Summary: Real Life Accounting
Review: If you work for the real corporate world, chances are there will be no solutions manuals/answers to all your accounting problems - it's your job as an accountant to find out.This is an excellent textbook. If you are looking for answers to the problems set - get a copy of Gleim's CPA Review. You will find thousands of questions and answers of past CPA exams - by reviewing them carefully, you should have a pretty clue to your homework assignments. Good Luck!

Summary: you want the book to stay out of you life
Review: My accounting instructor explicitly told me to take good notes in class and stay away from this text book if possible. As a student who's majoring in accounting, this is one of the worst text book I ever read. And I can ever find better accounting reference from the internet than the book provides. In short, this book is to be avoided at all costs.

Review: My only problem with the book is they didn't put the solutions for the problems. Otherwise it's a good book. I found this book economically cheap, coz here in Univ of Sothern Cal, Acct 300A-300B uses the same book. And the book is great for pumping your arm muscles!!!

Summary: Intermediate II
Review: The book was easy to read, however, the examples were difficult to follow. For example in chapter 24 Statement of Cash Flows, the indirect method was laid out pretty well, however, the direct method was mixed in and scattered through out the section. It was hard to establish how to complete a direct method cash flow statement. It left out very important information that was necessary to work the problems given at the end of the chapters. A good example of this was problem 24-11 (p1371), it did not explain the effect of a gain and loss very well and where to put this information. Nevertheless, this particular Intermediate book was much easier to read and follow. The other problem was the disk, and internet concept was useless. The disk offered information that should have been put on the internet sight, and the Intenet exams, slides, and answer at the end of the book, should be put on the disk. This disk did not help me at all while taking the class, because the site was usually down or could not except the exams offered to help you study.

Summary: Not a good fanatic of it
Review: The chapters are ok.I had to carry this book almost everyday to class!; its so big and heavy. And I also didn't like the examples and excersises of it because you can't barely understand them.

Review: The other folks are right; do not attempt to use this book without a professor or C.P.A. that you can ask questions. I am using it for my class, and there are many times when I walked into class having no idea what the book wanted me to do, and I finished the class period saying, "Geez, if that's all there was to it, why didn't they just say that?" The reading level isn't so bad as the adherence to more-challenging-than-usual conventions. So if this is required for your course, no problem; you got yourself a good book. But steer clear if you're on this voyage alone.

Summary: Very helpfull book
Review: This book has helped me a lot in my accounting course. This has given me all the tools that I need to become an accountant. It covers so much ground and it gives you all the current issues of whats going on in the accounting world. I'm very gratefull to have acquired this book and my very best professor who is teaching it.

Summary: Challenging
Review: This book is definitely a tough one to read and interpret at times. The problems at the end of the chapters in this book were extremely difficult and at times I felt some subjects could have been explained in a less complicated manner to aid in better understanding. I have much more confidence after completing this book, that I am prepared for the real world of accounting. Please note that this book also has a web site where you can get additional problems and check figures for the problems at the end of each chapter. I would also recommend the study guide, there is a summary of all the chapters which is written for much easier reading. The problems in the study guide are a lot easier to work, and aid in working the problems at the end of the chapters in the text book. I will definitely keep this book for a reference after I graduate.
