Summary: I wish I had read this book sooner!
Review: This is the best book concerning parenting teenagers I have ever read. It tells you what is normal, gives practical advice and support. I read it with my husband. We both gained so much. Our home is a place of peace again. I only wish I had read it while our child was in junior high. I can not recommend it enough. The author's style is not sugar coated or overly theoretical. It provides just enough information to help you make sence of and empathize with your child's behavior. He takes a strong stance on some issues but recognizes that his is not the only opinion and I appreciate this. The humor was uplifting allowing us to laugh at ourselves and our situation.

Summary: Living With Teenagers
Review: I found this book to be excellent. I have 2 teenagers and the book really enlightened me on a number of things. I thought I was the only one with the issues in the book so I felt so good to know the things I am going through are very common with teenagers. I recommend this book for anyone with a teenager.

Summary: This book helped me realize why teenagers act so obnoxious
Review: As a mother of 3 teenagers and step-mom to 2 more teenagers, it has helped me focus why our almost adult children behave this way. What are those hissy fits all about? How they try to manipulate a parent into getting what they really want -- freedom to do what ever they please. This book helps give parents the upper hand back without the fighting. It has brought the stress level down in our house. I would recommend this book to any one who is trying to figure out who that species of a teenager is.

Summary: Too Simplistic
Review: My impression, and it comes with the experience of parenting two teens, is that this is just another of the current books that try to boil very complex issues into one or two key factors. The author makes broad generalizations about all teens, and then tells us how to react. Sorry, it's not that easy. Take your kid to a ball game, buy her a malt or go for a walk and just talk. You'll learn so much more than in this book.

Summary: Keep this book handy at all times to prove you're not crazy!
Review: How do you love this "new" person who comes into your home and disrupts everything in your life? Dr. Wolf does a wonderful job of calming frazzled parents and letting us know there is light at the end of the tunnel. He gives practical advice on how to help a teen make the difficult transition into adulthood. We are not perfect parents, but this book is helping us maintain a loving, nurturing relationship with our teen.

Summary: Lots of good information.
Review: A very helpful book on raising pre-teens and teens. Gives lots of insight and ideas. Also suggested: Kid Cooperation (How to Stop Yelling, Nagging and Pleading) by Elizabeth Pantley

Summary: A survival guide for the adolescent mindfield
Review: This is an excellent book for parents of kids age 11 thru high school. I have a 16 year old girl and a 12 year old boy plus another boy who as yet has been spared from the turmoil and battles of adolesence. My daughter is beginning to emerge from this "adolescent phase" that the author keeps referring to. We are once again beginning to enjoy her as a person and have learned that we all survived " adolesence" intact. This book helps parents to see that their adolescents are " normal" as are their responses to the adolescent. A helpful guide to learning when to back off and to keep skirmishs from errupting into full fledged battles. I have purchased several copies for friends to help them survive the adolescent mindfield.

Summary: A good conversation starter.
Review: I liked the book. It gave my wife and I a starting point for trying to understand our first teenager's behavior. It's main point is that being a teenager today is different than when we were 14, and understanding where they are coming from can help us deal with behaviors that were totally unacceptable from us at 14. If you want a "Do this...." sort of book you will be disappointed. It offers a point of view that we didn't necessarily agree with 100%, but it helped us to find what we do agree on.

Summary: Understand your teen before you read another doctors book
Review: I'm a teen who happened to read this book. It's all bull. Every teen is different and you cant categorize all of them into one group. And maybe it is you....parents do a lot to influence their kids growing up. Otherwise there wouldn't be so called "good kids " and bad kids....people and ADULTs especially dont even care to find out from us instead you have to read a book thats not even reality! So ask your kid before you try to understand them with a book because then you'll never understand... This book caused me and my rents to drift further not closer!

Summary: A Must Have Survival Guide For The Teen Years!
Review: Anthony Wolf provides an outstanding perspective on "your growing teen". You will find comfort and familiarity in his insightful portrayal of the "teen stages". I clicked with this book after the first two pages! You'll come to understand your teen better and receive comfort when you realize it's not just you. Great book for all parents of teens. A "must have" in any family library.
