Summary: OK for beginners to Weight Training & Bodybuilding
Review: Having read a recent exerpt from "Body for Life" in Bill Phillip's Musclemedia magazine, I thought the book would get into a lot more detail than the article. I found the beginning to be nothing more than testimonials from individuals and couples who all said the program changed their lives-inspirational yes, but I can get that from Bill's magazines & his ads for his supplements. I was looking for more of a direct approach ("here's how to do this, why it works the way it does, and how it applies to you"). Instead, I feel I read a slightly longer excerpt from his magazine with really no added information. For someone who needs advice on weight training or bodybuilding, and who has really never done research before, this book may be a good find.

Summary: Why only one star?
Review: First off let me say that Bill Phillips is running a business. Of course he is in it for profit. He should profit from his work and he does quite well from MuscleMedia, EAS, NeoElite, USR, etc. I'm happy to see him donate book profits to charity, good for him. Now why do I give his book one star? This book is too much of an advertisement for his products. I felt like I bought a book telling me how my life will change with Amway. Maybe my life will change if I get involved with Amway but I don't want to read a book about it. Second, Bill's program does not contain any new information. Basically the book is a rehash of Bill's magazine and other fitness books. Third, Bill's tone is a bit much. Bill strokes his ego more than the average bear.

This book is a one star book to counter all those 5 star reviews. If the positive reviews were honest they would give this book three stars, as it deserves.

Summary: Bill does it again!!!!
Review: First of all, living in Alabama, there is no way that I am on the EAS staff. That would be a dream come true. The book is full of information that will help anyone achieve his/her goals if the desire is there. This is not a get rich quick scheme cooked up by Bill, the money that he makes from this book and his video goes directly to the make-a-wish foundation. Bill is the KING of motivation and this book proves it. He cares about everyone who has the desire to build a better body and life. His company is on the cutting edge of technology (remember EAS gave us Creatine and HMB FIRST!).

I am starting this twelve week (and beyond)program and can't wait to benefit from it.

Thanks again Bill and keep up the good work!

Summary: Republished Magazine Articles
Review: Body for Life is a compilation of author Bill Phillips' magazine MuscleMedia. About 75% of the book was already published in the magazine at one time and I would be willing to bet the other 25% will appear within the next 6 months. The workout itself is very good. I have tried it before, because it was in the magazine about 2 months ago, and if done correctly does produce results. The diet section leaves a lot to be desired. All in all, I feel it is a below average book that can be read by looking at the last two issues of MuscleMedia.

Summary: Good fitness advice for beginners, bad nutrition advice
Review: While Bill Phillips has put together a very basic fitness program that will be effective for beginners, he is also providing dubious nutrition advice. OVER consumption of protein is not necessary to build a great body (look at Arnold) and can lead to serious health problems (osteoporosis, heart disease, etc). He also advocates the use of highly processed supplements (his own or others) containing numerous chemicals such as aspartame (an invitation to cancer). If you want a great body AND great long-term health, follow a natural whole foods diet. With the money you'll save from buying supplements and other processed foods buy a gym membership and/or the services of a personal trainer.

Summary: Simply beautiful
Review: Bill's program is so elegantly simple it almost seems too easy, but it really does work for ANYONE, and it does exactly what he says it does--it transforms you, not just your body but your very life. This truly is the only bodybuilding book you'll ever need. It's that simple.

Summary: A great exercise/nution plan that you never outgrow.
Review: I certainly get the feeling that some of the negative and positive comments are based on how some individuals feel about Bill Phillips, EAS, & Myoplex, etc.- not honest reviews of this book.

I have read the every word of Body-for-LIFE and can highly recommend it. Beyond the motivational success stories and "crossing the Abyss" sections, the main message of Body-for- LIFE is you can have a great body AND have a life too. It accomplishes this brilliantly by providing specific exercise and nutrition strategies that you never outgrow. It details HOW to exercise (rep-by-rep & minute-by-minute) and exactly how and when to eat to produce amazing results. For example: I've commuted to work via bicycle for months which is a mundane chore at best -- up until now. I applied Bill's 20-minute-aerobic solution to my bike ride and now my commute has become a 20-minute-sweat producing-fat burning-super intense workout that leaves me refreshed and ready to work.

On a personal note, I just completed round four of the transformation challenge using these principles. The Training-for-LIFE chapter was published in a previous Muscle Media issue and a sneak preview was on the internet so I downloaded the forms and followed the exercise exactly as outlined. Does it work? You judge. I'm 36 years old and in 12 weeks I lost 31 lbs. of fat and gained 15 lbs of lean muscle doing less than 4 hours/week of weight training and cardio!

Although I had seen many of the principles from the book before in Muscle Media/EAS website, etc., I really liked the new stuff I hadn't seen before: specific exercises, authorized food lists, menu suggestions, crossing the abyss and the glossary. I plan on buying several copies of this book and giving it out to people I care about the most. Enjoy!

Note: I've never met Bill Phillips and I'm not affiliated with EAS in any way. I took the time to express my opinion because I have been exposed to some principles that have literally changed my life for the better and I hope I can help influence others to do the same.

Summary: Good information that works from the inside out.
Review: Okay, there are obviously two camps that have reviewed this book. On one hand, people that have come to it with and honest open mind... on the other, frustrated gym rats that are looking for another miracle workout to blast them into molecular dislocation. The book is what it purports to be folks... a guideline on how to build a stronger mind and body. It is well worth the price of admission.

Summary: Nearly miraculous
Review: I'll get straight to the point: two months ago, I weighed 260 pounds(6'2"), 37% of which was fat. I drank 3 pints of beer a day. I smoked 1-1/2 packs of cigarettes a day.

Then I read Bill Phillips' book and entered Body of Work Challenge. I now weigh 240 lbs. and have lost 8% of my body fat in four weeks. I neither drink nor smoke and have no craving for either. Last Friday at work, much to my pleasure and embarassment, my 44" pants fell down because I had pulled in my belt as far as it would go and it still wasn't small enough.

At the start of the contest I could only squat 80 pounds. Yesterday, on my 37th birthday, I celebrated by squatting 340 pounds and then going out and playing volleyball.

I still have six sweeks to go in the contest.

Get my drift? Get the book.

Summary: BILL IS FULL OF BULL
Review: Bill is so full of himself and his company and this book just confirms it. I don't know if you all have seen his video, but let me tell you, this guy is all about making the almightly $$$ and inflating his ego even more. His "contests" are nothing more than promotions for folks to buy his over-priced EAS suppliments. I made the mistake of buying some of his products and now I'm stick on both his e-mail and mailling lists. To his credit, this man knows how to market and I was one of the fools who fell for it.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone...you can get the same information FREE from Bill from his various promo items. I agree with the comment several others have made... his staff must be giving the 5 stars because any person who actually read the book wouldn't.

Good luck Bill...all I can say is someday you'll get yours. Enjoy your corporate jet.
