Summary: Blown Away...
Review: This is an amazing read. It will completely captivate and addict you. Start this one early in the day if you want to get any sleep; you will not want to put it down! A must read for any woman who has ever looked in the mirror and not liked the reflection looking back at her. Cannie's character proves that happiness does not come in a size 6 body. Miss Weiner, PLEASE write more!

Summary: Inside Every Woman's Head
Review: Fat or thin, short or tall, blonde or brunette, every woman at some point in her life has felt insecure and dissatisfied. Jobs, men, parents...sometimes your dog is really the only person who gets you.
Jennifer Weiner has perfectly tapped into this feeling. Cannie is a woman everyone can relate to--and the humor with which the author tells her story makes it impossible to put down. Buy it, read it and pass it on to all the women in your life!

I anxiously await Jennifer's next book.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: We live in a time where everybody wants to write a book about somebody. Good in Bed is about a lady who's ex-boyfriend writes a tell all about her that's very embarrasing. She is very strong and comes out all the better. Another tell all book is In-Law Drama where a lady writes a book about her sarcastic, hateful in-laws.

Summary: Thank you, Ms. Weiner
Review: "Good in Bed" is a masterpiece of modern women's fiction. Not only is the book laugh-out-loud funny, but it's heroine, Cannie Shapiro, is a realistic character who manages to persevere and overcome all kinds of troubles. Moreover, as an overweight woman, Cannie still has a fun social life, is healthy, and accepts her body as it is--in short, she's a positive overweight role model that flies in the face of the stereotype of the overweight woman as sluggish, insecure, and self-deprecating. Cannie is smart, funny, resourceful, and Jennifer Weiner is an incredibly promising writer. Can't wait to read more from her!

Summary: PERFECT beach book (i'm there now!)
Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK! I thought it was well written and the author seemed to be intelligent and creative. i didn't like how graphic some of the sex scenes were; i don't mind hearing a little about her sex life, but sometimes it went into way too much detail. i also didn't like how much it droned on and on. it felt like some of the middle of the book could be erased without ruining the story. and i hated when she got really down on herself (especially that huge period of time at the end of the book) because it just made me get all depressed and didn't make me want to keep reading. i really liked the great characterization; cannie is so cool and i totally feel a connection with her. and then there is Dr. K; omg, i am so in love with him, he is my new fictional boyfriend (yes i know how sad that sounds!) i think this is a fantastic book for anyone who is sad about their body; it helped boost my confidence and i now consider Cannie, the main character, a good role model. ages 15 and up (because of the unnecessary sexual scenes)

Review: Why did Jennifer Weiner only write one book? I loved this book. It made me feel so good, like a warm blanket wrapped around me. Please tell her to write more. I'm addicted.

Summary: Loving a Larger Woman
Review: "Good in Bed" was the most recent book selection in one of my reading groups. Our past few selections have been a bit more on the literary side, but we decided to lighten things up for the summer. "Good in Bed" was our first selection for the summer season and in my opinion, it was an excellent choice. It was a quick, enjoyable, easy read without being a total piece of fluff. A perfect beach book!

The novel is told in the first person by 28 year old Cannie Shapiro who works as a writer for a newspaper in Philadelphia. Cannie recently decided to split with her boyfriend of 3 years, Bruce, and is horrified to find herself the focus of a magazine article that he writes called "Loving a Larger Woman". This article jolts Cannie into a mission to improve her life. The book follows Cannie as she deals with love, family, and career. Cannie is a strong woman with a fabulous sense of humor. Several outrageous, fairy-tale-like events happen to her throughout the course of the novel. And while some of these may seem far-fetched it is a great, entertaining story and a wonderful way to escape from the tedium of your everyday life.

One great aspect of the novel is that unlike many others dealing with a main female character that is overweight, Cannie does find contentment in her life without dropping down to a size 6. Cannie is a great, strong female character who is likable and easy to identify with.

Summary: Do yourself a favor, read this book!
Review: If you have ever felt not quite accepted, on the outer edge, because of your weight, height, hair color, skin color, etc., this book is for you. If you have struggled with divorced parents, or parents who don't get along and are non-existant, read this book. If you find yourself talking to your dog because he is the only person you feel you can relate to, lock the bedroom door and read this book. This is one of the best books I have ever read. I laughed, I cried, and I identified w/ Cannie.

Again, do yourself a favor and read this book!
