Summary: The Way for Life!
Review: I bought this book on an impulse as I picked up several others that came highly recommended. Well, from the moment that book arrived, I was hooked. Bill laid out the entire program simply and completely, starting with your approach, going on to detail the diet and exercise program, and ending with the support you need to make it the full 12 weeks. His straight talk from the heart and hard-won insights combine with the strong results stories to create a total approach so that you can once and for all go for it and achieve the body you have always dreamed of. My results 8 weeks into the program were literally jaw-dropping in that I toned a 40-plus year old body into curves and well-defined muscles I NEVER knew I had. The greater benefit in my opinion is the tremendous energy and enthusiasm I enjoy every day. If you're still wondering about the program, take a look at the faces of those who have taken the 12-week challenge and won: they postively glow with the accomplishment and their newfound abilities to create the lives they want. This isn't about supplements or any other arguments -- it's about a program that works and is workable. Try it if you're serious about making a life transformation.

Summary: It's been said better before
Review: Read "BIOMARKERS" if you want a well-researched book on the beneficial physical effects of building muscle. Of course, this is combined with aerobics and flexibility training. That book was the result of research conducted at Tufts. No gimmicks, just inexpensive weights - a good set costs approximately $1 per pound -,good food and exercise. They reasearched the benefical life enhancing effects of oxygen uptake, bone density benefits, lower blood pressure, ability to metabolize glucose and more. After reading their book, you will be persuaded you can't afford to not exercise after age 30.

Summary: GOOD, HONEST INFORMATION TO START A WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
Review: Bill Phillips presents a good, honest system to help the average person get started in the weight loss game. His information is useful and easy to understand. Yes he promotes supplementation , not just to push products that he sells, but to inform the reader that change in nutrition is necessary to help effect a body transformation. Read the book and you will agree that the information presented is good and the plan is easy to follow, especially for the beginner.

Summary: The best program that works for me
Review: This book is one of the best books I have read about fitness. I seen and heard them all( the liquid, proteien, carbo, suplimental.)This book is the only one that deals with you, and gives you the tools to focus on what's needed to change your habits to the right ones.

Summary: All FAT PEOPLE MUST READ THIS BOOK!
Review: I bought this book in Jan 2000 and followed it word for word. My bodyfat went from 30.5% @ 305 lbs to 9.6% @ 225 lbs. I am 29 yrs old. Anyone that says this book is a waste of money is ignorant. You dont have to use the suppliments, but they do help. Yes, the suppliments that he talks about are expensive, but the money I have saved over the last 4 months on food (I should say garbage!), easily covered the cost of the suppliments. I also figured a heart attack would cost me alot of money so it was worth it. This has changed my life. I owe it all to Bill. He motivated me to change my life.

Summary: Results Oriented and Motivational
Review: I completed the 12 week program and reduced my bodyfat from 6% to 4% and gained 6 pounds lean mass. The workouts are simple and intense! The cardio reccomendations get the job done and in less time! The success stories are motivational but there are too many of them. I would rather have more information on diet and additional routines to follow after the 12 weeks.

Summary: To be totally fair...
Review: I used to be an enormous fan of Philips and Muscle Media before their change in image lately. However, MM as a whole is not what should be commented on in reviewing this book.

You can generally find as good or better information than this in the books at your local library as well as at websites. For that matter, researching "fitness", "weight training" on a powerful search engine will probably turn up as much information as you can learn here.

The motivation aspect of this book is lauded a great deal. If it's motivation you lack, then pick up a book by a good self-help author like Stephen Covey or Tony Robbins.

All in all, unless you have dreams of winning one of EAS's contests, you honestly do not need Philips or this book for anything.

Summary: It's wonderful, it really works
Review: I have followed the program in terms of food and excercise. The only things that I had not taken are the supplements or Myoplex. I wanted to follow a program that I could continue for the rest of my life. I have tried every other program in the world, so I gave Body for Life a chance.

Well, it has been 8 weeks and I have lost 12.5 lbs. and feel wonderful. The best part of the exercise program is doing 20 minutes of cardio and feeling like I used to feel when I did 45 minutes of cardio.

The program is easy to follow. The only thing that will stop you is YOU. So, if you want to be healthy and look great, follow the Body for Life program, not for just 12 weeks, but for LIFE :)

Summary: Good way to get injured if not careful
Review: While the exercise program is nice, it can be too advanced for a beginner. It is easy to push yourself too hard and injure your body by following the intensity recommendations in the book. It would be beneficial if a pre-program workout were included for those who don't work out much with weights. The nutrition tips thought were good, although I prefer Metrex cause I can get it for much less than Myoplex if I buy it at Costco.
