I bought this book yesterday and i could not stop reading it until i finished the whole book. I will be starting this program on monday and will be stetting up my gym in my basement. Rating: Summary: If you are thinking of buying the book from amazon.com .... Review: Hello, I have done BFL myself a year ago and I have lost amazingly 40 lbs !! ya 40 ! I truely recommend it to anyone seeking a fit body and a tight 6 pack !
Rating: Summary: Get to the point Review: I bought both the book and the tape, thinking I could reinforce the text by following along on the CD. They don't track very well. Also, I am into the second track on the second CD, and still not into the program yet. As I've flipped through the book, I find his ideas not too different from others I've read. Perhaps that's to be expected. Fitness generally comes from a basic set of regimines. But I'm thinking much of the material in both the CD and the book focuses a lot on personal back patting on the author's part, rather than getting to the point of the presentation. One of his points is to minimize the time spent with the diet and exercise, yet the book will take several hours to read and the program only is dealt with late in the presentations.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Info Review: I highly recommend this book for beginners, as well as advanced bodybuilders/people. The content is excellent and gives research-backed information and advice. As avid followers of MM and EAS probally know, this book contains a lot of previously printed material from those sources. Nonetheless, it is an excellent book for learning new strategies about nutrition and training, or even reinforcing what you may already know. The key to the program is the "Life" word. This is truly a "life" endeavor. To acheive optimal results, and to continue those gains over an extended period of time, you must literally change the way you live, eat, and perceive things. However, even adopting a few of the techniques of the program will net sufficient gains. Highly recommended! Also, I have been following B.Phillips' work for almost 10 years and he is undoubtebly one of the pioneers of the sport, as well as a reputable individual who truly cares about his customers.
Rating: Summary: Changes for Life Review: As the name implies, this book provides examples of how to build that 'Body for Life'. The book explains in simple terms how to lose weight, tone muscle and become overall physically fit amazed me. The success stories show real life people overcoming obstacles and being able to do the things they always wanted to do. This book is written for those people who do not feel comfortable going to the gym and for those who just cannot get motivated to work out past the first couple of weeks. This 12-week program is designed for all people and it is written in a language that anyone can understand. The book shows you not only how to set up a 'workout' routine, but also an eating and maintenance routine. I have seen results, not only in myself, but in other people who have tried the program. Even for those who feel they cannot accomplish the 12-week challenge, this book will motivate you to complete what you have started and honor self-promises. For those who hesitate, rest assured the book will more than pay for itself within a short period of time by showing you how to improve your health and overall well-being.
Rating: Summary: Blah, blah, blah...heard it before! Review: I admit that this author suggests some nice things and I'm sure that if you work his program it may or may not work. The problem is that all of his suggestions are cliche and lacking in originality and freshness. Nothing new here, same old song and dance.
Rating: Summary: Quest and this book, my key to success Review: I have to say as a trainer that I have read most all books on dieting, training and motivation and this book alongside with "The Quest for Peace, Love and a 24-Inch Waist" form the basis of all my training with clients. Deborah Low's book, "Quest..." challenges people's beliefs and puts your mind in the right space so that Body for Life can work. She provides a spiritual shift in perspective, so desperately needed and inspires you to be the best you can be while Phillip's book provides basic, effective workouts that guarantee a fit body. Any trainer will tell you that your client's success depends on the philisophical and inspirational aspect that Low teaches and they must do this first or they will end up trapped in the short-term, diet trap that all other programs lead to. Once you work through the exercises in Low's book, you can progress to Bill's book and find great success. Otherwise, people treat Bill's book like a diet; they do it for 12 weeks and then it's over. These two books should be sold together for ultimate, lifelong success. An all around complete mind, body and spiritual program. Get both today and you will never need a personal trainer.

Rating: Summary: Don't Drink (too much of the) Punch And You'll Be Fine Review: I purchased this book with the simple objective of following a simple, yet challenging workout regimen. Also, balanced with it a nutritional program that's not too outlandish (read: Atkins) but sensible. I'm over half way through the 12 week program and I must admit that I'm satisfied with my results so far. Not only have I lost 15 pounds, but also feel better both physically and mentally. I admit that I haven't been completely religious to the diet he recommends and I don't take his EAS supplements. I do, however, adhere to his basic portions of protein to carbs intake and the advice has worked out very well for me. One major criticism I have is that there are other sources of protein that he neglected to mention such as soy. Also, I haven't been crazy about my fat intake. I am vigilent, but not to the point where I'm about to steam everything and nonfat this-that-and-the-other. Again, I wasn't looking to get a cut gym body at the end of the 12 weeks, rather this book helped me get back on-track to a solid workout schedule.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding program, outstanding results!! Review: This is an excellent program that yields excellent results. I liked having a structured program, telling me how and when to work out, how many reps, etc. And you know exactly how much time each day to set aside for your workout. I went from zero exercise to exercising 6 days a week. I lost 16 pounds in 12 weeks and have muscle definition all over. I had so much energy the very first week that I completely gave up coffee - just didn't want it, didn't need it! I was never hungry with the 5 meals a day (I couldn't fit 6 meals in a day!). I also found that I didn't want my "day off" from the diet because of how great I felt eating "right" (no more uncomfortable fullness, heart burn, etc.) I also found that you can buy EAS products for much less money at GNC than on the EAS website! And there are many competing brands that are just as good for a lot less money. I urge anyone interested in transforming your body to try this program for one week, and I guarantee you'll be hooked. You'll see results in the mirror in 3-5 weeks.
