Rating: Summary: Wisdom of the Ages: 60 Days to Enlightenment Review: This book is easy to read, and easy to use, and should be a must read for everyone wanting to improve and enhance one's life. It is an easy guide drawing from the rich history of sages from the past, some distant and some not so distant. I would recommend it as a great gift to anyone, but especially for family members who could read it together and then discuss it. It's that easy to read.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't Make Sense Review: The rules of yesterday do not work for my generation. The World Trade Center has ruined all hope, and changes everything. Why bother to live day by day if it can all go away in one minute? n The ancient widsom is not about bombs which did not exist at that time.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Anybody In Search Of Meaning Could Read!!! Review: I was upset to see that the ratings could only go up to 5...1,000 words could never truly express to you how much this book has influenced my life. Dr. Dyer captures the lessons and messages that our great minds and hearts through history dedicated their lives to teaching. He unites our world's greatest teachers from all different cultures and time periods, making this book suitable for anybody, no matter their sex, colour, religion, age. Dyer presents the reader with truth, enlightenment, and hope. He does sugar coat the bad things in life, like many self help books do, but rather let's the reader know that while times may be tough, we can conquer our trials, but the conquership begins within ourselves...While reading this book you feel yourself becoming each individual person quoted, as Dyer expands on their teaching and relates it to our own lives...If you do infact buy this book don't expect it stay in mint condition...My copy is already highlightena dn dogeared beyond recognition...if you open your heart, this book will truly transform yourself as it has mine...
Rating: Summary: A True Awakening Review: This is truly a fantastic concept in pairing the wisdom of Dr Dyer with that of other brilliant communicators of history. The message has always been the same. This message as clarified by Dr Dyer awakens one to the true nature of our existance.I will need more copies of this book because I fully intend to wear it out by reading it to my children and grandchildren. What a special gift we have been given in Dr Dyer.
Rating: Summary: Gift Book received; Shipping is terrible Review: This site is the worst for shipping expectation. 2nd day delivery was five days after email. My order "shipped" on the 23rd Saturday(expectation was 26th Tuesday) and arrived on Thursday. I will not be returning to this site.
Rating: Summary: Reaching or Dumbing Down? Review: I question Gail Hudson's suggestion of Dyer dumbing down. Reaching a large audience is worth praising. While some might prefer his more elevated writing, there are those of us who value message over form.
Rating: Summary: Wisdom of the Ages-A Refence Manual Review: I have read and listened to Wayne Dyer for about 5 years now. This book for me is like a 'reference manual'for the different situations in my life. Rather than reading it from cover to cover, I go to it for guidance. If I'm experiencing a lack of patience or some type of grief has entered my life, I turn to the appropriate section and see if it pertains to my situation and perhaps I can get a perspective on it. It's like,"What does Wayne have to say about this." I have a great respect for Wayne Dyer. His teachings have helped me in some of the most tramatic times in my life. He seems to help me make sense of it all,the positive and the negative.
Rating: Summary: Great Listening - Enjoyable, Succint, Practical Review: I bought the audio version of Wisdom of the Ages so that I could listen to it on the way to and from work, and I enjoyed it immensely. The audio version is great for commutes! And Dyer's voice is rich and soothing. Some of the chapters do contradict. For example, he points out the need to keep your dreams to yourself, but then describes the process of how he communicated his dream of creating "Wisdom of the Ages" to his publisher and the production staff in order to make it happen. All things considered, this is a great work. It is full of great advice, it is very enjoyable, and I came away with useful tidbits that I can and will use in my own life. I feel fully confident in recommending this to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Bringing poetry down to earth Review: This is an enjoyable collection of poetry with plain, everyday explanations and interpretations. However, in his attempt to be plain, some complexities and intellectual aspects remain hidden. The author expresses some unconventional ideas that I simply disregarded. Overall, the selection and presentation make it an inspiring book.
Rating: Summary: A Gift Worth Giving Review: I agree with the comments of the other 5 Star reviews and would suggest that this book become a gift to those you revere and appreciate. I gave a copy to my father in law who is 93 years old, metally sharp and a man of wisdom. I wanted him to know how much I thought of him. This book better expressed my feelings more than anything else I could think of. I know he was greatly touched by my expression of love.
