Rating: Summary: Edge Of Your Seat Reading, Sandra Brown Style!!! Review: Ms. Brown has done it again!!! When you pick up this book be prepared for setting aside a good bit of time because you won't be able to put this book down until the final page is read. The newest book from Ms. Brown proves yet again why Ms. Brown dominates the New York Times best selling authors. Her latest book involves sex, murder, and suspense in a combination that leaves you guessing who the bad guy really is...and trust me you will be kept guessing. Paris Gibson is a late night radio show host who is hiding in the dark from her past. She is comfortable in the shadows, and enjoys being a faceless person to the masses. Her world is turned upside down when "Valentino" a fan of her show calls and tells her that he is going to kill a girl in the next 72-hours. Feeling that this call is not a hoax she makes a copy of the tape and heads to the police department. Dr. Dean Malloy is the police psychologist that is consulted regarding the Valentino call. He is shocked when he looks up and Paris is standing in his office. To say Paris is stunned is an understatement. These two have shared a past that they can't forget but are forced to face while they work together to find the girl Valentino has taken before she is found dead. What they find is a sex club frequented by high school girls and that Dean's son may have been one of the last people to see Janey the girl that is now confirmed missing. Somehow Valentino is involved and it's a race against time to find out who the quite spoken Valentino really is. Plenty of secondary characters are introduced which causes many twist and turns in the plot. You won't be sure who the bad guy is until the very end. Plenty of suspense, action, and the secondary plot revolving around Paris and Dean's relationship both past and present cause "Hello Darkness" to be a fast paced read that you won't want to miss.
Rating: Summary: A Serial Killer is Watching Her Review: Judge Kemp has been discretely paying police officers to keep his daughter's indiscretions out of the press and they've done a marvelous job at it, kept her indiscretions from him as well. Underage Janey Kemp belongs to the Sex Club, an internet group that meets nightly for fun, games and sex. However not all the members are high school students, and one of the members had a childhood most of us would rather not know about. Late Night DJ Paris Gibson gets a phone call from one of her listeners. Seems she'd advised his latest flame to breakup with him. To get even he has kidnapped the girl, is going to use and abuse her for three days and then he's going to kill her. He wants Paris to know, it's her punishment for meddling. Paris goes to the cops under the watchful eyes of the caller, who just happens to be a serial killer in the making and it appears Paris is next on his list. This book is a fun read and there is just enough romance in it between Paris and Criminal Psychologist Dean Malloy to keep Brown's romance fans happy, but not so much that it would turn off fans of a fast paced thriller. "Hello, Darkness" is a five star book that I heartily enjoyed. Reviewed by Vesta Irene
Rating: Summary: Sandra Improves with Each Book She Writes!!!!!!!!! Review: To have begun as a "romance novelist", Sandra has come SO far into the world of reality and it's a pleasure to listen to each new audio she releases. I thought "The Crush" had to be the best, but she won out again with her newest "Darkness" novel. Being a Texan myself I can identify with many of the places she writes about, and being a Sheriff's Deputy for many years I can also lose myself in her stories where crime scenes are involved. She definitely did her homework on this one, including the use of the Internet for sex meets. I'd like to think that more parents would read or listen to this book and realize that this doesn't just happen to other people's kids. It could be happening right under your own nose. Sneaking out bedroom windows at night (and back in)....children having sex without even knowing the name of their partners or anything about them...and the pompous attitude of the judge who cared more about his re-election status than the betterment of his own daughter is so REAL in today's society. The entire book just screams of realism, which in itself is so sad but I believe it was wonderfuly written by an author who has come up through the ranks. Those of you who don't listen to the unabridged audio version miss out on so much, including the chilling pauses when Valentino calls in and also when his voice suddenly changes. I would recommend this book to anyone - especially a parent of a teenager. And to Sandra, I want to say you've improved 100% in your methods and I hope you stay on the path you're on. You're doing an incredible job.
Rating: Summary: Suspenseful Thriller Review: While the contents of the book is disturbing. It is a very good novel. With suspenseful characters such as Paris,Dean,Stan and others. Ending is excellent. While some of Sandra's Brown novels have been lackluster in the past. This makes up for it.
Rating: Summary: An up-all-night page turner! Review: Popular late night radio show host Paris Gibson has had her share of crank calls, but something about the call from Valentino strikes her as more than a crank. For Valentino this call is about revenge and the upcoming terror he plans to wreak on Paris. Valentino explains of the broken heart he has due to his girlfriend leaving him on the advice of Paris. As a result of the breakup he has kidnapped the ex-girlfriend and plans to kill her in 72 hours, and after that he plans on going after Paris. Teaming with the Austin police department, Paris is in a race against the clock to stop a killer before he carries out his threats, and to make matters worse the police have enlisted the help of Dean Malloy, a criminal psychologist of whom Paris shares a past. As time runs out, Paris is forced to confront old memories, as well as her feelings towards Dean, but most importantly the shocking realization that the killer may not be a stranger. 'Hello, darkness' is a fast-paced thriller that surprises with every turn of the page. From page one a twisted tale of sex and murder grabs hold, with one shocking twist after another, all leading to a very satisfying and stunning conclusion. Filled with great characters, as well as Brown's trademark plot twists, 'Hello, darkness' proves to be her most suspenseful novel to date. Sandra Brown has been at the forefront of thriller writers with her best-selling novels and her latest is further proof of her mastery in creating edge of your seat thrillers. Set aside some time and be prepared to stay up all night turning the pages of this non-stop thrill ride. Expect to see 'Hello, darkness' dominating the top spot on all the list's. A MUST read. Rating: Summary: Another hit by Brown... Review: Paris Gibson is serving her penance for betraying the man she loved. Keeping herself away from the outside world and having hardly any contact with it, Paris has convinced herself that she is happy. Working the midnight shift at a radio station, Paris loves what she does, especially since it is the only human contact she has. Through her listeners, she feels alive. That all changes when she receives a phone call from 'Valentino', who blames Paris for the break up of his relationship and swears that she will be sorry. Paris now has seventy two hours to find out who the mystery girl is before Valentino has sworn to kill her. Dean Malloy moved to Austin for a change in pace. After agreeing with his ex-wife about their son, Dean is now a single father trying to balance his professional and personal life. Not having much luck with his son, things aren't much better with the woman who wants to marry him. She doesn't know the source of his cold feet however, only he does. When Paris suddenly reenters his life after seven long and lonely years, Dean swears to himself that this time he will convince her that they belong together. Before he can do that though, he has to find a pyscopath who has fixated on Paris and protect his son from being hurt. Hello, Darkness is Sandra Brown at her best. A great story of suspense with just enough steamy romance thrown in to hook a romance reader. The sexual tension between Dean and Paris is HOT! :) Don't miss this newest from Brown. I can't wait till her next one comes out, but I know I'll have a long wait.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: I was disappointed in her last few books but this one makes up for it, great book! worth the sleep I missed staying up to finish it
Rating: Summary: extraordinary suspense thriller Review: Valentino isn't at all pleased when his girlfriend called radio host Paris Gibson for advice, especially when the talk jock advises her to dump him after hearing that he is getting too possessive. In fact, Valentino is so angry that he calls Paris and berates her saying that he is holding his ex-girlfriend and will kill her in seventy-two hours. Paris believes him and takes the audiotape to the police who take the threat very seriously especially after a judge's daughter goes missing. With little time to find the teen, the police ask their resident psychologist to help them. When Dean and Paris see each other for the first time in seven years, all the old buried feelings rise to the surface. The situation is made even more volatile when Valentino threatens Paris and Dean is determined to protect her so they can have the chance that was once denied them. When one thinks of Sandra Brown one thinks of extraordinary suspense thrillers and her latest work only enhances that reputation. There is plenty of action in this tense and gritty tale but the author also keeps the sexual tension high between the two protagonists. Their personal drama is played out over several key chapters without distracting the reader from the main story line that blends into a great read. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: HELLO DARKNESS Review: Sandra Brown is one of my favorite suspense writers. I enjoyed some of her other works such as ' ENVY' and 'THE CRUSH' and 'HELLO DARKENESS' ranks right up there with some of my favorites. It is a race against time when radio personality Paris Gibbson receives a terrifying phone call from a regular listener who goes by the name of Valentino. Valentino claims that upon Paris' advise his girlfriend is going to break up with him, so he has kidnapped her and plans to kill her in 72 hours leaving the girls death on Paris' conscious. When Paris enlists the help of the Austin police force she meets up with detective Dean Malloy someone who she though she had left in the past when she left her home town of Huston after a tragic accident. As time winds down Paris and Malloy try desperately to find Valentino, while simultaneously trying to reconcile with their past, before he carries out his threat. This is a fast paced novel that truly kept me guessing until the very end.
