Rating: Summary: Bill is on the level. Review: First of all, I am not an employee of EAS!! Secondly, for everyone that is a little bitter about this book, seems to me that you fell short of your goal and decided to blame Bill Phillips. Yeah, it does get frustrating and it's easy to blame someone who is healthy, wealthy, and wise. This is not a magic bullet ladies and gentlemen! Why do you think there is a lot of hype with regards to attitude and motivation? Because that has to do with YOU! You have to contribute as well. Dedication, motivation, and commitment are key elements. As for myself, I am far from where I want to be. I have failed with this program a few times but that was due to my lack of willpower. I put the Big Mac in my mouth, not Bill. I have witnessed others who were successful though, and they went from soft and pudgy to slim, cut and muscular, just like the transformation pictures. No steroids either!!!! If you are following this program to the LETTER and no significant results....see a physician and have your thyroid checked. Read the book.
Rating: Summary: The Program Works Review: The bottom line is the program works and when you follow it for just 2 or 3 weeks you will see for yourself. The fat drops off of your body and you will get stronger. It is not an easy workout by any means as long as you follow the rules, BUT it works.
Rating: Summary: Those who doubt have absolutely no clue! Review: Those of you out there who don't think this works, you have no clue as to what is going on. I read some of the reviews against the book, and came to the conclusion that the ones that thought it was garbage were one of two things; too lazy to do the work, or two, jealous that some people have more courage and a better body than them. People talk about an unfair advantage because they can buy supplements. STOP SMOKING, STOP DRINKING, STOP SPENDING MONEY ON OTHER STUFF YOU REALLY DON'T NEED! Those that say they did the workout religiously and seen no benefit, well, lets think about it. If they did what they were supposed to do, they would have. There are very few people in this world that physically cannot gain from this program. And as a biology major, i know it is a very rare disorder, but it can happen. But I highly doubt all these people that claim it didn't work had that sort of disorder, they were too lazy, plain and simple. I know many who are on the program, and of those, i do not know anyone that hasn't gained from it. It is hard, I kid you not. I failed at the program the first time i tried it. But I won't fail again, and so far, I love the results after only 3 weeks.
Rating: Summary: It has been enormously helpful to me. Review: I have been on the 12 week program outlined in this book for about 9 weeks. There is no doubt that I look and feel much better than I did 9 weeks ago. I was ready for a change, having fallen into a pattern of chronic inactivity and weight gain. Adding motivation were several recent episodes of intense back pain. The workouts are enjoyable, the results are undeniable, and I am left with a profound sense of doing something wonderful for myself. This being said, I do think the book is something of an infomercial for EAS products. I have invested several hundred dollars in these products, far more than the price of the book. If 10% of Bill's readers spend what I have spent, he would probably come out ahead just giving the book away -- except people generally don't value anything they don't pay for. This is not a complaint -- I'm satisfied with the products. Simply an observation. I would not have purchased them if I had not read the book. Second -- about the results. I do look and feel much better. But not as much as the before-and-after pictures in the book might lead one to expect. I've lost about 10 pounds -- a pound a week. Certainly not bad, especially considering that I'm gaining muscle while losing fat. I am sure the fat loss is more. But not the 25 pounds or more some of the "contestants" claim. I've lost a couple of waste inches and my whole shape is much better. But I don't look at all like Charles Atlas or Bill Phillips. Again, this is not a complaint, at least not a strong one. I am certainly stronger, and that is great. The whole thing is great, really. Bill provides a very clear and very complete methodology. You don't have to do a lot of experimenting. And I really think he is on to something with his "high point" creation theory, whether or not his way of expressing it is perfect. I recommend this book without reservation to anyone who knows he or she needs to make some changes in this area, and is looking for guidance. You're not going to be led down some half-baked path that could waste your time or even be harmful. I think you're in good hands with Bill.
Rating: Summary: It's really for real! Review: drcook's suggestion that the 'Body of Work' contest winners were on steriods is unfounded. In fact, no one tested positive on their drug test. If you watch the video carefully, the problem you're referring to was that initial polygraph tests "...show(ed) some deception" for a few individuals. I'm sorry that you don't believe that the transformations these people had were real. It really says more about you than Bill Phillips or his program. It's true that anyone can do it. I went through 7 weeks of his program a few months ago and I had people tell me I looked great. I wish I would have completed the 12 weeks - I'd probably look awesome. I'm not going to quit though. I'm going to begin again and complete the 12 week transformation!
Rating: Summary: Positive And Motivating Prescription For ANYONE To Succeed! Review: This book was extremely informative and motivating for ANYONE who wants to simply challenge themself to be their absolute BEST! As others have already stated, this book is NOT just about exercise/fitness goals, it is about LIFE. But, for individuals who ARE seeking to better the health of their physical bodies, this book outlines how to do so, in GREAT detail. Bill basically does exactly what you would pay a personal trainer to do - he provides the nutritional guidelines, as well as, the cardiovascular and weight training techniques, one must implement, in order to strive for THEIR personal BEST!!! He delivers the "recipe" to WIN, step-by-step, so that virtually ANYONE (new or not to exercise) can follow it. The book supplies not only the KNOWLEDGE and APPLICATION thereof, but explanations, to many questions that we are often left plagued with, when it comes to nutrition and exercise. In addition, his "winning attitude" strongly shows thru. Definitely worth the time and money for a life-changing book!!! The changes will not only take place physically, but I am certain that you will be impacted in every other area of your life, as well. Highly recommended for anyone - challenge your body, as well as, your MIND!
Rating: Summary: A true guide to physical fitness Review: This book offers a realistic solution to bodily fitness. Bill Phillips makes it simple to apply these techniques and I'm certain that whoever stays with it, will be in shape. Aside from the fitness of the body, I also needed help for my soul and spirit. And that's why I highly recommend a book that has helped my mental and spiritual fitness tremendously as it is inspiring and it really works, and it's a great book for building self-esteem and spiritual health, which is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding & Overcoming Depression"--also available at Amazon.
Rating: Summary: This Book Helped Me Review: Body for Life inpsired me to work out and get in better shape. I am pretty experienced when it comes to fitness, nonetheless I benefited from this book. One thing I found great about the book was how easily I could apply the infromation to other aspects of my life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a simple system to get in shape.
Rating: Summary: A tremendous motivator... Review: What impresses me most about this book and the plan it promotes is the man behind both. His commitment to helping people like me get their health and life back on track is evident. A variety of resources, including booklets, audio cassettes, videos, and 24 hour/day telephone support staff, are all offered free of charge. Let the skeptics say what they will about marketing ploys and sacharine sentiments. If the book were merely a plug for EAS supplements, I suspect the author would have devoted more than a scant couple of pages to the subject. Neither do I think that he'd have made the point that anyone willing to invest the time in preparing six whole-food meals per day could expect the same results as those who opt for the convenience of using supplements. And as far as Phillips' using the book as yet another way to line his pockets, let's not forget that 100% of the proceeds that would have gone to him from the sale of the book, are instead being donated to the Make A Wish Foundation. I am not some Bill Phillips devotee who is incapable of objectivity. I just recognize that at the end of the day, the guy's making good on the promises he makes. He's devised a system that's netting terrific results for lot's of people, and sharing the wealth he enjoys as a result of that success. Those are good enough reasons for me. I'm starting Monday, too.
Rating: Summary: This book is TREMENDOUS!!! Review: I've been reading Bill Phillip's magazine for a little while now, and I've come to love him not only for the cutting-edge info that he continues to provide, but because of his attitude and personality with which he approaches anyone interested in fitness. This book is amazing, because 1)It outlines a VERY effective weight-training and cardio program, given that you TRULY follow the recommended intensity pattern. 2)It explains and provides real information for changing one's eating habits to the healthy, 6-a-day program he outlines. 3)He is so ridiculously motivational, positive, and hopeful ... characteristics which become engrained in you whenever you read his book / magazines. I truly don't understand how there are these messed-up, venemous reviews on here for "Body-for -Life". These people have OBVIOUSLY not really read the book, have failed themselves MISERABLY in trying to follow the program (and thus are looking to place their feeling of failure onto someone else), or have been shot at a minimum of 5 times in their lives and therefore are annoyingly bitter and cynical towards the world. The fact is, Bill sends out free books, tapes, videos ... and in turn gives TONS of proceeds to the Make-A-Wish foundation! He is a great, uplifting guy, and anyone who reads his book, sees the videos, and HONESTLY dedicates themselves to the program (for only 3 months of their LIVES -- what's to lose?) will wind up really appreciating all he does. Thanks for being an awesome guy, Bill Phillips. "Body-for-Life" IS tremendous!!!
