Rating: Summary: This Book was Excellent Review: This book was very well written. Tess Greterison did a great job of portraying the two main characters as Claire Elliot and Noah Elliot. Noah and Claire are basically painted with the same brush because both of them both get their edgy when their "territory" is infringed on. They often don't know how to back off and let things take its course. If you want a great mystery, then read this book. You will thoroughly enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly bad! Review: I picked this up after seeing the high rating it's received here. I couldn't have been more disappointed. The story had me interested enough to want to finish the book (thus getting an extra star) but the writing was terrible. The type of book where characters come across important pieces of information but instead of testing or exploring, or, heck, even bothering to tell anyone nothing gets done. In fact, some elements you are certain will be relevant later on completely disappear. Events you are certain will cause trouble for characters later on are completely forgotten about. On top of the poor storytelling are occasional snatches of writing that were so bad I had to just shake my head. And this is her *third* book?
Rating: Summary: Entertaining! Review: Ms. Maxwell masterfully read this medical thriller/horror story. She read in such a way that it was easy to get caught up in the events of the story. The story was fast-paced. It moved along without ever bogging down. Tranquility Maine wasn't tranquil for long, that's for sure! A most satisfying story-well constructed and scary. This was my first book by Tess Gerritsen and I am looking forward to reading more of her books.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF TOP TWO Review: I consider Ms. Gerritsen and Charles Wilson as the two best "medical/thriller" writers around, with BLOODSTREAM and Wilson's GAME PLAN the two best books I've read this year. And both authors are multi-talented, Ms. Gerritsen having written romances in the past--and touching on mysteries now--and Wilson probably best known for his science-based thrillers that go further than just medical, e.g., EXTINCT and EMBRYO (as well as GAME PLAN) that go more into the government sponsoring high-technology advances that turn out in a way that is really scary, expecially because the stories seem so real.
Rating: Summary: accurate Review: Born and raised in Maine, I found this book accurate in it's evaluation of Maine. This book has a biological virus and ties in with Tranquility's past;if you like those features in a book, you'll like this one. It rated as a "keeper" in my bookshelf
Rating: Summary: A PAGE TURNER Review: This book was given to me by a big Tess Gerrtsen fan who said that I would really enjoy this book. Well I did. I had never read anything by this author and thought that I'd give it a try. I read the book between breaks at work and found myself really looking forward to getting back to it anytime that I had to put it down. I think most people would like the story. It is a story about teen-age kids going whacko in a small town and mysterious events that have happened similarily in the past. Its a page turner without a doubt!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This is one of the best books ive ever read. if there are any complaints at all, the only one i can think of is that the ending is a little odd because it leaves you hanging sortof. but still a great book
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: This is the first book that I have read by this author. I thought it was original. To me, not being able to figure out the ending is the reason I keep on reading. What fun is it to read a predictable novel? I would highly recommend this book...even Stephen King thinks it was good and who are we to disagree?
Rating: Summary: Teenage Angst in Maine... Review: A doctor in a small town in Maine tries to figure out why all the teens are angry and violent, including her own son! All this, in the face of townspeople who don't like her. The answer lies not with youthful hormones but with a nasty heretofore unknown disease, that eats into the brain... OK if you've got nothing else to read on the plane, but the plot and writing style are very choppy, and the "detective" aspects either obvious or left as a total surprise at the end (and a surprise that is impossible to deduce from reading, much to my disappointment). Gravity was certainly better, as I've heard Harvest is as well.
Rating: Summary: Bloodstream: Fast, thrilling, and fun! Review: I started reading medical thrillers a few years ago. I started with Michael Crichton, then onto Robin Cook and Michael Palmer. Tess Gerritsen has entered the rankings of a top medical thriller author. I love this book! The rural settings, the characters, and the plot come together for a riveting ride! I highly recommend this book!
