Summary: Worth the effort!!
Review: I started this program out of curiosity. I wasnt that fat but was probably in the worst shape of my life. I was 5'10 194 pounds and starting to get a bit of a beer gut and had some love handles going. I was just feeling sluggish and looking for a way to feel better.

I started BFL because it had a total package of simple nutrition rules and an easy to follow excercise plan. I took to it right away. I didnt really need the whole Rah Rah you can do it sections but it did help me visualize my goals. I never felt hungry the whole time and I lost over 30 pounds of scale weight while adding quite a bit of Muscle and dropping pretty heavily in body fat %. During the program, it was odd how many people asked me what I was doing and made comments how good I looked. Even my male co workers said things. I dont look like the guys in the pictures by any means but My weight is lower then it has been since I graduated High School and even though I am not super ripped and defined, I am looking quite good physically. I went through my 12 weeks and kept right on going. I have hit a plateau but i think that is more to do with my seriousness at this point then the program.

Ok so whats bad about BFL? Planning. It really takes a ton of planning and it does make you change your eating habits to fit in so many meals. If you do this, do it seriously or dont do it at all. It really works if you work with it. Sometimes it was frustrating trying to cram meals in but its well worth it. Other then that I have no complaints and wish I could shake Bill Phillips hand for helping me get back to good physical shape!!

Summary: Buy the Book!!
Review: Buy the Book. The fist time I did the 12 week challenge I went from 270 lbs down to 220lbs and a 48 inch waste down to a 36. If you stick to the plan in the book you too will see results. That was just over a year ago and I have kept the weight off. Thank you Bill Phillips. Oh, did I mention Buy the Book.

Summary: Easy to follow, motivating plan.
Review: This is a very inspirational book. There is a specific weight, aerobic, and eating plan that is easy to follow and doesn't take much time to do. I read the book in one night and started the next day (and have so far kept it up longer than any other program I have tried). For people who need structure and motivation, this is the book. It also is a great way to get introduced to weight training, and is worth a purchase for that alone.

One bad word on the EAS supplements, the "Myoplex" shakes that the book recommends you have three times a day (and of course is a company started by the author)..they have both aspartame (nutra-sweet) and partially-hydrogenated vegetable oil (of which he actually talks about in the book as being bad). Therefore, if you are going to take nutritional shakes, it makes more sense to buy your own at a health food store. It's cheaper as well. If you want to join the 'challenge' you only have to purchase one EAS product.

Summary: !!!Excellent!!!
Review: I am the type of person who can't sit still long enough to read a book, but this book really kept my attention! It had a ton of useful information and was very well written and easy to comprehend! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who's interested in exercising and loosing weight!! Excellent book!

Summary: This was the program that finally "did it" for me
Review: I did this program for one year, and was wearing a size 8 (I am 5'8" tall, 35 year old woman), which was my absolute ideal--I never thought I'd get down to that size again.

I loved the program, did very well with it. Then some big life changes came up, and I thought that since I had lost the weight, it would probably just magically stay off. I stopped using the BFL program and started using exercise videos 4 - 5 x/ week, but with no particular eating plan. I kept gaining weight, and finally hit the end up my rope when I found myself in a size 14.

Three weeks ago I took the Body for Life book out of the bookshelf, dusted it off and started over. I have found that my mood swings are gone, and I am generally a happier person to be around. The book talks about supplements. (I do only the Myoplex shales, because I love them so much) It's so much more than that. For me it's been about seeing the difference in how I feel eating whole foods. It means no more carb rushes and crashes, rather a steady fuel burn of carbs and quality proteins. It means tons more energy, and I'm in a great mood.

At three weeks, I find that I am on target with what my goals are. I have 9 more weeks to get back down to that size 8, but right now I am pleased to say I've already gotten down to a size 12, and have lost an inch off each thigh and 1 and 1/2 inch of my waist. This is in 3 weeks.

I am very grateful to Bill Phillips for writing this book. It has enriched my life.

Summary: Some good...........
Review: To start off, if you wish to use this book for Bill's Body-for-Life challenge, do not forget to use his products! You are not eligible unless you do. This book is full of inspirational stories, has a very doable work-out plan (one that will not consume your life) and will definitely motivate you and help you to realize that you can be in control of your life and weight. Bill and I do tend to disagree on the amount of carbohydrate consumed (I believe that a lower carb diet is truly the key to permanent weight loss), although he may be changing his tune as I notice that many of his EAS supplements now come in lo-carb versions.

Summary: Great Book and Great Results so far
Review: This is the first time I've been impressed enough by a book to write a review. I am a 29 year old Doctor of Chiropractic and on and off weightlifter. After lifting hard for 18 months I was still dissappointed in my physique. I was eating decent and getting 4 days of strenous weightlifting and playing competitive softball 2-3 per week. Yet I still wasn't getting the results I wanted. A massage therapist/gym owner recommended the book to me. So, I ordered from amazon.
At first glance, the workout seems too easy. I had been spending at least an hour and fifteen minutes in the gym 4 days/week. And I thought 20 minutes of cardio was a little light for my taste. I was also a little leary of eating 6 meals (3 by protein shake) would be excessive for me. I was in for a huge surprise! The workouts are tough. The cardio is tough. But the eating is a breeze.
I do my 3 days a week lifting at 5:30AM and my 3days cardio at 6:00AM. I space my meals out thru the day and have yet to be hungry. In less than one month on the program, I have dropped from 187 lbs at 22% bodyfat (38 lbs total fat) to 180 lbs at 17% bodyfat (31 lbs total fat). The previous statement should alert you to the fact that I haven't lost any lean tissue, just fat. For the first time since I was in high school, I can see my abs and actually look and feel like a well conditioned athlete. Triples at the softball field don't get me winded and all my buddies are getting on the program also.
I also recommend the program to patients at my clinic.
In closing, it takes self discipline and drive to do it, but the results will come.

Summary: Motivating testimonials but lacks content and depth
Review: This book has lots of testimonials which are great if you need motivation. However, the content, I thought, was shallow and elementary(what was with all the sappy stories?). Also, the small "healthy" eating chapter (and it was just that a "small" chapter) was elementary and boring. Basically it told you to take supplements to make up for the nutrients you aren't getting from the foods he tells you to eat. They consist of veggies and lean meats. Although his information is simple, I was not at all impressed and learned nothing that I didn't already know. I would not recommend purchasing this book-just use common sense.

Summary: Changed my life
Review: As a person who was out of shape, over weight and unmotivated, this book changed all that. Finally got tired of buying larger pants and decided to do something. Got this book after seeing Bill Philips on Montel Williams show. Read it followed it, and no I did not use the supplements, and in 12 weeks went from 19% body fat to 8.5%. Went from a stomach over my belt to a flat six pack set of abs. Feel great and energy has gone into other parts of my life.
Will warn you however the program is not EASY. If you want results you have to WORK for them. Follow the plan in the book and put 100% effort into it and you will get the results you want. I also saw other at the gym, like myself who had the BFL workout sheets. They did not put the effort in and then complained that the program did not work. Not true, they did not work. You MUST put the effort in to get the RESULTS out.
