Summary: Body-for-Life! Motivational, Inspirational, SENSATIONAL!
Review: After completing Bill Phillips' book, Body-for-Life, and my first week on the Body-for-Life program, I feel a new sense of purpose and direction. Based on a recommendation from a close friend, I started the program not really knowing what it was all about. I must admit that most of the information in Bill's book is not new or revolutionary, but the manner in which he combines ALL of the elements of his program make this a no-brainer success for anyone who puts there mind to it. The nutrition element is solid. The fitness element is solid. The book reads smoothly and Bill's motivational skills are impeccable. My eyes even welled up with tears on a few occasions. This is a MUST-READ! This book has already changed my life. THANK YOU BILL!

Summary: Some comments and some facts
Review: A very good book. Bill's book is the first I read which goes in depth about how to deal with intensity during training. I've yet to find another book which explains it in that simple manner. The proper usage of intensity is really the key to the trainig success (I am currently using the method myself and believe me, it really works). I'd also like to comment on some of the discussion points: 1) Warm up: The first two sets are only intensity 5 and 6, so this IS your warm up for the muscle. 2) Supplements: Most bodybuilders will tell you that your success is 50% training and 50% nutrition. Without supplements it is difficult to eat and digest the various quantities (protein, vitamins, etc.) that make your muscles grow (although it needn't be Myoplex). Many people just don't have the digestive power. 3) Aerobic Training: A look into the scientific sports literature tells you that you get a noticeable cardiovascular training effect after 10 minutes, so 20 minutes is NOT too little! 4) Pictures: I could imagine that some people try to win the contest by going on steroids, making the 'before' photograph look especially bad, taking the 'after' photograph after a longer time than 12 weeks etc.. I have trust in the jury that they find out who cheated and who did not. And even if not, the method still works, and this is the most important thing for the reader.

Summary: Just Bought the Book
Review: I read all of the reviews here and there are strong camps for and against, no one seems to be in the middle on this one. I've read about the first third so far and it seems pretty good to me.

I am currently 36 years old, male, 5' 9" and 215lbs. I am going to start the program and see how I do.

I, like many, have never gotten great direction in a gym, and this book seems to have a very specific plan.

What the heck, eating right and exercising can't hurt, it can only help. So I'll check back in atr the end of the year and let you know if I'm RIPPED!

Summary: 180degree lifestyle change in the right direction
Review: My husband and I have read the book, over and over. We started the program 2 weeks ago and feel better than ever. I do my workouts at home with dumbells and run in the neighborhood, no gym needed. The diet leaves us feeling better every day and aside from the fat literally falling off, our mental lifestyle is changing for the best. Good Luck and take the challenge.

Summary: Best Training and Nutrition Book For Everyone
Review: This book spells out why and how someone can transform thier physical and mental health. Easy to read and more importanly and easy to follow program that will get results. I know because it worked for me and my wife!!

Summary: body for life, not just twelve weeks...it works!
Review: In April of '99, I gave up. I was fat--really fat--and tired of the up and down diet and exercise regime. I tried Bill Phillips' 'physique transformation' contest and officially lost (at least, they never came knocking on my door with a $100,000 check or keys to a corvette), but I really won. I lost 35 pounds of fat, gained 10 pounds of muscle, completely changed my physique, revolutionized my outlook on life, and saw my sex life (with my wife, of course!) improve dramatically! I highly endorse Bill Phillips' regimen of being 'fit for life.' It's not just a twelve week program, it's a lifetime mentality. Great book, solid guy--buy it, read it and apply it.

Summary: AMAZING, IT WORKS.
Review: I THOUGHT THE BOOK WAS THE BEST INVESTMENT I'VE MADE IN A VERY LONG TIME. I'VE FOLLOWED BODY FOR LIFE BY THE BOOK, AND MY BODY HAS GONE FROM GOOD TO STRONG, FIRM AND AMAZING.

Summary: Wwwwow! This book is making me 20 years younger!
Review: In my 20's, I was in great shape, but didn't know what caused it or how to maintain it. Now I am 41 and 6 weeks into the program and feel in control of my body again. Muscles are popping out all over. This book simplifies the proper diet, cardio workouts, and intensity training to achieve great results fast. It is a lifestyle that I can keep. The motivational success stories alone caused me to buy several copies for friends. You don't have to join a gym or buy a lot of expensive stuff, just give it a try.

Summary: The book was OK.
Review: I purchased this book on a recommendation from a friend. I thought it was "OK" and have to admit that it was motivational. For that reason I give it three stars. I also agree with many that it is a marketing ploy... The web URL is plastered across the bottom of EVERY page for crying out loud! Who goes into business with the intention of NOT making money.. I'll admit I'm jealous because he is making money and I'm not.

Summary: There's one way to find out...
Review: Ok. I don't know if this book will work or not. I'm on my first day of the Body for Life program, and, frankly, I am a little skeptical. I've been working out regularly (= 4-6 days/week, consistantly) for about 9 years, and consider myself in very good shape already. still, I've been looking for a new approach, trying to get past that last plateau, and I thought I'd give Bill's plan a try. To everyone doubting the routine, I'm with you. But I figured I could read other's reviews til I'm blue in the face; the best test would be to try it. So we'll see. I'm following the plan extremely closely, monitoring my weight and body fat percentages, and keeping accurate records. If it works, great. If the results are little to none, then I'm only out the $ I paid for the book and 12 weeks of my life. I guess we'll see.
