Summary: Hard to put down
Review: I just finished this book last night and thought it was incredible. Its so different from his others novels, but I had a hard time putting it down, because you want to know what happens next.

Summary: A Purple and Gold House
Review: A Painted House is about a young boy named Luke Chandler who learns that his world around him. In September 1952 Luke's family must get help to harvest the cotton on their farm. The people that the family brings in changes Luke's world. Many secrets are told to Luke, he discovers a great many more. Many of the secrets could just hurt people, but others can devistate. I like this book because it has many of the tings I like in books. It has suspence, love, heartache, and mystery. I can with out a doubt say that this is one of the best books I have read. Luke learns in one summer what many people take a life time to learn, and that is why I think I like it.

Summary: A painted House-so hot right now-A Painted House
Review: A Painted House is excellent. Grisham is a master of imagery and uses it to paint a detailed picture of what its like growing up in rural Arkansas. The characters are developed quite extensively. By the end you want to know more about what they did later. The only problem with the book is that I wish it would have turned out differently, but you'll have to find that out for yourself. Overall I liked the book very much and woul recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Ashley's Painted House
Review: John Grisham's A Painted House is a wonderfully written book. The style is similar to that of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. The story is told from a seven year old's point of view. This point of view adds a different dimension to A Painted House. Because Luke Chandler, 7, tells the story, simple work days turn into exaggerated and humorous adventures. Also the issue of each generation wanting more for their children is discussed in this book. Luke's mother longs to leave the farm so that her son will have more opportunities. Incorporating recurring issues is what makes a classic. I feel that in years to come this book might become a classic taught in high school English classes.

Summary: Zach's Painted House
Review: I thought this book was very good. I would reccomend "A Painted House" to anybody who likes a real life situation with plenty of action. It dealt with a poor family trying to make their crop work even though the weather wouldn't cooperate with them. If you like baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, then you would like some of the parts. If you like fights or brawls then you will think this book is excellent. This book keeps the reader into the story and while you read you do not want to put the book down. It really does not have any dull parts. Do not let the title of this book fool you. It might seem boring but it is really an exciting book to pick up. Over all this is a good book to read at any age.

Summary: Another Speculating Novel
Review: The characters are well-descpripted in Mr. Grisham's "A Painted House" Novel...However, I think that it lacks the flow of the story...Some of the parts were dreary that I kept on skipping sentences....The first chapters were interesting but drags on the final pages of the book...Despite of these, the best elements of this novel are the colorful characters.

Summary: Loved this book!
Review: This was a very different book for John Grisham. It was very enjoyable. A hard to put down book. A coming of age read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Such an enjoyable book....
Review: I was slow to decide to listen to the book. I love Grisham's legal thrillers, although I believe he was better in the beginning. Now I have only one regret; I listened to the 'abridged' version rather than the unabridged version. I feel I missed what surely would have been more pleasure.

This is one of those books that is written with warm clarity and in such a straight-forward manner about complex folks living a simple life. You can feel the heat of the fields, walk the famililar sidewalks of the town, and become an unseeen visitor in the kitchen and front yard of this home.

The characters become so well known to you that you are saddened as they part from your life when the story ends. As another reviewer indicated; I want more. I would so enjoy following this family as they meet new problems, fresh experiences, and grow as individuals and as a family.

Written from the perspective of a young child with a heart and head full of secrets, a life filled with hardships, and a family held together by love, this book returns us to a simpler time, reminds us of your roots, and provides wonderful enjoyment as we spend a little time in the lives of these warm people.

I hope the author sees fit to provide us with a sequel.

Summary: A Disappointment
Review: The story line was frustrating. I found it very hard to believe that a seven year old boy could be a part of so many secrets and not be overwhelmed! The ending, or lack thereof(!), was especially disappointing.

Summary: A book I would read, if I read books.
Review: An excellent audio book. As a daily commuter, this book was a real stress reliever. All Grisham books have been good, but I enjoyed this one the most so far.
