Rating: Summary: One for the Holiday Money Review: I love Stephanie Plum. And lucky for Janet E, I will still love Stephanie, despite this short, expensive fairy tale. I can suspend disbelief with the best of the, but Stephanie is supposed to live in a wild, wacky but somewhat real world. This book deals with a fantasy hero which is fine in fantasy books, but last time I checked, Plum books were classified as mysteries. It was an expensive, totally unsatisfying read that smacked not of author intrusion, but publisher intrusion as a gambit to drain some holiday bucks from loyal Plum readers. A non-worldly hero who pops in and out of Stephanie's life, a missing Santa, a workshop manned by elves. Take the typical crazy Plum elements that we always love and take them two steps too far, making a parody of a parody of a parody. And now we know the defintion of "derivative." Folks, we were used.... I'm still going to be first in line for the numbered books because I have faith that JanetE will deliver the goods. SMP, we'll forgive you this time, but we won't forget. Don't try our patience and make such a calculated attack on our wallets again without giving us anything substantial.
Rating: Summary: A Decent Short Story Review: This was a decent short story. If it had been sold with 3 or 4 others, it would have been worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing Review: I was very disappointed in this novella. It seems the author was just trying to get something out fast to appease us Plum fans. I would rather wait and read something of substance. I only laughed out loud once which is a bad thing when reading a Stephanie Plum book. The fantasy part was hard to swallow, and I sincerely hope that Ms.Evanovich doesn't plan to include it in forthcoming novels.
Rating: Summary: A Fun Holiday Story! Review: Visions of Sugar Plums by Janet Evanovich is a delightful and fun story for the holidays. I had a very good time just trying to keep up with things. I know you will enjoy Visions of Sugar Plums as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: Visions of Sugar Plums Review: This book was terrible - not up to the standards of Janet Evanovich - I think she fell into that same thing that a lot of authors fall into - you basically get too popular and then you turn out [garbage]! - I won't buy her next one!
Rating: Summary: Adequate diversion Review: One of two holiday themed books I picked up recently. First was Skipping Christmas, decidedly fun, and this, which I'm decidedly undecided about. In the end I think it is an adequate diversion but not Evanovich's best.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money... Review: What a disappointment! I am a big fan of this series, but I think Evanovich is just capitalizing on the popularity of the series and wrote this very short, very stupid story for the money. And enough with the burned up cars already, it is getting old!
Rating: Summary: Visions of Sugar Plums Review: Ahhhh....the sound of a satisfied Plumfreak! My take on VISIONS-is that it was Just the Perfect Way to step into the Holiday Spirit! Diesel-just 'enough' to steam up my windows! Now-I'm Really Ready to hit the malls and look out for pointy ears! Happy Holidaze Steph, Lulu, Connie, Grandma Mazur and especially Janet for bringing them all into my little house in the woods! What a holiday celebration we could have!
Rating: Summary: FAIRYTALES CAN BE BORING Review: If you collect the Plum hardcovers, well you of course will want this. It is a Plum fairytale with not much substance. Stephanie goes to her parents house for Christmas, Stephanie wants a tree but has no time or motivation to get one, Stephanie see Joes for two seconds here and there, Stephanie has a supernatural friend who is a hunk but pretty boring (personally, I think Ranger is having a bad dream and this book was it).
Rating: Summary: SHAME ON YOU, MS. EVANOVICH! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the first eight of the "Stephanie Plum" series. Most were purchased in hardcover because I couldn't wait to read what entertaining adventures Steph and "company" would encounter next! "VISIONS OF SUGAR PLUMS" should never have been put into print! (At least NOT associated with the "Plum" series!!!!) It was a storyline akin to the ridiculous, absurd, and foolishness of the "Batman" T.V. series that my younger siblings watched in the 60's. IMHO, this book does not even rate one star. My copy met its final resting place at the city dump. Please Jan, get back on track and give us the high quality that we your loyal readers have up to this point, taken for granted. You have the talent to do it!!!!!!
