Summary: Excellent summer read!
Review: I absolutely loved this book! I loved the people in the book and was sorry when I finished it. I look forward to more from this author! I love Cannie and Nifkin! I hope to hear more about them soon. This book made me laugh outloud at times, and it also made me cry.

Summary: Fun Summer Read
Review: I thought this book was a fantastic read. It had all the elements that appeal to me in a good book: (1) I was never quite sure how it was going to end. (2) After just a couple of chapters, I felt like I personally knew several of the characters. (3) It made me laugh out loud. (4) It made me cry. (5) I could totally relate to the main characters feelings and the situations in which she was placed. AND (6) It was mostly very believable, meaning it was fairly realistic.

I highly recommend Good In Bed. It is light reading. And though Cannie Shapiro (the main character) has a very sad life and has been thru alot, the book is crafted so well that it doesn't bog you down emotionally. In fact, I had trouble putting it down once I got started on it and it made me laugh out loud. Read it in bed, read it at the beach, read it on the bus, the train, a plane....just read it....you'll enjoy it!

Summary: Wow, What a great book
Review: I am not sure there are the words to describe how wonderful I think this book is. I found the main character a delight. As I read the book, I felt like I had just met a new friend and we were at dinner swapping life stories together. Cannie, the main character, and I connected on so many levels. I think she would do the same for anybody that has every felt they didn't measure up in today society with weight, hair, looks, etc... As others have mentioned, I am glad the author didn't end the story were she ended up changing her physical self to fit in. I think as women you will relate to many of the issues she brings up in this book: Love, broken heart, crazy family, pain, self worth, being strong, and many more. As I have told my friends, this book I will read more than once.

Summary: Makes you laugh, makes you cry
Review: This book has everything I like in a story. It has romance, it has death (actually I don't like death in a story, I don't know why I said that). It makes you laugh out loud, and it makes you cry (at least, it made me cry). The whole time I read this book I was thinking it would make a good movie.
I finished the book feeling good, as the moral of the story if that thin does not equal happy -- happiness is something that you have to make happen for yourself, regardless of how much you weigh.
I liked that this was the message of the book, as it is so different than what most movies, TV, even books tout. Also, in this book the main character has her dreams come true. Everything she wants she gets: love, fame, perfect ending, etc. Which is how it should be!
Bring this book to the beach, read it on a Sunday afternoon, just get comfortable and enjoy it!

Summary: Heavy Pleasure from a Light Read...
Review: I completely enjoyed this book! I highly recommend it for a nice diversion.

Although Good in Bed is writing in the same "Bridget Jones" genre...Jennifer Weiner has fleshed-out much more believable characters and events. Not everything fell into place in the end and at least one character was truly despicable.

On a side note...if you are from Philly or South Jersey, you will LOVE the local references. Born and raised there, but now living in Washington DC, I was actually homesick! Thank you Jennifer for mentally bringing me home!!!

Summary: Good in All Aspects!
Review: What a great book! This book is written along the "30-something-Single-Girl" genre; but this character (Cannie) shows an incredible amount of depth. She's not so flaky and her reactions are very reasonable and credible -- very real-like. when she was happy or angry or upset -- she responded much the way I would.

I really enjoyed this book and hope the author comes out with another!

Summary: Good Read on the Beach
Review: I was so thrilled by "Good in Bed." I browsed it in a bookstore and didn't buy it thinking it would be another Bridget Jones Diary type. A friend lent it to me before vacation and I didn't realize what a treat I was in for.
Jennifer Weiner writes with a combination of wit, sensitivity and gives an emotional depth to her character Cannie which is unfounded in such sister books like Jemima J. It has psychological depth and portrays a smart woman dealing with healing her original demons and making her way in the world that is very unkind to nonvogue bodies. Cannie is a character that you admire and feel compassion for.
The best part of the book was its lack of predictablility and the curves it took. Okay, so it did have a Cinderella ending but she had more than her share of dysfunction along the way. Peppered with delicious one liners and quick wit, Good In Bed is a great read any where!!! Kudos to Jennifer Weiner on a great triump.

Summary: Author makes unforgivable mistake ...
Review: A pleasant-enough read until about halfway through, when Weiner FORGETS she has told us on page 3 that Cannie was imitating her mother's life partner, Tanya (also spelled Tayna in this poorly edited novel) when she first meets Bruce. Later, she tells us she and Bruce were dating the day she is devastated by the news that her mother is gay and that the woman who's been living with her is, in fact, more than just a friend. If the author didn't care enough about Cannie to get the details of her life right, why should we? Sloppily written and lazily edited; a complete disappointment.

Summary: Cannie's everyone's best friend
Review: Perusing the aisles at bookstores gives you a bewildering selection of books. What's a body to read nowadays? In the middle of all this jungle of existential angst and postmodern tripe comes a refreshing novel about a large size chick who feels like she's your best friend from the first page. She's witty, strong, and she's living her life as SHE wants to live it, no matter what situation she finds herself in. Jennifer Weiner is a jewel of a novelist; no-nonsense, up front, and she doesn't give in to stereotype or fairy tale endings. Can't wait for her next book, In Her Shoes, due in September. Neither can I wait for the movie version of Good In Bed. My 15 year old daughter also loved it. READ it!

Summary: RESTORED MY LOVE OF READING!
Review: I was inspired to write this review after visiting jenniferweiner.com. In one of her old posts she says that she checks her rating religously, so I am here to support her. I could not put this book down! Cannie is such a wonderful character and she tells it like it is. This book DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!. I feel that I got more than my money's worth. I can't wait for her next book "In Her Shoes" (you can read the first chapter on Jen's web page) Sisters Maggie and Rose sound just as entertaining as Cannie.
