Summary: Cannie could be your best friend
Review: I enjoyed this book tremendously. Jennifer Weiner's writing style is humorous, honest and makes her characters seem like you know them from somewhere or would love to have Cannie as your best friend. The book was light and easy reading yet in its underlying structure you are being taught a lesson and reminded of the best things in life. I look forward to more works by this author and highly recommend this, her first book.

Summary: Loved this one!!
Review: I found this book while browsing at a book store on my lunch one day and was intrigued by the cover. I began reading it in the store that day and just HAD to buy it. I could relate to Cannie and her problems with weight. She was hilarious and everyday I would tell my coworkers about something else she had done. Her relationships with her ex-boyfriend/father of her child and her best friend, the situation with her mother was outrageous. I was so glad that she decided to keep the baby and raise her on her own and I related so much with the post-partum that she went through. My favorite part was towards the end when she was writing her article for the magazaine Bruce worked at, when she said that she had started gaining back her weight and she had started feeling like her old self again and that was OKAY with her. I really liked the fact that Jennifer Weiner didn't keep it in the book that she lost weight and that made her feel better about herself, so much now a days it's BAD to be overweight, so it made me feel good that she had been alright with being overweight. It's okay to be the way she is and she didn't have to change to be loved by a man. I really loved this book and could not stop talking about it to EVERYONE I know. I can't wait to see what Jennifer has come up with next. And maybe one day this book will be a movie and that story line of her weight will be in it...that would be great.

Summary: Loved it, loved it, loved it!!
Review: This book was just WONDERFUL. I have never laughed so hard at any novel in my life. The story was great, and the character of Cannie is easy to follow, and easy to relate to. The story line flowed, and was really.. very heartfelt. I loved it to the point where I'd proably read it again in the future, and also recommend it as well. There are a few twists in the reading, which made it all the worth while, and Weiner's sense of humor behind Cannie's snappy comments made my eyes water, it was so hilarious.

Summary: I think I am being followed
Review: I just finished the book - unreal I feel like I was followed through 1/2 my life! No I'm not a single mother, Jewish (unless by injection works), or a writer, but this book hit on so many things women go through every day!

How many of us have longed after that one guy we thought was the love of our lives? Only to realize (about 2 years too late) that he was a bum, treated you like [junk], smelled funny, ate like a farm animal (I think you get my point). Why do we do this to ourselves? Not to mention going through the torment of not measuring up or maybe I should say measuring up too much.

I am currently single after being married for 6 years, single for three, in a relationship for another three, and am dating again. At 33 I felt like my options were limited. Not only can I relate to the weight issue - I have struggled with it all my life being anywhere from a size 6 to 18 - but at 33 you either find men between 30 & 40 who can't wait to get married and have their 2 kids, perfect wife (size 8), house in the burbs and a Mercedes in the driveway. Or you get the 40 and over who have done all that and are now "enjoying life" ([seeing] everything in sight). Well, I don't want either thank you very much! After read this book I feel re-born realizing what every self help book in the world has told us time and again - to love yourself no matter what.

I have several friends that I have just purchased this book for that are going through the same thing. I can't wait for them to read it and see themselves in Cannie.

The last two days have been filled with laughter and tears. I am so upset that the book ended - I WANT MORE!!!

I will be the first in line when Jennifer's next book comes out!

Summary: Bravo
Review: Bravo and thank you Jennifer for bringing Cannie into life. "Good in Bed" caught my eyes in an Athens bookstore. I stood at the shelf and started reading the first chapter, then I sat on the floor and kept reading until the store clerk told me they were closing. I bought the book and didn't put it down the whole night and the next morning, until I got out of the train and sat on the bench in the metro to finish the last 7 pages before I'd go to the office.

I can't find the right words to describe the thrill and satisfaction this book brings to a reader. I took an unforgettable journey with Cannie to her workplace, to her doctor and her friends and family, to the streets of Philadelphia, to her thoughts and fears, to her memories and not even once I found myself bored or uninterested.

Summary: Funny, Touching and Fabulous!
Review: I picked up "Good in Bed" thinking it would be another funny, cynical single woman looking for love and trying to get her life together book--and, don't get me wrong, I really enjoy those sort of books, despite being plenty cynical but no longer single--but author Jennifer Weiner's debut is a lot more than just another American version of Bridget Jones.

As with many first novels it's obvious that huge chunks of 28-year-old, somewhat overweight struggling journalist "Candace Shapiro" are taken straight from Weiner's own life. And the personal touch shows in the all-too-true writing, which draws you in and will make just about any woman sympathize with the often hapless "Cannie," as her friends and former lovers know her.

Cannie's already shaky world is turned upside when former slacker flame Bruce turns up as a the newest columnist for trendy magazine "Moxie," a "Cosmopolitan" clone. Not only does Bruce's sudden success shock Cannie, a second-tier entertainment reporter at a Philly newspaper, but the fact that he's writing about their sex life, and Cannie's struggles with her weight, is far from helpful. I mean, wasn't her missing missing-in-action louse of a father and the fairly recent discovery that her mother is in love with someone named "Tanya" enough to deal with?

As Weiner takes us into Cannie's life she makes everything from meeting (and befriending) a major movie star to dealing with the aftereffects of a misguided reunion, of sorts, with Bruce, eminently real and totally believable. Anyone who has ever struggled with weight, relationships, career and family--and that's everyone, isn't it?--will see pieces of themselves in Cannie.

Totally fun and deeply touching, Weiner is winner. I can't wait to read more!

Summary: WONDERFUL ! Loved it.
Review: This book was so witty and well written. I loved it. I had just finished Jemima J and liked that until 1/2 way through it got predictable and too sappy and Daniel Steel-ish.
This book is excellent.....best I've read in a while.

Summary: Wonderful Book!
Review: I got this book on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I loved it, couldn't put it down, and didn't want to put it down. All the characters and situations were so real to me. I can't wait for the next Jennifer Weiner book to come out.

Summary: Part fantasy, part reality
Review: My only complaint of this book is the lack of space to give a more detailed ending. Maybe there will be a sequel, as it seems the author was tired at the end and stopped abruptly with the psychological development of the character. It was great to read a book that dealt with a heartbreak in a mature, rather than petty way. The author takes us through very familiar feelings of regret, anger, and sadness in an intellectual, and non-pathetic way by giving us believable characters that we can all relate to. The introduction of the starlet was ingenious and thoughtful as well. I wish that characters relationship with Cannie were developed more. All in all, a great read that offers solace to anyone that has felt they weren't good enough, or had suffered a broken heart.
