Summary: A fan
Review: I have been a fan of Nicholas Sparks novels since "Message in a Bottle". I have to say that this is a very good read. I recently lost my husband tragically and felt every emotion that Miles felt. Mr. Sparks did his research well. The suspence in this novel was excellent. I could not put this one down. I recommend his novels to anyone who likes romance.

Summary: A book that is filled with many twists
Review: M. D. Gray, author of "Smilosophy:Getting More Smileage Out of Life found this to be an excellent book. Nicholas Sparks is a gifted writer that pulls the reader into each story he writes. Bend in the Road begins with an unfortunate accident that leaves Miles, the main character in the story with many personal demons to fight. Enter Sarah, his son's school teacher that somehow makes Miles feel human again only to see another twist later in the story. I give Bend in the Road four stars.

Summary: His best yet...
Review: Of all of Spark's novels A Bend in the Road is by far the best. It not only captures his traditional romantic style of writing, but also throws in some suspense. The intense relationship developed between Sarah and Miles will have you rooting for their love until the very end. The tragic twists thrown in throughout the plot kept me interested the whole way through. I wasn't able to set this book down. I highly recommend it for someone who has enjoyed other work by Nicholas Sparks. I think that even skepticals of Spark's corny/sappy novels would enjoy this one.

Review: This book was one of the best books I have read in a very long time. I could not put it down! Most of the book is told by and about the main character, Miles. However, every few chapters a portion of the story is told by the hit and run driver. I couldn't wait to see how the story would end and now I am sorry the book is over.

Summary: Unexpected in everyway!
Review: Mr. Sparks has out done himself. This is a wonderful love story full of unexpected twists, and suspense. Will love traverse all? Is love really blind? This is a must read for any romantic. Miles and Sarah meet and fall in love by chance, and are almost torn apart by it as well. Miles, a recent widower, is left to raise his only son, and soon discovers that Jonah isn't learning what he should be. It is Sarah, Jonah's teacher, who brings it to Miles attention, and it is Sarah who decides to go the extra mile for Jonah and his busy, town sheriff, father. Their relationship blossoms, but is forced to cross a very rickty bridge as Miles must once again face the death of his wife Missy. Sarah is as surprised as Miles, by who the killer might be, and she is faced with having to make the right choice no matter what the cost to herself. This story does not dissapoint.

Summary: Book Review for "A Bend in the Road"
Review: The book that I read for my choice reading assignment was A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks. I liked many things about this book: it was easy to read and comprehend, it kept my attention the whole way through and it was very suspenseful.
When I first started reading this book, I was confused, especially at the prologue. I mean, I was confused at who all the characters, Missy, Miles, Michael, and Sarah were and what their relationships with each other were. Then, as I kept reading further and further, it all made sense. I really liked the suspenseful moments in this book- when Brian Andrews started telling the reader, chapter by chapter, who ran over and killed Missy Ryan. Finally, in the middle of the book, he told the reader who killed Missy. I especially liked the way he told the reader who the killer was, without saying, "I killed her." Instead he says, "I had to be at the funeral, you see. I was, after all, the one who'd been driving the car." (Page101) At first, I didn't understand what he was saying. Then I came to sudden realization and it left me breathless for a second. Before this part of the book, I was a little bored about reading about Sarah and Miles and I wanted something to happen. I thought it was creative that the author would put an intensely suspenseful part like who the killer was in the middle of the book, which would keep everyone reading further and further to the big climax near the end. I also liked the fact that it was easy to read and comprehend, once you get a grasp of what was going on. Since, this didn't interfere with me reading this book, I didn't put the book down until I was finished, and even then, I just kept holding the book, wanting it to go on further. This book definitely kept my attention the whole way through, especially at the end, when the secret about the relationship between Sarah and Miles and how close they are to the secret of who killed Missy is revealed. I also liked the way Nicolas Sparks used indirect characterization and direct characterization in this book. Sometimes, he would directly explain how the characters were such as, "From all accounts, Missy was both charming and kind..." (Page 2). Other times he would explain the characters through their thoughts and actions. So, the reader didn't have to figure out everyone's characteristics all the time and the character's nature wasn't always given to reader; it was balanced. Another thing I enjoyed about this book was the fact that the author used both 1st person and 3rd person omniscient as their point of view. Brian described his part in Missy Ryan's life in the book through 1st person by using I, me, and my. Then, the rest of the book was in third person omniscient with the narrator, who was also Brian, telling the story. I thought that this was both neat and creative, the way the author combined these two points of view and still made the story make sense at the same time.
The theme of the book is: Running away from and avoiding your problems just creates more problems to deal with. I definitely agree with it- not only in the sense that it does definitely relate to the book, but that it is true and relates to life. For example, if you cheat on a test and don't admit it, then you'll not only have to live with the guilt, but when you do get caught, the punishment will be worse than if you had just told the truth in the first place. If you admitted to cheating, you wouldn't have to live with the guilt and the consequences might not be so bad since you told the truth in the first place.
I would definitely recommend this book to others because I really enjoyed reading it and it is easy to understand and read and if you really enjoy it, you can finish it in a couple hours. I also think that others would enjoy it because it is a fun sort of book, funny at times, and relates to real life. No matter what age you are, you would enjoy it. Adults would like it because it deals with "adult matters" and isn't about teenage problems or anything like that. Teens would like it because it is suspenseful, funny, and easy to read and understand. Also, both teenagers and adults would like the fact that this book isn't all that happy either- it involves different emotions, grief, anger, and love. For all of these reasons, I would give this book a rating of 10 out of 10. I really enjoyed reading this book and I hope others will enjoy it as much as I did.

Review: A Bend in the Road was a great book. I have never read any of Nicholas Sparks books, but after reading this I will find some of his other books and read them. This novel is about true love and how people will overcome anything to be with the ones they love. I can't believe the ending of this book. If you like unexpecting endings you better read this. I would recommend this book to all readers. It is told from Miles (the father of the book) point of view. It also had a little twist because part of the story was told from the killers point of view.
GREAT BOOK!!
