Summary: Great book but....
Review: I liked the book very much however a reader should be aware that the diet supplement products sold by the author are expensive. Also he says that "they are there for you." When I e-mailed his web-site about equipment information I received a curt reply of "read the book it's in the book." I was very let down. All I was trying to ask for was better information about what to buy for my workout.

Summary: Makes it Easy To Get in Shape!
Review: My wife and I did the Body for Life Transformation contest last year. We experienced excellent results in 12 weeks! Myself, I lost 18 lbs of fat and gained 9 lbs of muscle! We worked out 3 times a week and did cardio 3 times a week, we planned out six meals per day, and we saw results happen! This book makes it easy and simple to get into shape!

A lot of people blast Bill Phillips for just doing this for money by promoting EAS supplements. Well of course he wants to sell supplements, isn't that what a business does? Why do so many people knock him for what hundreds of other companies do every day? Besides, I believe that EAS supplements are some of the best on the market. Bill Phillips does care about people out there, and helps them become inspired to get in shape. The proceeds from this book go to the Make-A-Wish foundation, the charity he sponsors. How many other supplement companies do this? I recommend this book and the program it features!

Summary: Get in shape!
Review: Bill Phillip's book is a great help to get physically in shape. It's perhaps the best fitness book that I've ever read. Getting in shape doesn't happen by watching videos or reading books alone, the excellent tips in this book must be implemented and applied to see results. But Bill makes it real easy in his book to follow the instructions: workout and nutrition. This book is also motivating and inspiring. Regarding the mental fitness aspect, I highly recommend a book with a spiritual touch, as it has helped me a lot, which is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding and Overcoming Depression" also available at Amazon.

Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: When my boyfriend started the Body For Life program I decided right away that I was not going to do the program too. I thought: I hate lifting weights and I'll never succeed following some strict nutrition and exercise program. But one night I picked up the book and found it to be an incredibly easy, make-sense read. So easy, in fact, that I finished the book that evening and started "The Challenge" the next week.

This is the first program that I can follow and the exercises are fun and keep me interested. I've already gained muscle tone and lost fat. I've been doing aerobics since high school (I'm 28 now), but have seen more improvement with this program than any aerobics class.

Speaking from a woman's point of view, this is a great way to firm up and build confidence with weights. The information is easy to understand and the testimonials are totally inspiring!

One added bonus -- my boyfriend and I are enjoying working out at the gym and have changed our eating habits together. It's been great.

Summary: Body for Life
Review: Excellent, motivating, and inspiring! I got it today and read it already. This is a very powerful book. It teaches you more than how to have a great body. It strengthens you from the inside out. Bill Phillips is amazing.....

Summary: This is no fad diet!
Review: I have been on every diet you can think of....and this is no fad diet. The things that impressed me the most were the acknowledgement of having the right mind set....and if you want to change something, you need to, well... change something. I have accepted the challenge and am on week 5 now. It really works and is very easy. It is a way of life, not a diet.

You have nothing to lose, and if your not happy, remember that proceeds from the Body of Work tape go to Make A Wish Foundation....a very worthy cause.

I highly recommend this book, and stand by its methodology.

The audio tapes are great, very inspiring and pleasant to listen to. I listen to mine in the car -- over and over again.

Summary: A book worth its weight in Gold
Review: I have read the book, and I am currently on day 12. This is a must read for anypne looking to make a drastic change in their life. I have put on one pound of muscle, and can finally see shadows of my stomach muscles. Thank you Bill Phillips!

Summary: So simple, yet very effective
Review: This book is wonderful. Bill Phillips masterfully combines tried and true work out routines with an amazingly simple nutrition program. While the nutrition program seems complicated, once you start using it you realize that with some simple planning and very little effort, it works extremely well. The smaller meals keep you from getting hungry and your body is able to stay fueled all day long. The workouts are very intense, especially the 20 minute cardio program. Bill also includes sample charts to use when you prepare for the day's activities. He has put everything into this book so all you have to do is follow the program. It is extremely easy to modify the plan to fit your self. If you have never worked out before, the book contains pictures and descriptions of all the basic exercises that you should do. Nothing complicated, just plain and simple. The motivation that Bill provides in the form of testimonials from past winners is great. There is no reason that any person, regardless of how bad they think they have it, will not benefit from reading this book and doing exactly what it says.

Summary: A Basic Program That Works
Review: I have been a reader of Muscle Media Magazine for over a year now. I have also read other publications from Bill Phillips as well and have lost a lot of body fat and gained muscle using the techniques from his publications. I have taken part in a past challange and am currently in the 2000 Challange. I have learned a lot about fitness from Bill Phillips.

This book lays down the foundation for a simple fitness plan which works if the reader is willing to think right, eat right, and exercise. The Nutrition-For-Life method of food consumption is the simplest food plan I have ever used. I have always struggled with over-eating and dieting. This plan teaches how to eat six balanced and healthy meals a day. No deprevation. However, the book leaves me a bit confused about the "Free Day". I wish the "Free Day" was discussed a bit more. In any case, this book has taught me how to eat properly for the first time in my life. No special diet foods... just six balanced protein and carbohydrate proportioned meals. It is very easy.

The only problem I have with the book is that the weight training method is difficult to comply with when using a commercial gym. The method requires that one excercise be imediatly followed by a second excercise for the same body part on the last set, with no rest time. When working out at a busy gym like I do, it is almost impossible to get from one excercise station to another, find the equipment you need being available, and do the last set without having to wait for the person currently using it to finish.

Another concern I have is that some of the theories and techniques in this book challange the theories and techniques previously promoted in Muscle Media magazine and the Roger Applewhite Personal Trainer Handbook, which are also published by Bill Phillips. This fact has left me wondering which techniques Bill Phillips has published are actually the best. Do the techniques in this book void the techniques Bill has previously prommoted?

Regardless, I think this is a good book and Bill Phillips is the modern Jack LaLane. I use EAS supplements, as well as other brands. Myoplex is not required for the program, but it makes eating six meals a day easier for the beginner. I rarely use a meal replacement powder, but when I do, I have been very satisfied with Myoplex. I often eat a 40-30-30 Bar (ie. Balance) with a scoop of whey protein powder mixed with water as a quick and easy meal in place of a Myoplex. Some of the reviews here on Amazon say that the book says you have to drink Myoplex. This is not true. The book only recomends Myoplex as a tool to make eating six meals a day easier.

This book, along with the other tools Bill Phillips makes available such as Muscle Media Magazine and the Body Of Work video make getting in shape a very real possibility for everybody. Although not everyone will look like a Muscle Media cover model, if we are willing to put in the effort and stay committed, we can acheive the best bodies we are capable of acheiving.
