Rating: Summary: 100% Inspirational Review: Just after reading this book, my life has changed. Bill Phillips truly is an inspirational man, he not only gets in your head and makes you think, he also gets in your heart and makes you feel. This book makes you want to strive to be the best that you can be, yeah, yeah I know that sounds so cliche but it's so true!! I have so much drive that I didn't have, just because of reading a book. I can't wait until I start this program, I can't wait until I start my new life!!! After the first three months are done I'll get back to you.
Rating: Summary: Concept and program cannot be topped. Review: Although, Bill Phillips is not the greatest writer in the world (anyone whom has read his Muscle Media magazine or his Sports Supplement Review publications can plead with that), he knows his subject well and dedicates his life to it. His EAS products have the best reputation of athletic supplements and are currently the best selling because of that. I don't beleive that any of his contestants have used steriods simply because I have been following his program for the past eight weeks and have lost over 15 pounds of fat in the process. Yes, there is a lot of sacrifice and yes, there is a lot of discapline. However, if I can remember, getting an "A+" grade in college, winning a triathalon, and even having a sucessfull and happy marriage also take both of those elements. Start with his plan; stick to his plan; don't ever quit; and you will see amazing results! I guarantee!
Rating: Summary: A realistic approach and it works! Review: Bodily fitness is important and in this book, Bill Phillips offers a real easy strategy to fitness for the whole body. Of course, you've got to stick with it, so you'll continue to be in shape. Aside from my physical fitness, I also needed help for my emotions, mind and spirit. And for this aspect of spiritual and mental fitness I highly recommend a guide that has helped me tremendously, and made me whole again, which is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding & Overcoming Depression" also available at Amazon.
Rating: Summary: Excelent book to get out the yoyo diet Review: This book have teach me lot of things that I did not know. Specialy how to loose pounds and keep them off.. And most important how to do areabics exercise the correct way, so I can burn dose calories...
Rating: Summary: Look into my eyes, you are getting very.... Review: hypnotized. This book does nothing more nor different than a sermon, a sales pitch, or a smooth-talking pick-up artist does -- and that is regurgitate information we already know and help us to make up our own minds. This book's content is much more than a regime for the "perfect" body, it is an oasis in a desert of desperation and lies in the same realm as does such successful motivational pyramid-building schemes. If the saying that "the body follows the mind" is anything true, than do yourself a favor and find alternative ways to lead the life you want to live.
Rating: Summary: Try it Review: I think for the most part, the routine suggested by Phillips is alright for the short term and will cause no damage. I think after 12 weeks you could switch to regular whole food. You don't have to use his meal replacements either, you could use MetRx or some other brand on sale because most contain just about the same ratio of carbs, protein etc. His diet recommendations for the long term don't include enough fresh fruit or vegetables and I'm not sure if a women would get enough calcium. You could add some fruit or skim milk when mixing the meal replacements for variety. Not eating for one hour after a workout goes against current thinking that says you should consume something soon after to aid in recovery, although these a fairly brief workouts that Phillips recommends. I also don't think he includes enough time to warm-up before exercising, especially if you are doing it first thing in the morning, so I would start each workout with 10 mins on a stationary bike and do a light warm-up set. You can't fault Phillips if some of the people in the contest took steroids. The routine is definitely not geared toward a steroid user. The workouts are fairly brief but intense so you can recover between workouts. I would not add any more cardio work until you are well into the program, then you at least know you can handle the basics. You will stop building muscle and burning fat once you are overtrained. A twenty minute high intensity cardio workout can be pretty hard and will result in a decreased resting heart rate if it is done right. A one minute rest between sets on your weight training days can be pretty tough too if you are working with heavy weights and will improve muscular endurance. I've seen plenty of people at the gym taking so much time between sets they read a magazine while working out. Their cadio amounts to spinning on a stationary bike at such a low intensity, they don't break a sweat. Don't forget the Nautilus craze a few years back prescribed 20 minute sessions done three times each week to satisfy both your strength and endurance needs whether you were a beginner or advanced. Everyone bought into that, even NFL teams. It was a pretty tough workout, but it had to be done exactly as prescribed to get decent results.
Rating: Summary: What a motivating and inspirational book! Review: This book is great for anybody who just doensn't know how to start eating and working out for a better physique. Everything that you need to do is spelled out for you in this easy to read inspirational book. I would definetly recomend it.
Rating: Summary: Sound Advice Great Book! Review: I have been working out for years and consider myself in top condition so I wasn't exactly looking for an exercise routine, inspiration, guru or whatever.I too thought that the people in the book were roiders and thought NO WAY! Upon reading the book I thought "hey...this makes sense!" and decided to give the initial 12 weeks a try- I was so reluctant and very very skeptical. In fact I wanted this book and his advice to fail.I drafted my best buddy a former college athlete and bodybuilder to try BODY FOR LIFE too. We are in our 6th week and people are asking us what steroids we are using! NONE! Drug Free and we have built quality muscle while increasing our aerobic capacity. This is the real deal and can teach any regular man or woman, die hard fitness fan, athlete or trainer like me a thing or two. The plan stresses common sense, work out smart not hard, its fun nor arduous! Tons of variety.Plenty of rest and real world advice. Finally a book for the everyday Joe from fat to fit who wants to be healthier and guess what? A whole lot buffer! Must buy and ENJOY! Its actually fun!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I think this book has a tremendously powerful personal messageto everyone. With our busy lifestyles, its hard to eat right withoutplanning. Most of my unplanned meals include a drive thru, or a stop at a restaurant. And the portions just keep getting larger and larger. Extra Super Size this, or a plate of teriyaki bigger than your head. Its no wonder so many of us are overweight.I've decided to take the EAS Challenge personally. I realize that its up to me to change my body, and no more stopping at McDonalds after working out. I need to change both the way I eat, and how I work out. Never again will I wonder which excercise machine to use next, my schedule is planned out. I know exactly what excercises I'll be doing, and know what I'm going to eat that day. Planning is half the battle. I'm very excited about my new lifestyle. I just wish EAS would make Myoplex without Aspartame. And no, I'm not using Myoplex. There are a few comperable meal replacements at the nutrition store which are aspartame free. Great book Bill!!!!
