Rating: Summary: I accept Review: The Invitation is incredibly moving. It invites you to live life more fully, and feel all there is to feel-both the good and bad. I don't know what I was expecting to find when I picked up this book, but I got more than I could have hoped for. One of the most compelling aspects of this book is that Oriah Mountain Dreamer is not afraid to practice what she preaches. Actually she doesn't preach at all, which is extremely refreshing. Here is a woman who has gone through it all, and is not afraid to be REAL. She is not some New Age guru living in a bubble, this is a real woman who can move you to tears with simple profound wisdom, and still admit to you she gets irked with her teenage sons for leaving wet towels on the bathroom floor. What a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: Awesome description on dealing with life from one who has. Review: Read it ,feel it,then go out and deal with it.A practical yet deeply moving guide from one who has survived a terrible decade and has lived to design a guide for us to do the same.
Rating: Summary: The ramblings of a distraught woman Review: The writings and ramblings of an emotional woman. She justifies faithlessness by the needs of our egos to be free! Are you kidding?! If this is poetry or "fine prose" I must be reading another titled book. What a waste of time and money.
Rating: Summary: Guide Posts Along A Spiritual Path Review: The poem changed my life! Its energy first came to me 2-1/2 years ago and I was mesmerized by its content and exasperated by its challenges. After first discovering the poem, I must have read it 30 times, over and over and over again. But each time I read it, I could feel myself becoming angrier and angrier because I could not answer "yes" to a single challenge. But I was hooked and the power of the poem began to work on me. From then on, when I encountered fear and pain along my path, and felt myself trying to "hide it, fade it or fix it", my mind and spirit drew upon its wisdom...and I grew. I gave myself permission to "risk looking like a fool for love...for the adventure of being alive". I now "look for beauty every day and try to source...life from its presence". I let myself "dance with wildness and let the ecstacy fill me" to the tips of my fingers and toes. But most of all, when my life experiences those momentary pauses, those deep breathes and sighs between social heartbeats, when I am alone with myself, I "truly like the company" I keep in those empty moments. Each chapter is based upon Oriah's own experiences, but I could feel "me" as the book's subject and magically relate my experiences to the wisdom and challenges of the poem. The poem and book so deftly drew me into the process and importance of life. It is a New Age Zen. It is simple, it is profound...it is undiluted wisdom.

Rating: Summary: this is what you lie on your death bed thinking about. Review: this book grabbed me at a time when I was feeling pretty down in the dumps. Wondering when the magic of life was going to strike again. While I was reading this I felt like it was being written just for me. I could relate to so much of it. It made me realize that even when we are feeling sad or lonely, to stay with it and go to the depth of it. That is when we slowly start coming out of it with more knowledge and awareness of who we are. It's about being authentic. Who you really are underneath all the pretenses. And staying with your pain or someone else's and knowing your going to survive it and be more of who you are because of it.
Rating: Summary: Heart stopping--heart healing. Review: Oriah Mountain Dreamer was inside my soul, my heart and the essence of who I am and who I strive to be when she wrote this book. I have never read a book with such honesty or such truth as to what we all go through as a spirit and as a human being. Or what a dance it is to keep them balanced and full of hope, faith, love and longing. What a wonderful gift she has bestowed on all of us! What a book for the world to read, to savor, to absorb, to dwell on and live by!! Not since "Conversations with God-Book I" have I wanted to buy a copy for EVERYONE I know.
