Rating: Summary: Sandra Brown should stick to what she does best!! Review: In terms of raunchy, soft core sexy novels with a basic plot of boy-meets-girl, girl-hates-boy, sex-sex-sex and happily ever after, Ms. Brown gets my vote anyday. However, whenever she has tried to integrate some sort of mystery into her writing, she falls too far from the mark. "Envy" is just as bad as her other mystery endeavors, it is totally unbelievable, weak characters and frankly, there aren't enough sex scenes. I could care less about what happens to the main characters and, by the end of the novel, wished they had all drowned in the first chapter. Like my title says, Ms. Brown should keep churning out such great novels like "breakfast in bed" and "longtime coming" and, stay away from any forrays into mystery or god forbid, adventure.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Review: Did any of these reviewers actually read this book! No New York editor is going to 'track down' a writer who only submits his initials with a pedestrian at best prologue. Then when she does track down the author, he's so rude, any editor would have consigned him and his novel to the trash. These unbelievable events ruined the rest of the book for me. Did Ms. Brown's own editor think this was a feasible plot devise? I know this was fiction, but was it fantasy too?
Rating: Summary: Great Fun Review: I found this book incredibly amusing and suspensful. A friend of mine gave it to me for a birthday present--and it was wonderful. I usually read James Patterson but I found Sandra Brown much more intelligent. This book borders on actual literature. I strong recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Perfectly crafted Review: My highest gratitude goes out to Ms Sandra Brown for her brilliant book, ENVY. It is definitely a book for keep. This is a story of friendship, love, betrayal and revenge. I must say that no reviews could ever do justice to this book. Buy, read and enjoy the fun and thrill you will feel throughout reading it. I promise you there won't be any regrets! I keep picturing Jennifer Garner as the wonderful Maris Matherly Reed whenever I read this book. Believe me, I've read it more than three times and I still can feel my heart beating wildly for the suspense! A movie would be great. Having Jennifer Ganer to play the lead would be even more better!
Rating: Summary: Captivating...an excellent read, great beach book Review: I was hooked on Sandra Brown when I read French Silk years ago. This one is her best ever. I read it in about 2 days and had a hard time putting it down. I highly recommend this one!
Rating: Summary: One of her best.. and they keep getting better! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written, a storey within a storey. Not obvious characters. The wheelchair.. who would have thought what can be done in a wheelchair! The twist at the end was quite astonishing! Loved it! Thanks Sandra Brown!
Rating: Summary: I WAS BLOWN AWAY!! MORE THAN EXCELLENT! Review: Wow oh wow! I love suspense and I love romance, and this was a delicious combination of both. I was wary of the 10 audio cassettes, but as I started to listen, I was hooked, and when I came to the end of the story, I was actually sad. I didn't want it to end!! Wonderful plot twists, this story is far from predictable. I now want a copy of the book as well. I will be re-reading this one.
Rating: Summary: one of her best Review: This book is up there with her best. One of my favorites, I could not put it down.
Rating: Summary: Envy the book Envy Review: If you like mysteries that include love and murder this would be a good book for you. There is an odd twist around every corner, so you never know what to expect. It starts in a small publishing house called Matherly Press in New York city. It is the present year, and Mrs. Matherly-Reed is working hard on different books coming in every day. Though this day is different when Maris Matherly-Reed finds a prologue in her "slush pile" that she absolutely loves, but the only identification the book has as far as an author or return address are the initials P.M.E. From this day on, Mrs. Matherly-Reed comes to learn things about her life, husband, and father that she would have never expected. If you are interested in a plot like this, I highly suggest you get this book.
Rating: Summary: Simply a delight to read. Review: Envy is, easily, the best book I've read from Sandra Brown (and I've read plenty) Envy is a story inside a story and they are both webbed together splendidly. This story is about 2 friends with a basic same goal in life... and how far are they willing to go to achieve that goal. The characters are fabulous, all the dimensions S.Brown gives them are simply delightful, though i did have to say that our dear heroine here could be a tad more stronger, but thats just my personal view. I have never engrosed in a story as much as i did in this to the point that i had goose bumps and chills everytime our fantastic villan enters a scene... and he is a villian in every sense of the word! It is an addictive novel and if you will only read one Sandra Brown book this year, i certainly say that Envy should be it! She outdid herself this time, not that she hasnt before, but this story was a perfect blend of real romance and a real thriller. Dont walk to your store to get it... RUN!!!!
