Rating: Summary: Cover photos SELL this book Review: This is really the kind of shape-up-fast book that jumps off the shelf and into your hands at critical times of self-loathing: after the holidays when clothing is uncomfortably gripping at all the wrong places, or, worse, three months before swimsuit weather when you've blown your New Year's resolutions and have actually packed on another five pounds. Besides that, you are hideously pasty which automatically adds another 10 pounds in the mirror, and, damn it, you just want to look good...just like all those before and afters on the cover. Admit it, the loose promo strip across the cover is why anyone picks up the book in the first place. If all those huge to merely flabby folks can do it in a short twelve weeks, then you can shake your lazy self-defeating habits and do it, too. So, you buy the book with the intent to 'really do it' this time. You get home and bypass the chips and salsa for a liter of bottled water, believing that by virtue of simply opening this book you'll lose your first three pounds. Welcome the hype! For the next 70-something pages, the author carries on with self-congratulatory blather and embarrassing testimonials from couch potatoes. For people who can relate, this might be useful and inspiring. For everyone else, cut to the chase and go straight to the 'overview' at the end of each chapter. Better yet, before you buy the book, open the book at the halfway point to discover a few 'novel' ideas being promoted here. To look good and feel healthy, you have to: exercise (a lot), eat well and eat right, and hydrate frequently. You already know this. To look like the people in the testimonials, you need to: do the above, plus take Myoplex for the 'ripped' effect, increase protein consumption, and pump serious iron. (Oh, and you might also want to invest in a personal trainer to serve as your conscience. The rest you have to do yourself - for the rest of your life.) However, to sum this up, if the pictures and testimonials are a kick in the pants, then more power to Body for Life for getting you off the couch! But, it's going to take longer than 12 weeks.
Rating: Summary: Buy it now Review: It will be one of your best buys ever if you really have the will to improve. I started the program at a very low point both physically and emotionally, and even though I had the will to improve the book deserves high credits for my achievements. Everything is doing great now, and even better I look and feel better than ever.

Bill Phillips book has help me alot.I love the idea ofcheating once a week, but if you really get into this 12 week program, you don't want to. I have been doing alot of Bills workouts on my own for years, like lifting one day,and going on the treadmill the next. Bill also gives you his web-site to help you even more. This is a must buy for anyone who wants to be in the best shape there body can be in.Were all different, and not all of us are going to be like the models we see in the magazines or on tv.This book shows you how to be the best YOU can be. END
Rating: Summary: Great idea's so so execution.... Review: After trying Bill Phillip's program I have the following observations: Begin slower and forget about the twelve weeks. The time limit combined with high expectations could lead to disappointment and injury. While his points and philosophy are well taken his timeline is unrealistic except for the fanatical.Second the program for me was not sustainable due to the restrictions of the diet and cost (in Canada) of the supplements. So be prepared, after a time, to modify your diet to a more sustainable and manageable regime. After stopping the program most of the weight I lost reappeared. I have since adjusted my program and diet and am enjoying a better body and a supplement-free meal routine.
Rating: Summary: Best Fitness Book on the Market Review: I have been studying nutrition, dietetics, and have been a personal fitness trainer for 4 years. This book tells you in "easy to understand language", what fitness experts and bodybuilders have known for years. This isn't a book about magical pills or magical formulas. This is a straightforward and easy approach to achieving and keeping an astounding healthy muscluar body for both men and women. Same type of program that health and fitness enthusiasts have been using but Phillips takes it and turns it into an EASY way to achieve it. No Calorie counting or hard to master formulas. I recommend this book to all my clients now before I train them. Best fitness Book I have ever read!
Rating: Summary: Finally Some Common Sense! Review: There are SO many "diet" books out there that want only for you to compromise your health so that the author can line his or her pocket with your cash--this is different. Body For Life make sense; it doesn't go to an extreme in either direction, and it's entirely doable... Bill Phillips has taken information the gymrats have known for years and presented it to the public in an easy to understand format. Give it 12 weeks, and you give yourself the gift of a habit of good nutrition and exercise habits. You can't beat that!
Rating: Summary: Perfect fitness for the whole body Review: Bill Phillips provides excellent advice on bringing your body into physical fitness for life. Helpful tips regarding nutrition can be found throughout the book. You gotta work out too, to have a top-notch body and Phillips keeps it simple. This is probably the best fitness book on the market and should be seriously considered by anyone interested in fitness. For mental fitness I highly recommend Dietmar Scherf's 'I Love Me: Avoiding and Overcoming Depression'.
Rating: Summary: Seven weeks down, hundreds to go Review: I have been on the program for seven weeks now and results are good; 10 pounds lost, body fat down from 22.5% to 19%. The beer barrel is on its way to becoming a six pack. That was my primary motivation. The book has changed my life and perspective on health and nutrition. I'm sixty now. I plan to continue with the daily workouts and small (but frequent) well balanced meals for the rest of my life. I don't see any point in stopping when 12 weeks are up. I don't think I'm going to win any prize from the EAS folk, but I have won already. I don't cringe when I look in the mirror anymore. When I hear people lament about their lack of success with diets, I want to tell them to drop the "diet" stuff. Change your eating habits and exercise pattern ala Bill Phillips advice and you will lose weight. But more importantly, you'll just plain feel better. By the way, Myoplex is not expensive. It can be purchased at nutrition stores (brick & morter and on-line) for approximately 60% of what EAS charges. That makes it about $1.50 per serving. I challenge you to show me where you can get 42 grams of protein, 24 grams of Carbohydrates and only 2 grams of fat for only $1.50. I think it's the cheapest way to get that amount of nutrition.
Rating: Summary: Change Your Life Now! Review: If you're tired of being tired, and are ready to make a change for the better, then get this book and apply the principles . . . . NOW! Anyone can do this. I'm an ordinary "Ed" and am 6 weeks into my 12 week program. I can see a noticeable difference in my face, arms, legs, strength, stamina, and most importantly . . . my energy level. If you'll dedicate a portion of your day to this program, you'll open a whole new world of productivity and efficiency in every area of your life. Bill Phillip's motiviation is to help YOU improve your overall quality of life. After reading the book, starting the program, and making several calls to the EAS support folks in Colorado, I can tell you from experience that this is real . . . and it works. I fully expect to have a "six-pack" in another 6 weeks. And at 40 years "young", that will be a nice gift to myself! You might even make this into a life-long hobby.
Rating: Summary: A new lifestyle-A new you! Motivation/Inspiration! Review: This is THE book to get you motivated and inspired and have a plan to enact when you're finished! Bill makes you ask the questions you wouldn't normally ask yourself. He helps you take your dreams and put them on paper into goals and finally take control of your life. I am a 27 year old mom of two, 5'1", and was 177 pounds at my highest. My life was changed after I read the book. I "decided" that I didn't die at 18 and 110 pounds, and I can look better now than I ever have. This book motivated me enought to change my life! If I can do it, YOU can too. Read this book if you need a new chance at healthy living. This program is easy and attainable! Believe in yourself! YOU CAN DO THIS!
