Rating: Summary: If it were possible, I would give this book 10 stars! Review: This book has something for everyone: adventure, love, travel, history, excitement, etc., etc., etc. I could go on, but I am sure the other reviewers have pretty much covered it. Beware, however, that when you buy this book (2nd on the series, read Outlander first) and the other three currently published, your bill may go unpaid, house unclean and children hungry! :-) This series is extremely absorbing, but well worth it. I recommend buying the hardback books as you will undoubtedly read them over and over again.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Love Stories I've read! Review: When starting this book, I had a little trouble getting into it, but once I did, I didn't want it to end! I plan on reading the entire series! It was one of (if not, the best) Historical Romance I've read yet! Diana Gabaldon is an amazingly talented writer and I can't wait to read more of her books!
Rating: Summary: IT LEFT ME WONDERING WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT Review: A lady friend that I work with got me to read this book and left me wanting to read more. I've always wonder what it would be like to go back in time, with knowing what the future holds and trying to change some of histroy. This is a fantasick book with alot of histroy in it.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: We see the strength of Claire as she goes back through the stones (while she's pregnant with Brianna) and the bravery of Jamie as he goes to war. We also see the "real" Frank as he is not as passionate as Jamie. I'm halfway through the last book, "Drums of Autumn" and I'm sure this will be another great story.
Rating: Summary: The most romatic story of love that spans the ages. Review: This series of books is the best series which keeps you on your toes. You will be up until all hours of the night just wondering what will happen to Jamie next. You fall in love with the characters and cannot wait for the next adventure to begin. And you keep hoping that the story will go on.
Rating: Summary: THE MOST ASTOUNDING BOOKS I'VE EVER READ!!! Review: I am an avid romance reader. When I came across Outlander and saw the size of the book and the storyline I had to read it. This book blew my mind away. I have never read a book that is its equal. Then the other three books came out and I was hooked. I'm enthralled by Mrs. Gabaldon's characters and plot. I love books that take me away from the harsh realities of life and that stretch my imagination. This series definitely does that. I anxiously await the 5th and 6th books of this series, but dread its end. I'm looking forward to whatever else Mrs. Gabaldon writes.
Rating: Summary: Worthy sequal to "Outlander" Review: Just when I thought I've learned more than I ever really wanted to know about Scottish history, Ms. Gabaldon skillfully lures me into her historical web once again. This series is so vividly well written, that when at last I'm forced to put the book down, I immediately feel the need for a shower! I enjoyed this second in the series almost as much as the first. The middle of the book went a little slow, and I felt that Alex's death scene with Jamie and Jack in the room together didn't quite ring true. If I had been "used" and tortured as Jamie had been by the perverted Jack Randall, I don't think I'd have been quite as sensitive to his feelings, beloved brother or not. We know our Jamie is delightfully more than any mere mortal, but even he has his limits of endurance shown more realistically in other parts of the saga. The satisfying ending left me hungry for more. Isn't it nice that I had the foresight to puchase "Voyager" so I don't have to wait. It's a compliment to Ms. Gabaldon that when I travel with her back to 1745 Scotland, my husband has a difficult time getting me back. Thanks again for another satisfying read!
Rating: Summary: Not as good at Outlander Review: Well, I just finished Dragonfly, and I have to admit, I had a hard time finishing it. I found it rather boring, especially around the middle of the book. I only keep reading to finish the book, becuase I do wish to continue with the series. (which I have heard is much better). I found myself skimming through a lot of the book, especially the time in Paris. Becuase of the skimming I missed a lot of the plot (my fault). I never understood why Jamie didn't freak when he was at Alex Randalls house and Jack showed up. He seems awfully calm, after trying to kill him the last time. Oh well, I am going to give my mind a break, and read some of the newer books out, then pick up 'Voyager' in the fall.
Rating: Summary: fun light reading for historical novel lovers Review: I have found this series well researched and fun to read. Character development is good - you like the good guys, dislike the bad guys and know why in each case. Ties to other books in the series are significant but this book can be read on its own. Though the plot differs in each, the style & prose are similar in all of the novels so by the fourth, I found it a bit repetitive. Otherwise very good, recommended entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking!!!!! Review: I have just finished reading Outlander, (which I started reading because it was a big book, and my mother was reading it). They way Ms. Gabaldon takes you through Scotland and the usage of the Scottish "burr" throughout the book feels like I'm in Scotland! I cried when Claire left Jamie and felt heartbroken for Jamie as well. I have just started reading Voyager and this looks like another great book. I can't wait for the next two!!!!!
