Rating: Summary: Walsch vs. C.A. Lewis Review: This is the best of Walsch! If you already accept the premise that God is accessible within us all, and you simply want the essential insights which Walsch has articulated (or perhaps channeled) then this is the one to read. Ditto if you want practical application of his ideas to everyday life.I disagree with a couple of individuals who have reviewed this and other Walsch books on Amazon.com, who have suggested that you would also benefit from reading "An Encounter with a Prophet" by C.A. Lewis. I find that the two writers appeal to very different audiences. Lewis does a good job of addressing the issues of fundamentalist Christians who are just beginning to get in touch with gnawing concerns about their lack of spiritual fulfillment and the fear- based motivation of their belief system, and who are beginning to doubt that Satan is lurking behind every door. Readers who resonate with Walsch, on the other hand, will have already addressed those basic shifts in mindset (if they came from a fundamentalist background) and are looking for deeper answers; or perhaps recognize that, even if Love is all there is, it can still be a challenge to live a life of enlightenment as a human being on this planet.
Rating: Summary: There is a lot better than this around Review: One of the common debates within spirituality seems to be whether it takes any effort. The notion of the fish swimming around frantically looking for water. Just open your eyes and see, drop your illusions, etc, writers like Deepak Chopra say. This book is in the same vein. Life is God, God is all there is, etc. If one asked Walsch to prove any of what he has written in this book, he may well say, "I just know." Intuitive knowledge of God (or spirit, soul, love) is fine, that is probably the only type there is. If you take the argument that the spiritual life takes no effort, that it is simply 'a choice to awaken', writers such as Watts, Krishnamurti, or DeMello will give you a better description than Walsch in my opinion. But then, they all spent many years in study and practice. Futhermore, taking the 'no effort' argument to its logical conclusion, why read at all? I understand that this is what Thomas Aquinas in fact did in the last few years of his life, but Neale Donald Walsch aint no Thomas Aquinas!! On the other hand, if in fact you believe achieving enlightenment actually takes some work, there is a wealth of good material around. Authors such as Ken Wilber and Sogyal Rinpoche have more wisdom in one of their written paragraphs, than this entire book and the likes of Deepak have, in my view. Deepak and Walsch are like the fast food equivalent, lots more sales, but substance???
Rating: Summary: Flooded with LOVE'S energy Review: Inside this book is part of the simple expression of what is Real. This awareness and understanding of the reality of freedom, boundless possibilities in this lifetime, total interconnectedness and our unending worthiness of the unconditional love of the universe comes through Neale's beautiful soul so clearly. It is released through him in this book just as it is released through every person in countless ways each day. This book offers each person the chance to know what it means to feel the expression of the reality we already know inside to the fullest. The ultimate reality is that we are not separate from that energy, we are no less beautiful, magical, powerful and amazing than the most brilliant miracle ever fathomed. We exist literally AS this energy in all moments... re-emerging and evolving into a deeper experience of all that we are. The unconditional love is basic truth: always present, inside our blood our skin in the air and things all around us, flowing completely through all things, fulfilling us on the deepest level, asking nothing, needing nothing, offering us EVERY possibility to know ecstasy, providing total unconditional acceptance, feeling and knowing us exactly in the dimension where we are, and swinging the door open into the FULL awareness of Reality. These are the words in Neale's book, the energy in its paper, the miraculous flow of energy that is caressing every soul.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not the best in the series Review: I read all books by the Author (or God!) and some of them become my bed side companions. But I must say, although this time the book is written as if it was by God, this one is really written Mr. Walsch, and I think Don is in danger of losing contact with himself (or should I say God) and put on too much of his eago. There are valid points in this book. But if you find this book lacking, try CWG book1 and and FWG. I am a very shap observer, I read all religion, and all sicence books, and almost all best sellers read like junk to me, but, except for some of the claerly marked commend by Don, I have found the God's section extremely inspiring in those two volume. Don't dismiss the entire series because of this one ... this one read like one of the best seller by an author who must publish something to keep his name in people's mind. Not that bad a book, but don't give it out as a gift just because of the author's name ..... unless you will.
Rating: Summary: Your Dreams, Make Them Come True... Review: I have read Neale Donald Walsch's Conversation trilogy, Friendship with God and now his newest masterpiece, Communion With God. Like his previous books, the aim of this one is to introduce God himself to you, and God will explain how you can experience a wonderful and happy communion with God himself. This book requires from its reader open-mindedness and readiness to see beyond the old and very faulty concepts of God. After reading this book you will understand why there is no hell, no devil or why God does not judge. This book also explains great illusions and how to overcome them. Illusions such as Fear, Disunity and Conditionality. I have many dreams, and goals. Traditional church has not been able to answer my many questions concerning God, but Neale Donald Walsch has done awesome job. This book will basically give you tools to transform your life into a grander adventure which will cause you to rejoice and be happy. If you are looking for a way to make your mind about God, this book is certainly for you! I have already had some very wonderful experiences with this book. Even a few mystical ones.. and it is such an amazing thing! I know that my dream of moving to the States, studying and working there is one thing that God has inspired me to consider. In a similar manner, everyone of you will get your dreams fulfilled with the help of this book! I don't know how it happens, but after all..it is God who is helping us! Awesome book.. buy it!
Rating: Summary: I knew it Review: I just finished reading this wonderfull book. Mr Walsh has really changed my life. I have made the journey from atheist to a firm believer in God. But only in a God that is full of Love. A God you don't have to fear. A God that won't condemn you. And I must say that only in the books of Neale, I found such a God. I don't say that I don't respect other way's but this is my way. Thank you Neale for helping me to remember.Namaste ! Marc (Belgium)
Rating: Summary: Very Impressed Review: When I saw this book available for the first time, I felt Neale Donald Walsh was just over doing it. How many of these books can he write? I am glad to say I was proven wrong. From the moment I read a couple of random pages I was hooked and I never put the book down until I completed it. I felt this book to be the most useful of all the CWG books! Outstanding and I hope the rest of the world catches on quickly to the principles outlined in this and the other CWG books. - Blessed Be
Rating: Summary: A POWERFUL MESSAGE Review: I am an avid fan of the With God series and seem to think every new book has the greatest impact on me! The message is clear and detailed and as a result provides a useful tool for living life. I highly recommend this book for fans of the With God series, however not as the first of his books to read as it definitely builds on the previous ones. The material deeply challenges the foundation of American culture and it's fabulous! Congratulations to all that choose to read it. It truly is a fabulous gift!
Rating: Summary: Another "hit" for Walsch and God Review: I am almost through with reading Communion With God for a second time. There just seems to be so much in here that I could never have picked up only one time around. These books keep getting better all the time. And this latest one really gets down to the nitty-gritty. It describes perfectly how anyone can see through life's myriad illusions, and consciously choose to re-create oneself anew. Empowering as ever, this book is a must read for those longing to find an inner peace and tranquility amidst an often chaotic and conflicted world.
Rating: Summary: Untruth Review: This is from the man who said in an earlier book that Hitler was not evil because he released the Jews from their physical bodies so they could ascend to a higher level. Why trust anything someone like this would say? Why think it is from God?! Douglas Groothuis, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Philosophy Denver Seminary
