Summary: RJ has been replaced by a computer program
Review: Maybe RJ is dead and Tor has a computer churning out his books. Anyone seen him alive recently?

Reading the user reviews is more interesting than reading the actual book.

Summary: Please end it.
Review: I have loved almost all Jordan's books, but as time goes on and the story stretches on and on, it has become painful to read. Yes he is a great story teller, but this story should have been over two books ago. Usually there is something that resembles action, but in this book it was as dry as the Sahara during a dry spell. If you have read all of the books so far as I have, you will want to read this just to keep it going. The next book I will wait until it gets to paperback, because this one sure wasn't worth the money for a hardback.

Summary: More of the Same
Review: As much as I have enjoyed Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, I
have got to be honest. The latest book in the series, "Crossroads
of Twilight" is awful. Jordan has shown a remarkable talent for
writing page after page of absolutely nothing. So little actually
happens in this book that you could skip it entirely.

For fans of Jordan, this book has to be very frustrating. The
Wheel of Time began as a fast-paced adventure about good versus
evil in a land full of magic and intrigue. There were brilliant
plot twists and interesting people constantly in motion.

Unfortunately, by the 11th book in the series things have ground
to a halt. In Crossroads, no one does anything and Jordan spends
pages with repetitive descriptions and meaningless conversations
about nothing. I have to give Jordan some credit, I doubt there
are many writers alive that could fill hundreds of pages with no
plot movement at all. That's a skill, but not one that I want to
see again.

So what actually happened? (Spoiler warning, sort of) Well, when
we left Matt and his group of fugitives from the Seachan, they
were fleeing from the city of Ebou Dar. Hundreds of pages later,
still fleeing. When we last saw Elayne, she and friends were
trying to gather support for her claim to the throne of Andor.
Yep, she's still at it. At the conclusion of the book 10, Egwene
and the rebel Aes Sedai were about to attack the White Tower. At
the end of Cross Roads, Egwene and the rebel Aes Sedai were about
to attack the White Tower.

As for Rand, the Dragon Reborn and the main protagonist for the
entire series, he barely makes it into this novel and spends the
entire time in a remote part of Tear doing very little. If he
were an actor he'd be screaming for more lines. In short, nothing
happens.

In the end, I have invested so much time and energy in this series
I can't really let it go. But, if Jordan produces another book
like Crossroads, I might find away.

Summary: The CSPAN of Fantasy Novels
Review: Another 700 page book where nothing happens. This series started out great, but it appears to me that Jordan has run out of ideas and is just going with filler. I can't believe I waited over two years for a book about nothing.

I hope Jordan will finally realize he's milked it for all it's worth and finish the series in the next book.

Don't bother buying this book!, when the next one comes out read the last page of this book and you will be ready for the next.

Summary: horrible
Review: This may have been the biggest waste of my time I have ever spent. This book went absolutely nowhere and was almost completely void of any intriguing situations. My hope is that Mr. Jordan gets things back together and finishes this series in the way he started it. The last two books have been real let-downs. This book amazingly more than the last.

Summary: Disappointed fan
Review: I have been reading Robert Jordan since 1991. The last few books have been very disappointing. This book was all fluff and no substance. It is time to either end this series or just publish no more books.

Summary: Worst book is series?
Review: So many of the reviews state that this is the worst book in the WOT series. I would tend to disagree, this is possibley the worst book ever published. If Jordan would have presented a book of this calibre to publishers 14 years ago, he would still be working his day job.

C-O-T is a 700 page recap of the final 50 pages of Winters Heart, light... it is borring, but I must admit - the last two pages of the book did move the plot along quite nicely.

I would recommend that any interested reader go to the library, read the last chapter and not waste time with the filler called C-O-T.

One other observation about the series. I don't think Jordan has the slightest grasp of interactions between men and women. Jordan would have us beleive that men are so stupid that we can not understand anything women do and women truly spend the entire day thinking of wardrobes and how angry men make them.

At least I didn't have to read another "good Two Rivers Woolen" in this book since Ninieve was left out completely.

Finally, Mr. Jordan, your over exagerated bright pink and lavender dress with elaberately embroidered bodice with bright yellow ruffles at the end of the sleeves, so unlike the dresses worn by the other great authers, is slightly askew from the form normally worn by those who occupy the lands of Charleston, SC. (see how my run-on description of Mr. Jordans dress adds nothing to the review, much like 700 pages of his book)

I have also contemplated that Robert Jordan no longer writes the tomes of W-O-T. I have the feeling that I am reading a cheap romance novel that his wife or mother writes under his pen name. Possible?

Summary: Not so bad.
Review: I think the key to reading this series (well, in particular the last 4-5 books) is to just read without expections and the desire to see a particular thing happen. Just let yourself be led by the author. It may seem "superfluous", but some really interesting and vital things happen throughout.

Summary: For people with sleeping trouble!
Review: What can I say??? Those first 6 books I really liked, but then Mr. Jordan began to entangle the whole story by telling us readers what they (those brain dead people in WOT series)did, when they did it, what they were wearing, what they thought, what they drank and ate etc...(they never go to toilet? could be interesting when one sees how Jordan describe things in the smallest detail;-) I was hoping for more than this! There are no progress in COT. Mat. Perrin and Rand are doing and thinking almost the same as in the previous book and the whole affair/ action last only perhaps some weeks in the book (though it felt like eternity!). Everything goes around in circles.Mat has lost his charm, Rand is a little boy who needs help all the time, Perrin is still wondering around looking for his bloody wife, and the women are just as they used to be!
I never skiped pages in a fantasy book before but with this book my sanity wouldn't allow otherwise.
To all of you who will read this book! Just notice for every sentence said in the book, it's 2-8 pages of explanations and when you begin to notice it, one can get so annoyed that one's ready to burst/explode. Notice how often the characters thinks of the same thing (the same things they thought about in the previous 3-4 books).
And when some people here begin to compare him with Tolkien, on how complex and much depth robot Jordan's WOT has....then i must mention to those people that Tolkien managed to write Lotr in 3 books, not like Jordan's 10 (so far). He's characters are STALE and so boring. Never have I started reading a so promising fantasy series, for so to hate the same series/author.It's no constructive about his writing any more. What does he try to tell us with those latest books??? The story isn't moving one inch. Problem with sleeping? Buy this book, else stay clear of it and this author.
There's no problem for anyone who wants to write a book just to write about what the people in the book thinks (the only one who manage that was Kafka), and Jordan is definitely not Kafkas' equal!

Before I read the next book (if ever!) I will make certain that I take a look at the reviews here at Amazon first.
Let us all hope WOT series will finish before we all die of old age...Or Mr. Jordan die of drowning in the pool of money he made!
P.S folks! you know that he doesn't care what he fans says/feels??? That says much about a man who makes his living of us!:O

Summary: can't pick it up
Review: Very boring and disappointing book. Does not move story line, shuffle of players around RandLand. Enough said by others, would give it a 1/2 star instead of 1 star, because it did have a couple of chapters on Matt.
