Summary: Produces results, but hard to maintain
Review: I read the book and completed a 12-week challenge. I was not terribly overweight, but I did manage to lose over 15 pounds and drop my bodyfat from 18% to 6% at the end of my 12 weeks. I bulked up my muscles, gained strength, lost inches and pounds, and built a physique I was quite proud of...that was about 8 months ago. Now, I've gained back the weight (and waistline) and apart from the bigger muscles, am pretty much back where I started from. That brings me to my point: this program does produce results, but it is very difficult to maintain over a long period of time. I think the main reason why is because you really have to push yourself to the max in the gym every time and while you get a great sense of accomplishment, your mind also wears down. Going to the gym for 5 days out of the week, albeit for short 45 (weights) and 20 minute (aerobics) sessions can be hard to maintain. Also, I found eating 6 small meals a day was difficult because it was not practical as far as the time spent preparing meals and working it into your schedule as well as the additional cost for food. So my other point is that you have to be a little creative and constantly find ways to work the program into your life because it does require compromise, planning, and lots of effort. Another note: this program can be hard on your wallet!! Even with a gold card at GNC, I found myself spending a lot of money on protein shakes, creatine, and such (of course the book pushes EAS products.) The bottom line is that this program does produce results if you're willing to work very hard at it. Also, you will have to make a significant change in your lifestyle and it can be expensive too. If you can maintain this intensity for life, then all the power to you. Me...I'm going to start a low insulin eating program "sugar busting" and reqular exercise for good health that I can maintain for a lifetime.

Summary: common sense
Review: I have completed 3 l2 week sessions. Everything Mr. Phillips says is true. If you eat correctly and exercise a little every day you naturally feel better. Its perfect for those busy people in todays world. You always know what a serving size is because it is you fist sized. You don't leave home with out it. 20 min. a day of exercise is a blink. You are done before you know it. If you eat 6 small meals a day you keep your sugar leavels are constant. The mental part is truly the best. Mentally you are in top condition. Its common sense. You eat right, exercise just alittle and your body does the rest.

Summary: This is not just another health book.
Review: This is not just another health book, it has been a best-seller for almost three years and has been my personal fitness bible. If you sincerely desire fitness and health, let me explain why I think this book is indispensable. Exercise, dieting, etc. is very hard work and I think a lot of people get discouraged and quit too early into the program they create for themselves. The reason, I believe, is that they lack the conviction that the result is going to be worth the exertion and sacrifice.

You may not have heard of Bill Phillips yet, but you have probably seen his ads - the ones with all the before and after pictures - hundreds of them with only a 12-week time span between the before and after - and utterly unbelievable transformations.
Space is too short here to communicate my enthusiasm, but trust me on this - when you become convinced you can transform your body, health, and fitness, the effort you have to exert seems small by comparison. Like many things in life, it starts in the mind and the foundation is belief - in yourself and in your plan. Bill Phillips has helped literally tens of thousands of people improve, no make that transform, their lives.... you can adopt his plan and have a proven, tested blueprint that will work for you if you will do the work.

Summary: Great book that will change your life
Review: I have been a fan of Bill Phillips for a while now and I discovered his work and company quite accidentally.

Body for Life: 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strength by Bill Phillips is a great book that will change your life. This book has a fairly simple program that challenges you to change your life. The concepts are familiar - eat nutritious meals and workout. The book takes those concepts a little further laying out a three-times-a-week workout program for 12 weeks. I think Bill has taken some very simple concepts and taken a no-gimmick approach to fitness. His challenge is very simple - Give me 12 weeks and do what I tell you and I will transform your physique. And this program works as you can see people who have achieved astounding results in 12 weeks via. the pictures and testimonials included in the book and website.

I've bought over 5 copies of this book for friends and family and I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a serious book that will change their life and body. If you are looking for a quick fix or an easy pill, this is not a book for you.

Summary: Great for both Experienced and Beginners!
Review: I am into my 4th week and am very excited about going to the gym, though I'd rather workout at home. I plan on buying a tuff stuff bench, ProForm 920 S EKG Bike and a set of PowerBlock Dumbbell(Highly, Highly recommended) because of the fast plate change and overall value! My biggest weakness is nutrition preparation. I feel that if I can get that down, I will loose the fat much quicker to expose my abs. I love the 12, 10, 8, 6, 12, 12 reps and sets routine. Documenting each and every set, rep, cardio, supplements and meal lets you review and trouble shoot your progress! The motivational part I can kind of do with out. As far as supplements go you can easily substitute myoplex (meal)EAS, betalean hp (fat burner)EAS and betagen (creatine)EAS, with Methoxy Meal by MHP, Thyro-Slim AM/PM by MHP, TRAC by MHP, Meso-Tech by MuscleTech, Hydroxycut by MuscleTech, Cell-Tech by MuscleTech, Pro-MRP by SciFit, Thermal Cuts by SciFit, Cell Fit by SciFit, MET-Rx Drink by Met-Rx, Mass Action by Met-Rx just to name a few.

What I like most about the book is that it teaches you to NEVER just go work out without planned it beforehand! And because of that rule I am seeing great results and highly recommend it for both experienced and beginners alike.

Review: The right way to get in shape and tranform your mental and physical health for life... This book is for any one who wants to change their life style either loosing pounds or just wanting to tone up but have never been motivated or have been fustrated by too many gimicks out there.

Summary: Good But Could Be Better!
Review: The concept is great and if followed it does work. This is just
me personally but in order to follow this to the letter I have to get up at 430am in order to complete all reps of the exercises and at 430am I am not awake enough to count the reps
and sets, I keep forgetting where I am at. I have been trying to determine an easier way of counting and still get the same physical results just maybe not as quickly. It is a good program just not time-wise feasable for me to follow.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Highly effective and keeps you on track
Review: I started working on this program 2 months back, and have seen results that exceeded my goals. The great thing about this program (and the book) is that it provides you with data sheets that you can use, and keep track of your progress. The other interesting fact is the way Bill recommends doing your exercises...starting with a level 5, and going all the way upto 10... I have been going to the gym for 3 years now, and have not seen any other technique work so well...

I believe that this technique would work well for ppl. of all sizes and shapes, and that if you are sincere for 3 months, you will (guaranteed) see results.

I entered 4 stars coz' most, if not all, the information in the book is on Bill's website and you really dont need the book. Additionally, you can download the fact sheets etc. also for the website. It's nice to keep the book, but is not really required.
