Rating: Summary: Her Best Yet Review: I had a hard time putting this one down. I like Linda Howard, but this is definitely her best one yet. Fantastic!
Rating: Summary: one of her best Review: Linda Howard has written a ton of books, and this is one of her best. Milla and Diaz are passionate, committed people with the strength and character to understand that love sometimes requires heartbreaking sacrifice. I really enjoyed this one.
Rating: Summary: Wow. Review: This was by far one of the most moving romantic thrillers I've ever read. Milla was one of the best heroines ever. The portrayal of Milla was one of the most realistic that I've ever seen. Many authors would have overdone some aspect of her character: she would have been too obsessed, too passive, to full of self pity. Instead, Linda Howard's portrayal was truly deft, giving Milla an incredible depth. As one of the characters said, we would all like to think that our moms would have kept looking for us as long as Milla looked for her son. Milla's single-minded drive wasn't overdone, so she came off as sympathetic, not pathetic or obsessed. She was strong and focused, but still vulnerable. She also managed to maintain a very mature perspective on how the path she had chosen (devoting 10 years of her life to the search for her son) destroyed her marriage. She had earned the right to be bitter about the fact that her husband divorced her, but instead she understood that it was she who had actually abandoned him, emotionally. And the way she handled her son's adoptive parents showed what a truly amazing person she was. My only disappointment was in the character Diaz. I wish we had seen a bit more from his perspective. He was a little too enigmatic for me. Also, there was little explanation of how he got into his line of work, which was such a central part of his character and personality. In addition, after he betrayed Milla in such a fundamental way, I thought she forgave him too quickly. Other than those criticisms, I thought this book was fabulous.
Rating: Summary: A Rare Linda Howard Disappointment--No spoilers Review: As a diehard fan of Linda Howard, I was disappointed with this hybrid of mainstream suspense and romance novel. It doesn't succeed on either level. There is no payoff for the suspense--we hear of the resolution second-hand--just an emotional bathos that far exceeds the excesses of most romance novels and therefore fails to satisfy in that area as well. Nothing kills a good romance like a long, drawn-out tragedy, and even Ms. Howard can't save this one. This is a Sufferin' Oprah book club selection minus the literary content. If you must read Linda Howard, as many of us must, wait for the paperback.
Rating: Summary: Wow!!! Review: Linda has definitely hit the jackpot with this one!Great story line, great characters and a real page turner. Romance, action and humour - a brilliant combination - the book makes you laugh and cry. You really care about what happens in the end. It is one of those kind of books that read over and over again. Definitely one of her best.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: One of her best. Linda Howard never fails. This one was extremely touching. I felt as if she was writing this from some personal experience. Great read
Rating: Summary: Yes, You Will Have a Good Cry Review: Ms. Howard does not fail to please her fans as well as those new to her books. In Milla, she has created a character who experiences love, happiness, tragedy, forgiveness, and redemption, on the way to finding love again. Even those who have never had children will feel the pains of any parent who has lost a child. I recommend this book, and if the suspense, passion, and ending don't sway you, then I don't know what will.
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: Linda Howard is one of my favorite authors in part beacuse of her powerful story lines and partly because I always recognize the characters in her book as "real people", very believable. This is one of her most powerful stories yet. This is one of Linda Howards best and it is wonderful to see her writing gain depth with each book and still retain all of her wonderful magic that goes into each story. I have read this book two times and cried in all the same places each time! Linda Howard- keep up the wonderful work! A fan in Texas
Rating: Summary: Not my Favorite LH Review: This was not one of my favorite Linda Howard books for three reasons. I won't give away the ending, but I was in tears over the description of Milla's suffering due to a decision she has to make. I know it followed the storyline and I wholeheartedly agreed with her decision, but it was heartbreaking to read. Also, I thought we were sort of left hanging regarding the wrap-up of the criminals involved. Finally, while I loved Diaz, for some reason Milla was not one of my favorite LH characters.
Rating: Summary: Never disappoints Review: The only thing I can really say is, I just wish Linda would write more books per year. She never disappoints. I still haven't laughed like I did in Mr. Perfect, but this book is heartwrenching and very sexy. You always fall in love with her characters. Bravo, Linda!!!
