Summary: Wow!! That had to be the best Sandra Brown book yet!
Review: If this is the first Sandra Brown book or not, it definitely won't be the last. As two plots unfold and come to one, the book was so unique to have a character write his life in a manuscript as you are also tantalized by the plot written by Sandra Brown. The book is a page-turner that will have you feeling so many emotions and Envy really WILL get you angry at points in the novel. A perfect plot(s) for revenge and romance! It will be one of your favorite reads!

Summary: Entertaining read
Review: I came on this audio book knowing nothing about the author or the book and at first I thought I had made a big mistake. What seemed to be the same-old "best seller" trash turned out to be pretty darned good. Readers should be warned that the author indulges in blatant pornography and vulgar language, but it's hard to imagine the story without it. At times the porn comes across as grafted on, seeming more a ploy more to increase sales than from a deepseated commitment to realism on the part of the writer. In many ways it's a shame because the irrational inclusion of vulgarity in these instances flattens out the characters and distances us from them at crucial moments. It may be easier to skim and ignore these parts in the print version. Another problem I had with the audio book was the reader, who obviously has no notion that there is a distinct difference between a Deep-South Georgia drawl and a native Tennessee accent. I found his interpretation annoying and was disappointed that Parker appeared to be more of a redneck rube than the educated, great novelist he is.

Summary: Wow! A wonderfully woven story and tantalizing read.

This was my first glimpse at the writing of Sandra Brown and boy was it a spectacular experience! The book is written in a couple of voices and begins with a prologue that immediately captures you and beckons you to continue the journey.

Envy indeed includes "a book within a book." The prologue the reader first encounters is actually a submission to publisher/editor Maris Matherly-Reed. It is intended to hook her and reel her in to the author, who intends to use her in a larger scheme. It hooked me just as strongly!

Corruption, greed, infidelity, passion and intrigue are just some of the tidbits you'll find in BOTH storylines. The outcome? It will surprise you _and_ satisfy you.

Fabulously done.

Summary: BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE!
Review: SANDRA'S BOOKS USUALLY ARE KIND OF SLOW READING, BUT ENVY WAS VERY WELL WRITTEN. I THOUGHT THAT MARIS'S CHARACTER WAS VERY STRONG WHERE ONE WOULD EXPECT HER TO BE NAIVE, STUPID AND NOT REALLY KNOWING WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND HER. SHE SHOWED US HER STRONG SIDE AT TIMES AND THAT WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE FLOW OF THE BOOK. PARKER AND NOAH'S CHARACTERS WERE SO WELL TWISTED THAT I HAD TO GO BACK TO THE PROLOGUE SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO TRY AND GUESS FOR MYSELF WHAT WAS REALLY HAPPENING. IT WAS GREAT! ALSO, THERE WERE WONDERFUL PLOT TWISTS BETWEEN NADIA, THE GRANDFATHER, AND ESPECIALLY WITH ONE OTHER PERSON - I WON'T TELL 'CAUSE I DON'T WANT TO RUIN IT FOR OTHERS! :) THIS WOULD MAKE A GOOD MOVIE.

Summary: Better than I'd hoped
Review: I liked Sandra Brown every book of hers that I've read. Her stories are always interesting with unexpected twists and turns. With Envy, she outdid herself! This book was AWESOME. It's a great, cup of tea and blanket, holy cow I gotta call someone and tell them what I've just read, on a rainy weekend book.

Summary: one dimension
Review: This book was predictable, trite, and blatantly anti-Semitic. Ms. Brown's characters were one-dimensional cartoon personalities. To truly hate a villain, one must love to hate him. To achieve this, an author must paint a human side, an aspect of his life with wich the reader can identify, a motive with which one may be able to sympathize, but then disregard when the consequent behavior is too evil to contemplate. Noah did not arouse any of these feelings. As for Maris, she was far too annoying, naive, vapid and weak to be viewed as a protagonist. I actually found the scenes with her almost unbearable to read as I truly had no emotional investment in her fate. The anti-Semitism prevalent throughout the story is offensive to say the least. How dare Ms. Brown create a story in which a member of the Jewish community would feel compelled to hide what his brave mother did to survive an incomprehensible and incomprable horror. Any method of survival was viewed as a positive one by the Jewish community. They did not pass judgment on those who did whatever they could during this unfathomable time. Did Ms. Brown consult with even one holocaust survivor. She paints Noah as an evil man for exploiting something as horrible as the holocaust, yet she perverts it and exploits it herself. Shame on her.
Furthermore, all the Jews in the story were creepy gray looking men with bald heads and a hunger for money, reminiscent of nazi stereotypes.
Despite the novel being boring and predictable with horribly unsympathetic characters, its most offensive trait is the racism in the story. Ms. Brown owes the Jewish community, and the holocaust survivors especially, a public apology.

Summary: A Serious Page Turner
Review: I have never read a book by Sandra Brown before and I happen to be in my favortie store and as I going to pay for my purchases I noticed the book on a rack above the newspapers and magazines and I decided to give it chance to expand my reading spectrum outside of the romance novels I usually read. I was a bit surprised and pleasantly amazed to discover that I was indeed reading a romance novel in (some parts) but with a different spin on old fashion romance. This book to say the least is a "Page Turner" I was intrigued with the main characters Maris, Parker, and Noah and their connections and intercations with one another Maris and Parker have sometimes humorous exchanges with each other were as Maris and Noah have some bitter and tense moments and I found myself hating him and his attiude toward his peers this attutide in my opinion lead him to his downfall and he was powerless to stop it from happening. This book made me feel like I was there when Parker described Key West I could almost feel the humdity and smell the salt in the air from the water. This was a great read and I recommanded it to everyone who is a Sandra Brown Fan I plan to read more of her books

Summary: A Fantastic Book (Review 4 English)
Review: English 12: 3rd pd Review

** WARNING: If you do not wish for the story to be revealed, do not read this review! (Mrs. Casserly do not count this as apart of the review. :) **

Envy, another deliciously written book by the illustrious Sandra Brown, entails an intensifying story of a friendship gone wrong. I would despise myself if I expressed my infatuation for this novel in such a way where it would ruin it for another reader however, this work of fiction surpasses all of Brown's previous works. If anyone has any sort of nonchalance towards books, Envy is the book to break that mentality! In their short, inferior lives, people have relationships of all varieties but whenever they open themselves up to others, they risk permitting in malicious individuals. These relationships can be more depraved and cruel, especially if it is the betrayal of a "friend". And heaven help those who betray our trust. Envy explores how far one would go in order to enact that revenge.
As an avid Sandra Brown reader, I am naturally pre-inclined to enjoy all of her books; this novel takes number one in my list of suspenseful romance. For those who do not enjoy Brown's books, Envy will have you staying up to the wee hours of the night, wondering what unexpected twist she will throw out of you next. The part that touched me the most is the relationship between Parker and Mike. The two grown men seem to have nothing in common with one another yet as the story progresses Brown develops their relationship. Brown continues this until the main character, Maris Matherly, discovers Mike actually taught Parker in college (it is all in the book). And the ending is just as explosive! I refuse to completely ruin it for any bookworm who plans to read this novel, but expect two final surprises from Parker and believe me, both flew over my head!
All in all, through, and through, Envy can only be described as a volatile roller coaster. Every time one thinks they have finally come to a stop, the ride begins all over again. Each word and sentence contributes to the novel's chilling tale of two men struggling for success and the woman who acts as a deterrent between the both of them (until now). I would suggest this novel to anyone who can read! (WC: 362)

Summary: I found this book VERY enjoyable amd intruging
Review: I was already a fan of Sandra Brown after reading Exclusive, but after some of her less than steller books (Slow Heat in Heaven was not one of my favorites to say the least) I wasn't sure about her newest one, but I ended up LOVING it.

Of course, I find the whole book writing/publishing world fascinating, but there was just something unique about this book. I am usually not surprised by any element of the ending of romantic suspense books because I have read so many, but there was a little bit of a suprise at the end of this one. Even though Parker's "meaness" was a bit irratating at first, you quickly understood and there were times where I wanted to skip ahead just to read the chapters of Envy that Parker wrote.

So READ this book- you won't regret it and if you want another Sandra Brown pick up Exclusive.
