Rating: Summary: Don't Believe the Nay-Sayers Review: This book is excellent! It teaches discipline and great habits by giving you step by step instructions. Think seriously about whether you want to make a change in your life and body. If the answer is yes, and you're not afraid of hard work, this book is for you!By the way, one of the recent reviews warns against possible problems because this is an extremely low carb diet. WHAT? I don't think that guy was reading the same book. On this diet, you eat 6 (count 'em, 6) servings of carbs per day, plus 2 vegetables. This guy had problems because he didn't even follow the diet!
Rating: Summary: What a great marketing scheme! Review: This is not a good way to get into shape. For one thing he does not advocate healthy eating practices, but he sure does advocate buying his EAS products. He doesn't mention getting plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables only plenty of EAS products, which by the way cost more than actual food! My husband & I both tried the diet, exercise and products for 8 weeks. He lost 3 lbs and 1% bodyfat, I lost 3 lbs and 1% bodyfat also. Then we followed a plan of our own that included lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, protein and limited processed refined foods, still exercised and dropped more lbs, inches and bodyfat than we did following the Body for Life guidlines and using the products. You can get good results just by getting off the couch, exercising, and eating properly. Bill Phillips is a great marketer that is all plain and simple.
Rating: Summary: Forget the ney-sayers! This book will change your life! Review: It's funny, the people who slam this book are the one's who need it the most. It's as if they blame Bill Phillips for their out of control bodies and lives. Man, it's almost personal! It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. "It can't work," they scream. "It's too easy!" "It's too hard!" "The before and after pictures are fake!" Well, I'm here to tell you, the program DOES work, and not only will it change your body in 12 weeks (and YES it can be done in that amount of time without injury), it will change your heart and mind as well. I've been on Bill Phillips' program for over a month now, and the results have been amazing. I've seen more muscle growth in four weeks than I have in over ten years of working out. The nutrition guidelines are easy to follow and surprisingly flexible. You do not have to belong to a gym ( a HOME gym will do just fine) and you certainly DO NOT need to go out and hire a personal trainer. But the most wonderful part of the program is how it changes your attitude towards your very life. As your body grows stronger, so does your daily outlook as well as your compassion for others. This to me has been the biggest and most surprising reward of this program. Beware, it's not easy, but it is well worth it! The way I see it, you get out what you put into it. If you want change. If you want a better body and a happier, sharper mind, Body for Life is for you. Thank you, Bill Phillips.
Rating: Summary: All Fluff, Little Substance Review: Complete waste of money. The workout routines were good, but the substance of the book could have fit on less than 10 pages. The book's website has all the useful info you will need, so save your money on this one. Not recommended even a little.
Rating: Summary: Not a program for whiners Review: I started Bill's program 2 1/2 weeks ago and have already lost 12 lbs, have seen an increase in strength and, being diabetic, have seen my blood sugar levels stabilize as never before. I've cut my insulin use by MORE THAN HALF! To the naysayers in these reviews...YES, IT TAKES EFFORT! Apparently they are looking for some "magic" system that will just get them in shape by thinking about it...perhaps a nice book on "Meditative Bodybuilding" or "The Zen of Wieghtloss"...well, bad news, folks, NO PROGRAM WORKS THAT WAY. Also...YES, IT DOES TAKE SOME PLANNING. The question is, how bad do you want it? I work all over the state and am on the road at all hours of the day and night and, as I mentioned before, am a diabetic. Yet, I have found ways to do six balanced meals a day. Again, HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT? Finally, as far as Bill promoting his supplements...since he donates all proceeds from the book to The Make-A-Wish Foundation, I can't really fault him for talking about the products he sells to make a living. You do not have to use his products to get results. Bottom line to all the critics...do the program, then if it doesn't work, crticize...otherwise, continue to sit on the sidelines of life and whine about how nothing works for you. THOSE WHO CAN, DO...THOSE WHO CAN'T (OR WON'T), CRITICIZE!
Rating: Summary: take it from an average guy like me! Review: Okay, like the other reviews point out, if you don't have the self control before the book, you are not going to have the self control after you read the book either. No book has the power to change someone overnight. Also, this book could use an editor. But besides the plethora of sentence fragments and couch potato testimonials, this is an excellent book. I think most people are couch potatoes at heart (I know I am). This is a book that can give a couch potato a shove off the couch. Bottom line, the principals and plan in the book works. Of course, if you can't follow through, it won't (and you'll be back on the couch). Twelve weeks later, I feel great and have the body I have always wanted. This is the book that helped. It has a good nutrition guide, a solid workout plan, and fundamentals that work. Unlike so many other plans, additional purchases are not necessary, but can be at the users discretion. A little at home gym, a good diet, you are almost done. It works. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: With this book you can change your life! Review: This is an excellent book! It is very well written in easy to understand language. The program is so clearly outlined. Of course, it's also very challenging. But what in life that is worth achieving isn't a challenge! If it were easy there wouldn't be so many cynics writing reviews complaining about how their failure will be yours too if you buy this book. Please don't listen to the people who say you have to belong to an expensive gym or that the program is impossible! These are the same weak people (physically and mentally) that Bill warns against. They're cynics who aren't really committed to change who want to discourage others from succeeding so they can feel better about themselves. Please don't listen to these miserable people! If you are interested enough to look into buying this book, I say go for it! If it doesn't change your life, at least you helped a worthy cause (all proceeds from this book go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation)! Good luck to anyone who has the courage to accept this challenge!
Rating: Summary: Exactly what I was looking for Review: It's a diet workout book step by step. I love how it tells you what foods are good, what exercises to do and it gives you a schedule on the whole thing. With the progress reports in the back, it's easy to keep track of what you are doing. PersonallY, I love it.
Rating: Summary: What a waste! Review: After watching Montel, I decided to buy the book. The people on the show seemed to have such fabulous results. But after reading the book, there is no way that I can do this "diet." You have to belong to a gym (or own a lot of your own equipment) to do the exercises this diet requires. The exercises require specific timing and duration. In addition, you also have to eat 6 "balanced" meals a day. Who has the time or money to do that? I've decided that this is just too complicated!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Motivation, superb information Review: This is a great book that can help you make a very positive change inyour life. They really prove being in top physical shape can help youto overcome practically anything life has in store! This book is a great starts for people wishing to conquer and succeed. END
