Rating: Summary: It's working so far! Review: I've had the Atkins diet book for a couple of months and just got around to reading it, wish I would of started two months ago. I've been on the diet for six day's and have lost 10 pounds. As with many diets at least the many I've been on, I did have the headache the sore back the ill feeling etc. etc. however if your a veteran dieter like I am you know this is common when you start a diet. However after the second day I felt fine and have much more energy and I'M NOT HUNGRY! I am a absoulute bread freak but with seeing the pounds drop I'll go without, I still have cheese. I'm sure this diet isn't for everyone but it's working for me.
Rating: Summary: Good starter ..but NOT FOR PERMANENT!! Review: I found Dr. Atkins book to be fascinating in explaining how insulin effects the system. His discussions on sugar and carbs and heart disease are scientifically accurate and made me understand what I'd been doing wrong.I went on the diet for 2 weeks and lost 12 lbs immediately. Then I stayed on it for 5 more weeks..AND LOST NOTHING MORE..plus I felt horrible and really missed my vegetables. I was also very frustrated, because there was no one at the Atkins center who would talk to me about what may be going on. I found a different diet which adheres to the same concepts of getting off the sugar and wheat, but by combining food in appropriate ways, I'm able to have lots of fruits and veggies....(by the way, I've discovered in the course of the Atkins diet that I'm allergic to wheat..of all things!) I've lost 10 more lbs on the new less restrictive..and I think HEALTHIER diet...

My wife and I too are wondering why we have not lost more than five or six pounds. We have been following the 20 carb limit or less faithfully.I weighed this morning and I have put two pounds back on.??? I have quite useing equal about six days ago.We only drink all decaffenated beverages the same time period. We well continue the diet as it is the first time that I have ever tried dieting, even though I'am fifty pounds over. I hate failing at anything. Mark <><
Rating: Summary: easy to understand and follow/at last a diet book that makes Review: I have heard about this diet for a long time but until I sat down and read the book with the same interest that I give to a novel,I never knew what I was doing wrong. I saw my profile in several of his examples. And was amazed to see that someone actually understood my problem. I have tried so many different "diets" and "weight reduction" programs and while I sometimes was able to lose a lot of weight I was never up to get to "goal" nor was I able to keep this weight off. Also I was very depressed while dieting and still "craving". With this plan I amo losing weight and feel wonderful. Also my last check up was the first one I have had in many years where all my levels were normal or better. My husband is also on the diet and in just under two months he has gone from a 48 waist to a 44 and since he was a compulsive eater I did not think it was possible for him to be happy on a diet. Ha..he is the one who cooks all our meals, shops and makes sure I stay right. All I can say is bless you Dr. Adkins...keep developing all those great products and books. I am certain I will reach my goal and stay there because this is not a diet it is a new way of life for us. Thank you
Rating: Summary: I almost passed out Review: I thought the concept was good, but this diet is in no means for anyone trying to lose a couple of pounds. When I went on this diet I wanted to lose 30 lbs. I was not overweight, and while on the diet I almost passed out and I was unable to concentrate. The diet did more harm to me then it did good. This maybe a good diet for the truly obese people but not for anyone wanting to loss a couple of lbs.

Review: hearing about high protein diets at school, i was a little skeptical, but after reading the Dr. atkins new diet revolution, i know why it works because i see how it's helping me. i've only been doing this for 4 day's and i'm in it for life.
Rating: Summary: Diabetics fight back!!! Review: Fighting with Diabeties for years, I figured that my life would be short. I was taking two medications and still had a glucose count of 160 to 200, some days was up 380 to 400. tic. count was in the 1200's etc.. you get the picture. I tried watching what I eat. No deserts, only diet soda's, veges etc. I was weight lifting, all was a losing battle. I tried and still On the Atkins diet for 3 week's my bllod count is on an average of 124 and nearly constant *** without medication ***. trig. levels dropped considerably. My visions has cleared and I can sleep at nights. My energy has increased. Tridational health diets nearly killed me. My blood counts speak for themselves, I'm not hungery. Do I miss pasta? Hell yea, what Italian wouldn't. I'll have some once every few months. But hey, I do love sausage and cheeses and I have lost about 13 lbs and continue to lose body fat. I also find that I am recovering from weight ligting fast and building muscle quickly. My wife has lost 15 lbs. in two weeks and she is also diabetic. Her suger level is down to 106 without meds.
Rating: Summary: It's great!.... I feel great! Review: I tried this diet after I went to the docotor and found that I had gained 13 pounds in the last year. After going over my diet..my low fat diet, we found that I ate way too many carbs and sugars. Bagels with non fat cream cheese...turkey sandwiches, cereals. Everything I thought was right, was wrong for my body. I decided to try just one more diet and I am amazed. My cravings for chocolates and food when I am not hungry have ceased. I eat less, and feel totally satisfied, and I have lost 21 pounds in just under four weeks! I too am not an egg eater, but enjoy delicious chef salads, grilled chicken breast smothered with mushrooms and swiss cheese, sauteed shrimp, mushrooms and garlic, sugarfree sparkleing jello with real whipped cream! All it takes is some experimenting. My co-workers have seen an improvement in my mood, as well as my body form that I am starting a support group at work and so far have over 10 people who have asked me about the diet and are going to have a bi-weekly weigh in. Give it a try, It's been an exciting four weeks for me!
Rating: Summary: Bacon and Eggs again? Review: I was only 20 lbs. or so over my "ideal" wt. however my sweet tooth always won me over. I tried the diet for the full two week period and found that I was quite satisfied with the food choices, but bacon and eggs every day? It becomes too much. Anyway, I have lost a total of about 15 lbs and am down to 184. I did'nt have a lot to loose, but it did work. I did have my colesterol screened after being on the diet about 3 weeks and I was significantly higher than usual, but the "good" cholesterol was also higher than usual....thus there was no net gain in "bad" bad cholesterol. Anyway...It works and I strongly encourage even those people with only 10-15 lbs to loose to try the diet. Remember....Always see your doctor before trying this diet.
Rating: Summary: A little leary to try this diet... Review: I don't know whether or not to try this diet as it completely, or nearly completely eliminates carbohydrates from your diet. Carbo starving may work at first and deliver incredibly fast weight loss results, but what are long term consequences of following this diet, like health troubles...very interesting concept though when he discusses ketosis. Worth a read at least.
