Summary: A wonderful resource for self-development.
Review: I've found Gelb's book to be a great help in solving some very immediate, practical issues in my life. I was particularly struck by his Alexander Technique references and did a little research on my own on this topic. Gelb has written an Alexander Technique book, Bodylearning and there is a very comprehensive web site, alexandertechnique.com

Summary: Could be life-changing, if you are willing to do the work!
Review: It would be easy to read this book and walk away feeling, inspired. If you do the exercises, especially the ones that make you feel a little uneasy or uncomfortable, you will find parts of your spirit that you thought were gone. And, you'll have a lot of fun. Be young again where it counts - in your mind and in your heart.

Summary: Inspiring!!
Review: As I started this book I thought I'd read a lot of it before. Indeed, many of the ideas have little or nothing to do with Leonardo da Vinci, and have been presented elsewhere in one form or another in other. However, as a whole consciousness-raising or self-improvement system, Gelb's exercises combined with his fascinating Leonardo anecdotes are really empowering and liberating and relevant.

This book is not going to turn me into a genius, but it is a great way to get back in touch with the brainpower that gets lost in day-to-day work and school and life. It makes you want to follow all the exercises and live life more fully. Even if you don't, though, even one or two of Gelb's self-improvement strategies is worth the price of admission.

For me, I "remembered" that I like to write and communicate my ideas. So, thanks, Mr. Gelb, for helping me write this review.

Summary: Great way to expand your creativity!
Review: I saw Michael Gelb on TV one Saturday morning talking about the book and wanted a copy IMMEDIATELY. The book is everything I expected and more! I am using some of the techniques already to "expand my horizons". And I have recommended this book to several friends.

Summary: Tasteful! Great book!!
Review: This is a book that everybody have to read. It changes preconceptions, it gives the world a whole different light -- brighter and more interesting. It changed my way of living, gave me very helpful tips and boosted my creativity, my IQ and my pleasure to live. An excellent read; like tasting wine. Buy it. You won't regret!

Summary: It takes you to the next level & changes the way you think.
Review: Much has been written about Mind Mapping, speed reading, theories of multiple intelligence, and how to integrate mind and body. Having read Michael Gelb's books and attended one of his seminars, I had used many of the techniques with some success, but felt that the brass ring was still just out of reach. Michael's comment was that to take it to the next level you have to change the way you think. Sometimes it takes a human example to understand how something works in practice. "How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci" points the way better than a hundred books explaining the theory alone. It breathes life into each of these ideas, and offers you a cornucopia of ways in which to pursue your own personal path and passion. It challenges you to make your own future and rediscover the past. Best of all, it works!

Summary: A Renaissance book for the Millenium. Timeless Wisdom!
Review: With charm, insight and wit, this beautiful book reminded me about the real potential in human thinking and behavior. It's not a 'quick read', but a worthwhile course in how to reach beyond one's limitations. A look back with reverence to provoke a reach for a richer future.

Summary: Pretty
Review: This book was more pretty than practical. I had great expectations for this book but the excercises alone would take a year to do. As I read I kept getting more turned off and looking ahead to see if there were anything new. I certainly like the journal idea but that isn't new. I finally gave up, returned the book and bought something else...

Summary: This offering is pabulum at best.
Review: While some of the biographical background and quotations are interesting, the main body of this book offers some absolutely silly suggestions for emulating the thought process of Leonardo. If he were to read this I'm sure that he and his compatriots would have a good laugh. When I reached the "exercises" I was reminded of some of the infomercials that dominate late night TV. I would not be at all surprised to see Gelb hawking his audio tapes soon. A waste of time. Anyone sincerely interested in learning about Leonardo would do well to look elsewhere.

Summary: Rich and thought provoking
Review: I prefer a book that is rich in thought and empowering. Few books rise to this level. This book and 'Life and death on the Internet' by Keith A Schroeder are such books.

My recommendation is to buy this book and 'Life and death on the Internet' and enjoy a good read.
