Rating: Summary: done BFL, changed my life ... for the better Review: This book works. No lies about how some "easy" gimmick will change one's body and life. Like Bill says it takes hard work, commitment, and a willingness to make changes in one's lifestyle. My wife and I took the challenge and together we shed over 30 pounds of fat, plus put on over 20 pounds of muscle in 12 weeks (for both of us). We are ordinary people with relatively little experience at body building (my wife had none before BFL) and we still got first-rate results. We even scored in the 94th percentile in the BFL competition for 2001, an accomplishment in which we both take pride. You do *not* need to be genetically predisposed to get great results. Just be careful not to overdo it and follow through on your commitment regarding each and every part of what it takes to be successful (meaning follow the suggestions for diet, sleep, weights, aerobics, water, and you can also supplements if you want quicker results).
Rating: Summary: Body For Life Review: This book has transformed both my wife and me. It is not only a program that will increase muscle or decrease fat this will transform you as a person mentally and physically. This is not a get fit quick program.. It takes setting goals and following the program. The book is well worth. And you will be able to relate to different people that give their testimonials. If people in wheel chairs and people that have other disabilities cna read this book and put it to use what was excuse. Go get the book, read it and put it to work....for life! (...)
Rating: Summary: Lousy. Plain lousy. Review: Very sparse. If you want to get into shape, ther are better books out there. The sections on weightlifting are (poor). Phillips is an admitted juicer, with little knowledge.
Rating: Summary: Totally Motivating! Review: This is probably the most SENSIBLE and HEALTHY program I have ever studied. I can't see how anyone could fail if they followed this faithfully!
Rating: Summary: BLF it is the one that works we here all the ones that don't Review: I have tried almost all diets & pills that come out on TV in the stores every where. I am 50 pounds over weight and have never stayed on a diet more than a week. Nothing they said modivated me or made me feel good about me, I was told about Body for Life & have been on the Program for three weeks never missing a work out. That is a Miracle it self, I have lost weight already I am never hungry & I feel GREAT about ME! This man Mr. Phillips has inpired me where no other could. I read his book Front to Back & what hit home with me is when he says to Honor Self Promises if you can't honor, trust, and depend on your own word, well.. that may be the root of a lot of the challenges in your life-a lot more than you realize. When I read this It hit home & I made the promise to my self to take the 12 week challenge & Honor my promise to my self it has opened my mind, body & soul. It feels great when people I know have not seen me in a week or so & they say Tammy you look great you lost weight & your just glowing! What are you doing? I simply say BODY FOR LIFE it has saved mine & opened doors I did not know I had. Most Diets are all about counting calories, weighing foods this one was made simple its all about just do it & feel great about doing it. I want to thank Bill Phillips for finally coming out with a diet that is so much more than just a diet it is a Mind & body altering diet. All you can do is lose the pounds , gain the muscle, and gain tons of inner strength & self assurance to do what or where ever your dreams will take you. OPEN YOUR WINGS AND FLY YOU ARE A WINNER in all that you do.
Rating: Summary: Body for LIFE - by Mr Mom Review: Hi - and a beautiful day it is too! I wrote my initial review 4 weeks into the 12 week program. The 12 weeks are now finished and I have lost 56 pounds of fat I needed to be without. I took pics and wrote follow up articles every four weeks on my website for single parents at www.mrmoms.org (It is not a .com site). There is a link there for those interested in reading what I wrote about Body-for-Life. You cannot imagine how many single parents I have met since I started getting involved in things as "Mr Mom." It is just sad how many of these people are overweight and see their lives and personal situations as hopeless. If there's a hell on earth it's the absence of hope. In my view, Bill Phillips is different than the hucksters out there trying to capitalize on the desperation of overweight people in that his is a no nonsense truth. The tragedy is, every huckster out there has their "Greek God" looking guy touting their silver bullet. In a world of "silver bullets, magic elixers and pills, Bill Phillips is preaching a "hard way" approach - drowning people will reach out in desperation toward anything that gives them hope but they go for whatever is easiest to get to. Unfortunately, many people see the BfL winners pics and assume they represent "one in a million," gifted people with "special" bodies. For all they know, all the rest who dedicated themselves, committed themselves and worked their butts off may still be out there fat, miserable and anonymous. I can see why they believe that. They have seen a zillion "Greek God" looking guys who swear they got that way on the bowflex, Slenderlife, NutraLife, HerbalLife, MetaboLife, the chromium thing or using some little cheap thing made of plastic that stows neatly under the bed. Yet, when we try it, we are still fat and miserable and nobody invites us to the infomercials. The Body-for-LIFE book is great and the results are miraculous if you are willing to do the work. Come see. Ciao, Bill Branscum www.mrmoms.org
Rating: Summary: Do it! Review: Quit making execuses, get this book and get in shape. What are you waiting for? The information is here. Buy it! Then Do it! Be sure to make a donation to "Make A Wish Fondation" if you were touched by this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for just about everyone Review: This book is well written and timely in its advice. Mr. Phillips has done an excellent job bringing together the concepts and execution of the three major aspects of fitness; nutrition, weight training and cardivascular exercise. His manner of presentation is engaging and appealing, and the information presented is free of jargon and buzzwords. I feel that many of the people who criticize his book for promoting his product, or claim they cannot afford Myoplex and therefore cannot complete the program, are missing the point. The book clearly presents the concepts necessary to succeed, and at no point labels any product as absolutely necessary. All in all, an excellent book.
Rating: Summary: This is not a fad! Review: It's a way of life. My wife are are doing it right now. We needed it, we needed something like this in our lives. Go ahead and try it! I dare ya! 12 weeks folks that's all it takes to become a better person. The book is the door to step through, what you do on the other side of that door is up to you. This is no Adkins, no Slim fast, and no magic pill that will melt your fat away. You want to look good and feel great you have got to earn it! This book is the key to that and much much more. It's not a fad it's a way of life.
Rating: Summary: Great motivator Review: I have read a few books on making personal and physical life changes and have never read one as inspiring as the Body for Life book. Bill Phillips makes it possible to work out in a small time frame and still lets us eat. I agree that he suggests the EAS supplements but he knows they work and he also mentions in the book that supplements are not required to get results. His approach helps people learn that it is not enough to eat well and exercise to look good but to be overall healthy. I think if this program can make the difference for someone who has been strugging with the yo yo dieting syndrome then it is worth it.
