Summary: I thought I was there....running next to the characters
Review: From page one I could not put this book down.
This is the second book without the WWII storyline, and I must say it kept me right in the moment much easier.
A definite keeper....keep them coming!!!

Summary: Loved it!
Review: Hm. It's interesting...reviewers giving this book one or two stars...and a bad review because it contained new characters we're not used to yet? I guess it just goes to show we're not all alike in our taste. Personally, I loved it. I liked the characters...liked the storyline. It did keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. I finished the entire book in a day and a half, which is pretty spectacular. Several other friends of mine did the same....which tells me Brockmann hasn't lost her edge at all. I, personally, would love to see more of the same. As with others here, can't wait for Decker's story.

Summary: I'm sorry to say... it left me unsatsified.
Review: I am a #1 Suz Brockmann fan who's read all her books. The writing in Flashpoint is technically very good. HOWEVER, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is very hard to be "pulled" into any of these characters. The two main characters are a pushover (Tess) and a foul-mouthed emotional basket case (Nash). It is very difficult to see why Tess would fall in love with Nash. Maybe Suz is trying to create more complicated characters with more demons. However, I think she went too far with Nash. Decker is really the hero of the story who pulls at your heart, yet has only an unresolved subplot. Additionally, the sequence of events (and flashbacks) she uses to tell the story seem ineffective. Who edited this?? I would have definitely made the story more sequential. Doing so may have increased our understanding and empathy of these characters, especially the Nash and Tess relationship. (Suz, I'll volunteer to edit your next book:)) All in all, it's worth a read but is not a keeper. Suz, I'll look forward to your next book with baited breath! Maybe Decker/Sophia??

Summary: Suzanne wrote this?
Review: I am a huge fan of Brockmann's, but oh my goodness, I don't think she wrote this installment of the NavySeals. I liked the characters, but their danger and action scenes fell flat for me because of thier behavior and dialog I either wanted to laugh or encourage the terrorists to take them out for violation of good character exchange! I will still read Brockmann because there isn't anyone out there who writes like she does or makes you feel what the characters feel like she does....BUT, I just might have to wait for the next one to hit paperback instead of killing myself to get to the bookstore on the first day of release.

Summary: Hate to follow the crowd, but...
Review: I bought this book as soon as it was available and did in fact read it in one day. Unfortunately, I hate to say that I was very disappointed. I'm not sure who made the choices, Ms. Brockmann or her editor, but this one just wasn't on par with her other novels. The entire story was so disjointed and choppy that I found myself rereading scenes because it didn't make sense the first time. Many of the flashbacks added to my confusion, or drew attention away from the flow of the story more than if the scene had been written chronologically. The characters weren't fleshed out enough to cause reader sympathy or empathy. We know that Nash has a bad reputation in Spec Ops, but no real reason why; in the story he is shown "adopting" the jobless or homeless into his teams as though he feels for them, and making a concentrated effort to help a local poor woman and her family before even leaving the US for K-stan. We have no real background on Tess other than she is from the Midwest. These characters seem too flat to fall in love with each other, let alone for the reader to fall in love with either of them. There is a lack of both romance and action, with none of the relentless pacing Brockmann is known for. The book seems like an effort written under a very strict time limit that would have been much better as a longer book with more backstory on all the characters, or a shorter book focused on the action in K-stan. Part of the disappointment with this book might have been that there was such a clamor and anticipation for Sam and Alyssa, that they are almost impossible to top after six books of tight plotting and suspense leading to their own happily ever after.
But I don't want to be totally negative. It's great that Brockmann is continuing with her SEAL and former SEAL characters. Readers love to "come home" so to speak, and hang out with the characters they know and meet new ones. This book was definitely an exception to the rule and I expect Cosmo's book to be right up there with the rest of Team 16 stories. I can't wait to see Decker, though I do agree that we don't need another Max and Gina. Though Max and Gina can reappear anytime (hint hint)in their own story. I certainly plan to buy Cosmo's book as soon as it is available and will probably devour it in an evening as well.
Basically, this was a good book that unfortunately didn't live up to its expectations from loyal Brockmann readers. But if you are loyal, you know the next one will.

Summary: What the Heck Happened???
Review: I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Suzanne Brockmann is my favorite author. However, after waiting months upon months for this book to come out I was so disapointed. Brockmann can drag a reader into a story better than any writer I know but this quality is sadly lacking in her newest realese.

When I first found out that Brockmann was going to introduce a whole new set of charcters I was excited. These guys (although not Navy SEALs) are supposed to be the best of the best of the best. Am I the only one who wondered where these people's focus was? On a mission in nightmare of a country, all the characters could think about was who was "getting with" whom. Where was the gut wrenching plot? Where was the suspense that has made Brockmann famous. My only hope is that her next book (Cosmo's) will do credit to her amazing talent

Summary: Very Good Read
Review: I enjoyed this book from the beginning. The opening scene was a great introduction to the main characters and their relationship to each other, plus a good laugh. Flashpoint moves at a nice pace and held my interest throughout. The only complaint I have - - I didn't feel that I got to "know" Tess and Nash as well as I would have liked. However, the action was great and unpredictable. The secondary characters were also interesting. The fact that this book deals with current world issues was a plus for me. It felt fresh and timely. The best I have read in a while. Suzanne Brockmann fans will not be disappointed.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I found Suzanne Brockmann's books last year and was thrilled to find an author that I wanted to read her books 2 and 3 times each. So, I was looking forward to her new book......but I was sorely disappointed. I couln't have cared less about the characters (except Decker) and the storyline was just a little too unbelievable. I think the author may have rushed things in order to get a new book on the shelf. I am still looking forward to Cosmo's book (he's always been one of my favorites) and will buy it the first day in hardback. Hopefully the author will flesh these characters out a little more and we can care about why they are they way they are and can hope for a happy ending for them. I couldn't have cared less when Tess and Nash got together (what a lame way to do it - sounded like somthing from junior high) and really would have gotten more pleasure from Tess telling Nash to go blow. Oh well....

Summary: Loved the story, thanks Suzanne!!
Review: I had to write a positive review for this book. I have read all of the Troubleshooters series, and though I missed the characters I have come to know and love, I really enjoyed Nash and Tess. I think Sue is taking this series and elaborating on the plots and character sets, and has done it very well with this example. I love the absence of the flashbacks/sub plot factor in this book as well. Keep up the great work Ms. Brockmann!
