Summary: The problem is not the book it's the Supplements
Review: The book may be fine but the problem is that Most of EAS's products including Myoplex has Aspartame (Nutrasweet) which turns into formaldihyde once inside the body! It is also a neurotoxin which kills brain cells! By the way Nutrasweet is the most toxic substance ever approved by the FDA and should be avoided! This is why I won't use EAS Products or any program that I must consume Aspartame several times day! That is why I can't recommend this book.

Summary: I would have given it more stars, but it only went up to 5.
Review: THIS BOOK IS GREAT. Bill Phillips has got to be the best motivator. He cares about the human race in general. One person said that this is a long excerpt form his magazine, well it is. Some people need to get all the information in one place, not thumb through a whole stack of magazines. For those of you who are skeptical, try the program, it is just 12 weeks out of your life. Besides, you don't have anything to loose. If you are not completely satisfied you can return the book for a full refund. Try it and you will see that the information contained in the pages are accurate and on the cutting edge of bodybuilding technology.

Summary: Five stars for Bill, not his book
Review: After reading his book I give Bill five stars. Here is a man who had started with nothing and gained everything. "Success comes with a price", just like he said. And he pays that price every day. For the people who are to lazy to get in shape, try, try again. Bill's video inspired me more to do better in school, as well as my diet, and fitness. He also showed every one, who watched the video, that anything is possiable if you put your mind to it. Anyone can be successful in what ever they put their desire. For all the people who raged on Bill, I ask you this! Do you have as much desire and motivation as Bill and all the other people that have succeeded in their goals? Or are you just mad because Bill doesnt have the time to hold your hand while you go to the gym.

Summary: Great step by step techniques
Review: After reading a preview in Muscle Media Magazine, I started Bill's twelve week exercise plan approximately six weeks before the book came out. Although I have been working out for years, I have never been able to break out of an average body. I looked around at the gym and coveted those washboard abs on the other guys. On about my sixth week, people in the gym noticed my the changes in my body and asked me about my workout. Two weeks ago I got the book and started the meal plans. The results are astounding. I can't imagine where I would be had I started the meals from day one. I already have my best body better and I have a month to go! By the end of the twelve weeks period I will have those washboard abs. From there I plan to set a new set of goals. This book gives simple step by step techniques that will allow you to make drastic changes in your body. If you are committed to making your body look better, this book is for you.

Summary: Terrific!
Review: I greatly enjoy books that nourish body AND soul, that teach us how to improve our human condition both physically and spiritually. That's why I ordered this book a week ago, along with that phenomenal new novel, THE TRIUMPH AND THE GLORY. I read BODY FOR LIFE first and it raised my spirits and determination tenfold, and the Rustad's inspiring novel kept them there. I urge you to do yourself a huge favor and get BODY FOR LIFE.

Summary: A running start!
Review: Bill's book, BODY FOR LIFE, provides a fine running start for someone who lives like a couch potato or who has never dared to go into a gym. The book makes the first steps easy. But you need to be careful and go further. A diet must to more than reduce flab and build muscle mass. A vibrant Life involves health, mental and emotional balance, a strong positive sex life. For this you need a diet and exercise routine that does a lot more than build large muscles. You need to build the foundation of strength and wellness. That is energy itself. Herbs, real foods are full of life=giving vitality that can protect you from illness. Take advantage of them while you weight train. The ginsengs, nettle, schizandra, ashwagandha, shilajit and other "secrets" from the Orient will help. The Chinese athletes don't do so bad at competitions. Bill's book is a great start, but you have to know where you are going. Best wishes, Letha Hadady

Summary: Real life solutions for real life problems
Review: Body for Life is a powerful book, for those that are expecting a book for body builders will be however be sorely disappointed. Body for Life is more of a self help book disguised as a sports nutrition/excercise book.

Mr. Phillips runs through common threads of participants in the 12 week Body for Life program. Quite simply put the basis of the program is founded on our internal desires to be better. Readers are asked to dig down deep and find the things that motivate us and move us. Mr. Phillips asks us to use this motivation to help set goals and and actions.

The premise of BODY for LIFE is to incorporate changes for life, to achieve goals that lead to healthier bodies and minds. The book concentrates on the Zen of change, and how taking control of our bodies allows miraculous changes in other facets of our lives.

If you think about it, Body of Life really calls out to readers to take control but incorporating self-discipline into our daily lives to improve our bodies, and then ultimately other facets of our lives.

The book contains basic excercises and dietary information that will aid readers in choosing the foods that will allow them to realize their needs. The book is a no nonsense approach to changing life in general.

I would highly recommend this book, it's high on inspiration and is really written for every day people, people from all walks of life. This book is equally about mind, psyche and soul building as it is body building. If you want added inspiration I would also highly recommend purchaing the BODY for LIFE cassette tape also, which is a lite version of the book. If you want inspiration and a means to get the best body thats possible for you look no further than BODY for LIFE.

Summary: Common sense solutions to real life problems
Review: I can't begin to say how inspiring this tape is. The tape is chocked full of common sense approaches to making real life changes to real life problems. This tape addresses the health from within approach to changing your bodies.

Mr. Phillips covers, goal setting, motivational issues that set the tone for your own personal transformations. Participents share their personal tesitmonies which for the most part are very inspiring.

There are a few things about the tape however that are lacking, and I feel this tape while powerful is really a great addendum to the Book of the same title. There you receive a much more detailed account of dietary and excercise than is possible on this audio tape. Taken within that context this is defintely a great tape. It however would have been nice to have had a mini chart with food on it to help along with this tape.

All in all I would still have to say that on an inspirational level this tape ranks very high. There are things on here that should reach out and touch most people. Mr. Phillips along with the participants which are on tape, prove that taking control of ones own bodies often translates into taking charge of eternal events in our everyday lives.

This is an interesting premise, and I have to say as a body builder, this is a very true statement. You need not be a hardcore fitness nut, or a body builder or a jock to benefit from this program, the emphasis, surprisingly here is on a transformation that comes from within, its a refreshing approach to health and self improvement. I would highly recommend this tape as a companion to the BODY for LIFE book, while this tape still has enough to motivate you and get you through the 12 week program, you'll find this much much easier to accomplish with both.

Summary: Not much health related information
Review: I have been following Bill Phillips work for years. Bill is a great at selling his products, producing materials to push his products such as MuscleMedia, Ultimate Supplement Review and this book. I think Bill deserves some credit for being successful but I stop short of praise when it comes to this book. I find his tips on aerobics dubious because in his previous writings he suggested 40 minutes and now it's 20. Although I can understand the positive reviewers desire to work less and get more, the reality is not as easy. Some reviewers have written about Bill's ability to motivate you by playing to your desire to look better. Although, this is all well and good, the reality is that years from now your health may suffer from a program such as this. Take the 20 minutes of aerobics, which Bill claims is optimum to a better body, but what about your heart and circulation? I know this book is called Body for Life, but I try to build a better body not only to look at but to live a long healthy life. I also have trouble with Bill Phillips pushing chemical laced supplements and meal replacements. The body building industry has a past colored with steroids and growth hormones, these are not people concerned with total health. Please look at first year issues of MuscleMedia 2000 to understand their position on your health, it's a little scary. The heart of the problem is that this program is too concerned with your appearance and less about your total health. The interesting thing is that health and appearance are not mutually exclusive. You can look good and do something good for your body. I don't think the answer to better total health lies in chemicals and minimal time exercises. This book is interesting reading and if you are looking for a program that will only make you look more muscular, then you may have found an answer. If you are looking to be much healthier, I wouldn't suggest this book for anyone. Hence the one star, I am worried this book is unhealthy.

One last note, if you are fat and completely out of shape then you might have some use for this book. If you haven't been to the gym in years, you could benifit.

Summary: We must not have read the same book
Review: I don't know what all these other negative folks read, but it wasn't the same book I read. After having read their comments (before I got my book) I was disappointed. Then my book came. What I found was a book that fed me in every way -- physically, mentally, and emotionally. Sure, some of it was hard -- I love Pizza -- but anything worth working for will have some tough spots. But when I studied and applied what I read, I made changes. I'm going to be 50 years YOUNG this December. At my current pace, with the help of Body for Life, I will be in better shape than when I was 25. The book was not FULL of advertisements for EAS products. But so what if it was. Ever go to Chrysler and buy a Ford? I have found the quality of EAS products would be worth more coverage. They taste GREAT!! And they help make the program complete. So I suggest you get the book and read it again... and again as both my wife and I have.
