Summary: Mesmerizing fastpaced read
Review: I could not put this book down.My wife started reading the series and told me that it took place in Scotland where my grandparents were born so that was enough for me to see why she loved it so much.Claire and Jamie just jump off the pages and into your living room with you.I feel as though I have been transported back to Scotland with them.I would highly recommend this book to anyone.The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that Claire and Jamie missed out on twenty years of their life together.Looking forward to the next book.

Review: If you are purchasing this book first, pick up Outlander too, so that you can start the story at the beginning! Claire and Jamie are like family to me, I've re- re- re- read the now 5 books so many times they are falling apart. I still laugh and cry at times! This story and the characters are so compelling you want them to go on forever. I am anxiously awaiting the last (sigh) book, ( I finished The Fiery Cross in record time!). If you love good stories and great characters, you will absolutely love this series. It is the best story I've ever read

Review: This series of, now, five books will become like family to you. You will fall in love with the characters and not want to lose them. Diana Gabaldon has done her research. She has taken historical figures and magically woven them into the fabric of the lives of her fictional characters. Prepare yourself to open your heart and life to the most amazing of story tellers. I don't think anything will be able to prepare you for the attachment, the bond you will feel toward these characters. Awesome!

Review: Dragonfly in Amber is the second book in the series that begins with Outlander. Outlander was mesmerizing, a true insomnia inducing book. This one is good, but not quite so absorbing. It is 20 years since Claire has left Scotland by plunging herself between the rocks that initially transported her to another century. Now she is back in her own time, with a grown daughter, believing that her husband in Scotland, a Scottish Warrior, has died, leaving her pregnant and with no choice but to keep the promise she made him to return to her "real" husband in "real" time. The past won't leave her, though, and she simply must find out what happened to all those people in the 1700s that she knew and those that she loved. She hires an old family acquaintance to research the events of the last battle her Scottish husband fought in, and the results just might force her to return to Scotland, to finish unfinished business, and to look for a love she thought she would never see again. This book is nearly a thousand pages long, but it is worth sticking with it. Though not as exciting and adventure filled as Outlander, it is a great introduction to the next book in the series, Voyager, which I am starting to read. This series promises to be one that stays with you for a very long time.

Summary: A book to keep you up all night!
Review: This second action-packed installment in the Outlander series continues the saga of Jamie and Claire Fraser, and is full of historical details. The story begins in 1968, as Claire returns to Scotland with her 20-year old daughter Brianna, hoping to find out what happened to Jamie and his troops after he sent her back through the circle of stones to the 20th century. As Claire reveals the truth of her past to a reluctant Brianna and researcher Roger Wakefield, we are treated to more twists and turns in the adventures with Jamie and Claire. The pair live in France for a while, and later return to Scotland, as they attempt to thwart the return of Bonnie Prince Charles to Scotland and the impending doom he'll bring with the uprising of 1745. The book is packed with one adventure after another, taking reaaders on an emotional roller coaster ride. Readers searching for a lighthearted romance may be offended by the graphic violence or sexual content. Personally, I couldn't get enough. I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. reading, slept a few hours, and immediately picked it up and started reading it again when I woke up! I can't wait to read Voyager!

Review: The second installment in the Outlandish series is one of the best books I've read in a really long time, and in my opinion, better than Outlander. This story tells of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp, their plans to thwart a king, their upcoming child, and even a few surprise guests from the first book make an appearance. Diana Gabaldon's second published story is a success and will most likely be a classic of our times.

Review: Dragonfly in Amber was a great continuation of Outlander. I loved that the author didn't spend 100 pages giving you a history of the 1st book. This is the first time in a great while that I've been so engrossed in a book, that I couldn't quit reading! Just finished this one at 1am~

What a wonderful escape this and the other books in the series are. I don't read romance novels, fantasy novels, or much historical fiction, but these are some of my favorite books. Enjoy.

Review: This is an excellent writer! Those of you who would NEVER read a romance book----TRY GABALDON. I was told over a year ago to pick up Outlander and ignored the advice. Woe is me not to have found this author sooner. These are not picture perfect characters or settings, this is hardcore, real-life writing done at it's best.
