Rating: Summary: Great book - as always by Clancy Review: This book really rocks and it is excellent , as all of Tom Clancy's are !!!!
Rating: Summary: Leave all your fears behind you- here comes Jack Ryan Review: Reading that book is like to dive in the deepest groove in the ocean with darkness and pressure, sometimes without hope come back.Page by page you will feel real drama of U.S. beheaded by japanese kamikaze, wounded with Ebola virus by muslim fanatics etc. It`s impossible to retell Mr.Clancy cause you won`t be able to take your eyes over novel untill you finish it. But on the last page of Jack Ryan`s incredible carrier you`ll feel emptiness- unfortunately it`s difficult to continue it. I don`t know the rank higher than President but if you guys have any ideas how can mr. Clancy give to Jack new portion of blood - tell it at once. From Russia with Love.
Rating: Summary: A long but gripping read Review: This book grabs you from the first chapter and never lets go. I hadnt read "Debt of Honor" so I opened the book and was greeted by the fact that the US government was wiped out and Jack Ryan (Clancy's eternal protagonist) was President of the United States. Wow! Clancy does a superb job of building up the plot. At the begining it is interesting to see how Ryan will handle being the President and how he'll repair the shattered government. Slowly, conflicts are brought into the story. Iran and China emerge to test a shaken America. Political struggles hamper Ryan, despite his intention not be drawn into that game. The excellent story and writing easily make up for the fact that the book is 800+ pages. If you always are sad when you finish a good book, well here is a book that takes twice as long as to finish as most books today.
Rating: Summary: just too long Review: killing the president along with rest of the government was rather interesting. but i have to say that clancy dragged the plot a little too much. also portraying the beliefs of a madman (especially a fictitious one ) as those of a religion ( in this case Islam ) is just not on.
Rating: Summary: A thrilling page-turner Review: This is one of the best books Clancy has written. If you are a Tom Clancy fan, this is a must. Clancy is one of the best when it comes to portraying government and armed forces.
Rating: Summary: The best of Clancy, with his incredible length Review: This is perhaps Clancy's best novel, but also his longest. The plot moves smoothly, but you must have patience.
Rating: Summary: A very believeable story Review: That's the scary part. This is something that could happen today. Other than that, it's a great read.
Rating: Summary: An eye opener on the subject of leadership & terrorrism Review: First of all, if it seems confusing then read Debt of Honor first. If you have read it then re-read it. This book is probably the last book of the Jack Ryan saga, as well it should be. He is catapulted to President of the United States after a horrible attack on the country's leadership. He knows he is in over his head and doesn't really want to be there but he knows the burden of responsibility is one that he cannot run away from. He must rebuild the government and keep it together through a biological attack, terrorism, and political power struggles by the force of his own will. Definitly his finest book.
Rating: Summary: An encyclopedia that is as entertaining as a novel Review: And I thought "Debt of Honor" was long! That book was 300 pages longer than anything Tom Clancy had written before, and "Executive Orders" surpassed DOH in length by 350 pages! This book is longer and of greater content than most dictionaries, but is infinitely better. "Debt of Honor" ended in a cliffhanger with the entire US government wiped out in one foul swoop by a vengeful Japanese pilot. Only Jack Ryan, Clancy's protagonist throughout his best-selling books, and newly inaugurated Vice-President, survives, and takes the reins of a country devasted by economic and military attacks. As shown in Clancy's previous works, Jack tries to avoid politics as much as possible, but now he is in a job that is the most political in the free world. And internationally, Jack also made some enemies along the way, and they decide the time is right for them to take their vengeance. Old enemies India and China again rear their ugly heads as they challenge the US militarily, and they are joined by the Ayatollah Daryei of Iran, who is driven by his religious convictions. The America hating Ayatollah derives a gameplan to strike at the heart of both the US and its new leader (I won't give away the plotlines) My first interest in Tom Clancy's books came because I was interested in the workings of the military and the technologies they use. "Executive Orders" serves up another military extravaganza, with the best land battle Clancy has written since "Red Storm Rising". I believe that with "Executive Orders", Mr. Clancy has reached the pinnacle of the Jack Ryan series. I don't think Jack can go much higher than President of the United States, unless Clancy wants to make him King of the World. Also, Mr. Clancy has destroyed so many of the world's enemies in his books. The Soviet Union, the Middle East, Japan, and Iran are places that have been pacified in Tom's literature. So unless he wants to make Indonesia a superpower and turn them against the US, he is going to run out of ideas. I forsee at least one or two more books of the Ryan series (besides Rainbow 6) that will resolve the whole China-India thing, and after that the world will live happier ever after and Tom Clancy will have to start anew.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic!--One of, if not the best yet!! Review: I really enjoyed this one! I couldn't wait for this one to come out (especially after reading Debt of Honor). From the start of the mention of the Jack Ryan and Mr. Clark characters, Tom Clancy intertwines all these characters, it seems, one way or another. I really got hooked on these books after seeing the movie--"The Hunt for Red October", starring Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin. With all the suspense that is built up with each resulting book, it really makes you wander what interesting thing that Clancy is going to come up with next. With Rainbow Six out (where he again mentions John Clark and indirectly mentions the character of Jack Ryan), I can't wait for the next installment! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK-TOM!!! BRING ON YOUR NEXT BOOK-I DEFINITELY WILL BUT IT!!!!!
