Summary: Disappointment
Review: I am a dedicated fan of Janet Evanovich, but Visions of Sugar Plums really disappointed me. It was too outrageous and in my opinon, not nearly as humorous as all of her other work. My Mother's first experience with Janet was with Visions of Sugar Plums and if I hadn't been such an influence, she would never have read another one of her books. I have the feeling that this book was done quickly for the sake of publication. Sad!

Summary: I loved it!
Review: I kept putting off reading it expecting to be disappointed as it's basically a short story rather than a Stephanie Plum full-length novel. I need not have worried. I laughed out loud as much as usual and despite a twinge of disappointment for the absence of Ranger I thought it as good as a full-length Stephanie Plum novel - of which I am an avid fan. Furthermore, and I know this won't be a popular comment with some Stephanie Plum fans, I also loved 'superhero' Diesel and can only hope he appears in future Plum books - he definitely provided mystery, light relief and sexual tension. I suppose my only real qualm with this book is that it probably would have been better served as a paperback and then priced according (hence the four stars rahter than five). A minor qualm, though...

Summary: Visions of Sugar Plums
Review: Well, if she was shooting for Grisham's Skipping Christmas she not only missed, she left the universe. I regret buying this piece of fodder and wonder if the ninth actual Plum novel will be worth the effort. What a waste of time and money.

Summary: Not What I expected.
Review: Thank goodness, I had read all of the eight books Evanovich had written prior to Visions of Sugar Plums. Based on my feeling after reading this book I would have no inclination to read any thing else written by her.I didn't think the book was funny or enjoyable reading.
There is a waiting list at our local library for this book,I think those waiting, will be as disappointed as was I after reading the book.
I hope in her next book she stays with her former style of writing and characters.

Summary: Definitely different - only for series fans!
Review: Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum is back and just as funny as ever. This holiday novel is a step off the beaten path from the usual Plums though. A little bit of fantasy is thrown in, just for good measure I guess. Add some "little people" donning fake pointy ears to resemble elves, an FTA who bears a strange resemblance to Santa Claus and a guy named Diesel who just "appears" in Stephanie's kitchen one morning and you have a definite recipe for hilarity. Some die-hard Plum fans may find this novel hard to swallow, but remember, it's fiction!!!

Summary: Quaint and Cozy Christmas Chronicle
Review: Think of this "Stephanie Plum Holiday Novel" as a quaintly quirky snack mix. It's a Janet Evanovich, Stephen King, and Frank Capra -esque kind of Wonderful Life. It's a cleverly contrived cozy Christmas chronicle that even incorporates a spin on Sir Clement Moore's classic. And unlike other Christmas confections, there are no calories. Cheers!

Summary: Visions of Sugar Plum
Review: I have every Plum novel and have loved every one of them, until this one. I only liked Visions of Sugar Plum. First of all, the story wasn't believable and where in the world is Ranger? He makes the books as far as I am concerned. I can only hope that this was a quick write just for Christmas. Please Janet, go back to the working class Stephanie who can't keep house, can rarely catch a felon but can keep us laughing from the first to the last page.

Summary: Not worth the effort
Review: I've like all of Evanovich's books. However, this felt way too forced and the story wasn't nearly as entertaining as the others. Also, just a note on the narrator - even more irritating than the story. No feeling for the characters came through, she didn't pronounce "Trenton" right, and her character voices were ridiculous.

Summary: Christmas -- in true Stephanie Plum style
Review: New Jersey-based bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's life would be complicated enough as it is -- Christmas is around the corner and she hasn't even started to prepare for the holidays, an old toy maker named Sandy Claws failed to appear for his court appearance, so she has to find him, two attractive men -- the extraordinary headhunter Ranger and Trenton cop Joe Morelli -- have a soft spot for her, and her Grandma Mazur has a new studmuffin. Yet that isn't all -- Stephanie suddenly faces a sexy-looking and wonderfully-smelling man named Diesel in her kitchen who appeared out of nowhere but claims to be "sort of real."

With that, the plot is ready for the wildest Stephanie Plum adventure ever, complete with angry elves, combat mall shopping, and a supersociety. Janet Evanovich's "Visions Of Sugar Plums" is a holiday treat for every Stephanie Plum fan, even though the book has only 149 pages. Readers not familiar with Stephanie's special lifestyle should think of reading the first novel in the series -- "One For The Money" -- before picking up "Visions of Sugar Plums." That way the "Plum experience" will be more fulfilling -- and surely it will be "merry and bright" for everyone.

Summary: Lighten Up!
Review: Okay. . .the book was too short and a little silly, but how could you NOT enjoy it? I have read #1 through #8 and have loved every book in the series. Yes. . .too many "eye rolls" from Steph and how many people REALLY carry guns in Trenton. . . but you gotta love 'em!! Morelli, Ranger, Grandma Mazur, Lula, Mooner. . .they're like one great big dysfunctional family you'd like to hang out with for a crazy ride (or a great escape from the monotonous).
If you're looking for a fun, laugh-out-loud series you're in for a treat. If you're looking for a literary masterpiece, don't look in the Burg. . .
