Rating: Summary: This one is a must..... Review: (...)Audio books have been my companion on the road for many years. While Sandra Brown has never been an author I would "search" for in the past, I can say with all enthusiasm that ENVY was not a disappointment. (...)I didn't care for the graphic sex....but to each his own...it's what they call "variety" in tastes. If you want a book that is hard to put down (or turn off in my case), you must get this one. You might want to have everything done before you begin because it's even hard to stop long enough to go to the bathroom!!
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly Very Good!! Review: I have always been a Sandra Brown fan, however lost interest in some of her smaller books which I feel she writes in haste. This book Envy however was a great surprise. I had read some iffy reviews on it, but it was very good!! Really kept me turning those pages well into the night and the story took some real imagination I think in the writing. I would definitely recommend this book!!
Rating: Summary: Envy Review: Sandra Brown has written many books that were better plotted than Envy. The subject matter was at her finger tips without doing any research. The sex was far too graphic. I am not a prude by any means, but throughly described oral sex was a big turn off. The split between the two main characters was never really discussed or resolved. The book jumped from final rescue, no making up, next paragraph right into bed. I had to reread that portion of the book, because I was sure I had missed the part where they at least discussed their problems. No, it just wasn't there. Sandra Brown is an excellent author and capable of writing much better product than Envy.
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down Review: Envy, by Sandra Brown, was an exciting, suspence filled book. Athough I have enjoyed all of Sandra Brown's work I found this one exceptional. The caharacters are very real and interact well with each other. The dialogue flows, but is not stiff or contrived. I enjoyed the way the plot was developed, through the use of the characeter PME's story telling, in the novel that he is writing throughout Envy. It added a different dimension to the story. You watched the characters develop not only if the present, but in the past as well, which gave motivation for their actions. I found this hard to put down and could not wait to finish it.
Rating: Summary: Gripping page-turner Review: This is quite simply, the best book I've read so far this year. It is suspenseful, engrossing, and well-written. The characters are, for the most part, fleshed-out and believable. The best compliment and review I can give this book is to say that the other night I stayed up until 3 in the morning to read 250+ pages because I HAD to know how it ended. It's that good. It's not without some minor flaws, however. I thought the ending was just a little TOO perfect and tidy, but I can't elaborate more without giving away plot. Also,I admit I'm not a book editor, but even so I found it extremely difficult to believe that any editor would become so gung-ho and go to the lengths that Maris did, based solely on the first few pages of a book. But, those minor quibbles can not take away from the quality of the story and the writing. Thus, I cannot give the book anything less than 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Good But Not Great Review: It was pretty decent it has some compelling moments. But rauchiness of the book left at lot to be desire.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: I just finished reading Envy. I really enjoyed the novel within a novel format, but didn't find it as an exciting a read as Switch which I couldn't put down. I wouldn't rate it as high as many of her other novels.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!! Review: This is my first Sandra Brown book. This book kept me hooked from the first page! It has the most unusual and intriguing plot I've ever had the pleasure to read. The turns weren't predictable and had me outraged one minute and laughing the next. An emotional attachment to the characters was easily formed with Brown's great prose. I look forward to reading more from Sandra Brown, but am worried that none will hold a candle to this one.
Rating: Summary: Great Characters Review: I almost did not buy this book. From what I had read, it did not sound as good as past Sandra Brown books. But it is absolutely wonderful! You will fall in love with one of the main characters, Parker Evans. One of those books you cannot put down until the last page.......because in this one you won't know all the answers until that last page is turned!!!
Rating: Summary: Envy is "thoroughly" readable (refers to audio version) Review: Having read 39 reviews I am forced to add my $0.02. Linda Howard, Julie Garwood, et. al. watch out, Sandra Brown has surpassed your latest efforts by miles. The technique of inserting a book within a book was gripping, the hero tragic, even the education about book editing was intriquing. The language may be shocking, but let's face it, realistic for both fraternity brothers and a man bent on revenge for the past 14 years. "That's not even a word!" "What, thoroughly? It is too." Ha! That passage cracked me up. Do yourself a favor and listen to the unabridged audio version of Envy. The narrator's husky, southern voice adds to an already great script. I got so impatient for the ending I had to buy the hardback book to read before the last two casettes. Thank you Sandra Brown for an excellent novel. I put Envy up there with Mirror Image, Where There's Smoke and French Silk. More, more, more!
