Rating: Summary: A Time To Kill To Read This Book Review: "A Time To Kill", which was the first novel done by John Grisham, contained courtoom drama, hatred and sometimes, a bit of humor. I think this is one of Mr. Grisham's finest books with such awesome climax. I couldn't put this book down and missed the things that I should have done earlier. The first chapters were alarming and Carl Lee, the black father whose dauther was raped and sought revenge by killing the rapists was a real hero. Jake, his lawyer was choosing between his role as a father and a husband and role as a lawyer. This is a really interesting story.
Rating: Summary: My favourite Grisham Review: Great book - beautifully paced, genuinely moving at times, and unlike some of his other works, completely unpretentious and totally satisfying. In my opinion - his best.
Rating: Summary: A Time to kill Review: Will the black Vietnam Veteran, Carl Lee, who fought so that others might have democracy, freedom and justice, be able to acquire it himself or will he die in a hangman's noose? John Grisham's book, A Time To Kill, masterfully chronicles Carl Lee's quest for justice when his eight year old daughter is raped, beaten, and left for dead by two members of the KKK. Billy Ray Cobb and Peter Willard deserve to die for their horrific crime, but in the small town of Clayton, Mississippi, the heart of racism, the changes appear slim, at least they do to Carl Lee. So, taking an M-16 in his own hands, he dispenses the 'justice' that he knows will find these two men in no other way. Now Carl's fate lies in the hands of a brand new attorney, a disbarred lush, and a graduate student. Will Carl Lee face his own brand of justice or can this bunch of misfits convince the jury that there is'A Time To Kill?!
Rating: Summary: A Time To Kill Review: After reading this book for a school report I realized that it is unlike any book I've ever read before. A Time To Kill kept me reading endlessly. It had me right from the beginning. When his daughter's life is changed forever by a violent rape, Carl Lee Hailey takes the law into his own hands. Gripped by a passionate rage he murders his daughter's rapists. Now a trial for rape becomes a trial for murder. As thousands of people gather in Clanton, Mississippi for the famous trial, the danger grows for everyone involved. Jake finds himself and his family scared to live in this small town when the threats against their lives begin to look serious. As the trial nears its end everyone holds their breath. "We the jury find the defendant.........."
Rating: Summary: A Time To Kill Review: WOW, this was truly a powerful book. I couldn't stop reading it. I wanted to, even when I was crying, I just couldn't put it down. I needed to finish the story. This book tells a lot of truth of what things were like back then and still today. Blacks were not treated as fairly as they should have been. some still aren't. This book opened my eyes to relize what we as a people are doing to each other. I recomend every one read this book, maybe it will open our eyes, and relize what we have done in our past. The way we have treated others
Rating: Summary: A Time To Kill Review: A time To Kill by John Grisham was one of the best books I have ever read. This book portrayed the love and loyalty of a father to his daughter. It showed the realism of racism and how far things can go. This wasn't an average book about the courts had how people take justice into their own hands. It was all black and white. There was almost no gray in this town divided. The hard fighting white lawyer does all he can to get a fair trial for a black man while fighting off the KKK and putting his family at risk.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating Read Review: A Time To Kill by John Grisham was a fascinating book. The story incorporated courtroom drama, racism, and moral values with a new twist. I don't usually like novels on the court system but Grisham grabs your attention in the first ten pages and never lets go. He is definitely a talented author. If anyone ever handed me a book by Grisham again I would read it without question. This is the novel to read especially if you enjoy suspense, drama, or just a good book. I have never read a novel with so many twists, turns, and conflicts. John Grisham will keep you on your feet. This is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: A Time to Kill Review: A Time to Kill is an excellent book and I really enjoyed reading it. It's full of suspense and it kept me on my toes throughout the book. I really thought that it was sad in the begining when the little girl was being raped by two drunken, remorseless men. I really didn't enjoy that part since it was so sad. Tonya was in the hospital for surgery because she was bleeding out from head to toe. I love reading John Grishams' books and I hope that this review helps you in the future. Read this book by John Grisham; the best selling author of The Firm and the Pelican Brief!

The town of Clanton,Mississippi is mostly white reacts with shock and disbelief of the inhuman crime commited. A Time to kill is an excellent book to read, it is full of suspense. Read this book now by John Grisham; the best selling author of The Pelican Brief, and The Firm. I love this book because it is filled with suspense!
Rating: Summary: Best Book Since Presumed Dead Review: This book was a great book to read. It was great mainly because of the authors use of setting. This is especially good for the novel because it takes place in the olden days. It was back when the black people were almost always looked at as a lower class then the whites. He uses this aspect of setting beautifully to portray Carl Lee as a person in the lower class trying to struggle with the white jury and white judges. This book was one of Grishams best books because it was the most action filled one of the collection. If you read this you will finish a chapter only wanting to read more. At this time the Klu Klux Klan was in a struggle with the blacks and their rights. In one scene it shows the hatred between the black people and the Klan before Carl Lee's court date. I would really encourage everyone to read this book because it is one of the best of today. It also greatly shows the History of white Lawyers that got hatred for defending black people during that time. It was a suspenseful page turner.
