Summary: A devastatingly simple and profoundly wise book of hope.
Review: This little treasure of a book takes ordinary life and elevates it to mystical status.It is one of the most moving books I have ever read and when I finished the last page I actually felt better about myself than I have in a long time. Do not misunderstand, this isn't some flaky new-age message. This book is firmly rooted in real-life but it manages to make the mundane trials of our lives seem more like a dance with the divine that connects all humans. I would hate to say anything that might make potential readers shy away from this book, and I really am not able to convey its beauty or the feeling of peace I felt while visiting the noble world illuminated by Ms. Mountain Dreamers words but please, as a favor to yourself and someone you love, find this book and read it. Your soul will thank you.

Summary: I knew I could not be the only one!
Review: To begin I must thank this wonderful woman for her courage to share this wonderful book with the world. I would then like to thank her for letting me know that I am not strange or weird and nor are my thoughts on living my life as I have thought for so long. She has given me the okay to be who I am, because I strived for so long to let others know who I was, and now I see myself in the pages of her book. I believed all that she writes and hid this because others could not see what I was trying to say. Now I have a book, a guide to pass on to those who look puzzled at me and wonder 'who are you'. I am the one who lives through my heart, soul, and lives life with love. Thank you for setting me free and to all of those who have crossed my path, wondered who I was, read this book and find the answers to your questions.

Review: This book touched me deeply.The book was a "raw" and very honest expression of what I believe all our souls yearn to say! This book touches on the total experience of being human and of feeling our emotions fully. I am not surprised that this book was such a HUGE success for her! She has an amazing gift of expression. (Unfortunately her other books, for me were not as good as THE INVITATION).To A.Dax from Torrance,CA who posted a review about this book: are you sure you read the same INVITATION as the rest of us?I never found any "cop-out" connotations that you were going on about.This book is a masterpiece!Along with my favourite authors Eckard Tolle and Anthony de Mello, Oriah's "Invitation" is an absolute must read!

Summary: A warm and earnest appraisal of life's experiences
Review: This book was like none other I have read. Oriah expresses herself in a beautifully poetic yet also extremely earnest way. She talks about all those things that you think about but never quite knew how to verbalize. What do sorrow and pain mean? What does your soul truly long for and how do you get to that awareness? Who are you really? Her words reach down into the reader's heart and soul and awaken self-awareness. Oriah was 'discovered' by Oprah. The author herself is an excellent speaker. I recommend seeing her at a workshop and buying her tapes. She is based in Canada and longs to lead a hermetic life, but perhaps the calling to teach may keep her in the mainstream for us a while longer. You will finish this book in two days and give it to people you love.

Summary: Real life wisdom
Review: The poem, The Invitation, was sent to me by a friend about a year ago via the web. For many months I wondered where and who it came from. When I found this book I purchased it immediately and have read a bit everyday since then. It touches me deeply in the place where hope still thrives in me. I have been in two abusive marriages and watched other relationships around me fall apart, I found a way to feel hope and faith from this book. Oriah Mountain Dreamer talks about thoughts and feelings I have experienced and she puts them down in words so eloquently. She shows me that others have experienced what I have experienced, I am not alone. Her words come from real life experience and show true wisdom. It is alright to embrace our humanity, make mistakes and be a fool for love!

Summary: RISK LOOKING LIKE A FOOL
Review: This is one of about 1/2 dozen books I keep in my bedroom-- the rest are in the office on shelves/bookcases. This is one of the few that has the honor of being read and re-read. It is one that I recommend to my career counseling clients and to anyone going through a transition (aren't we all)in life and/or love. Simple, easy to read, touching and memorable. An easy one to re-read at 3 am on one of THOSE mornings!!!

Summary: Poetic Seduction to Grow more into You
Review: A special lady capable of using beautiful poetic language while still keeping an eye for the mundane. As in the book itself the ordinary life and the efforts to become more spiritual are entwined. This seduces the reader to find the spiritual in the mundane and vice versa. I have read this book in one breath and enjoyed it very much. Even though I expected it to be a 'typical womens book' it is not. Maybe even more attractive to men due to the mixture of the temporal and the spiritual. Fully in life and all about that which is beyond the obvious. A good read that leaves its message lingering in the mind... as an invitation.

Review: A wonderful book, authentic and realistic, it is very down-to-earth-spiritually. Oriah is an expressive, elegant writer.
