NOW , THERE WERE TIMES WHEN I DID GIVE IN TO MY SUGAR CRAVINGS, BUT I ONLY GAINED 5 LBS. BACK AT THE MOST. I DO WORK OUT EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, BUT EVEN IF YOU DON'T YOU'LL STILL SEE RESULTS. MY GOAL WEIGHT IS 155 LBS. I KNOW THAT I'LL BE ABLE TO DO IT WITH THE HELP OF THIS BOOK.
Rating: Summary: It works for the short term, but it's not a diet to maintain Review: I tried the diet for about 8 weeks, and even lost 25 pounds in the first 6 weeks, but I couldn't just eat meat and cheese anymore. I also noticed that my sweat odor changed for the worse, this might be an individual problem, but I know that a protein rich diet made me stink. Overall, for a few pounds in a few weeks, it's okay.
Rating: Summary: THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!! Review: I started Dr. Atkin's diet one week ago and I have already lost 8 pounds. I am doing the diet along with the advanced Tae-Bo tapes and you should really see the dramatic results. I recommend everyone who is currently on the diet to please do some sort of exercise program. Not only will you lose weight even faster, but you WILL feel great. In February I weighed 191, on a 5'2" frame. With constant exercise and watching what I ate, I came down to 170. I decided to try Dr. Atkins so that I might get off another 25 pounds, but now I have decided to make his plan a way of life. My birthday is next month, so all of you guys out there, wish me luck in losing another 10-15 lbs by August 4th!
Rating: Summary: Just another fad died Review: Unfortunately people are excited by this diet because it shows fast results. But it is just another diet confusing the body's metabolism. Like my husband and father in law, many people on this diet will be heavier after they stop this diet than when they started. The most successful means to lose weight is exercise (1/2 hour aerobics every day and reasonable food portions (less or nothing in the evening and generally; fewer calories than used in one day). Don't waste your money on this book.
Rating: Summary: great Review: i just started this diet about 2 weeks ago, and it is the best diet i have ever been on. You don't have a set table of food that you have to eat. (like i bagel for breakfast, 2 cups of tuna for lunch) You can eat what you want, when you want. And it works. The first week i didn't really lose anything, but that was because i had estrogen running through my bloodstream. But the second week was great. I'm at about 15 pounds now, and still losing steadly. This is a great diet, i recomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: The book is encouraging. Review: I submitted a review yesterday but forget to include a request for info readers might have regarding degrees of ketosis. I find checking for ketosis with Ketostrips is good psychologically and helps me stay on track. What is the best range to stay in? What about health issues and degrees of ketosis? Please email me with comments. Thanks.
Rating: Summary: Excellent opportunity to regroup on life ! Review: I am 37 years old and about 35lbs overweight. Drinking beers on the weekend and eating the typical( father of two young boys )would eat for dinner. At 6'4'' tall I carried the weight well but I felt tired and needed a lift. I have been on the Atkins program 2 weeks and have shed 18lbs. Also my wife is excited.
Rating: Summary: The book is encouraging. Review: The reading would be better if the good doctor were more succinct.A manuel for the dieter instead of a book of persuasion would be handier for those already convinced and ready to start the diet.I got a little tired of thinking I was witnessing a chip on his shoulder.I would buy a reference version of just the basics with a splash of motivational material without the persuasion if it were available. I have been on the diet several times for up to 2 months with weight loss of up to 20 lbs but have always gone off and regained weight.I have noted I do FEEL BETTER while on the diet. I have had standstills, perhaps because I have never excluded caffeine from my diet. I have stayed on the diet without cheating, except for caffeine, for 4 weeks on 2 occasions. I most recently started the diet 6 days ago and lost 6lbs by the 4th day.I lost a lb yesterday but it was back today. No doubt the loss includes water but I plan to continue. My goal is to lose the 45 lbs I've gained and yoyo'd with the last 10 yrs. Reading the experiences of others is very encouraging and I would be interested in corresponding with successful losers who have stuck with the plan for several months. I would be interested in knowing the effects of going off the diet for the occasional party and other's experience with caffeine. I go into ketosis very easily but often "hang around" the same spot on the scale. Then I start to question the diet and lose resolve and will power. This diet still seems like my best chance for weight loss.
Rating: Summary: Not Everything in Texas is Bigger! Review: In reading the review entries this morning, I am amazed at all the people who feel this "diet" is bad for you! Since when did dropping extra "unhealthy" pounds become bad for you? My heart has had to work overtime pumping blood through my overweight body for most of my life. Since dropping 50 plus pounds, I feel great and I know my heart thanks me. I will continue to follow this lifestyle, as it works for me. The vitamins are an essential element to this lifestyle and without them I would certainly fail at keeping my weight off. I am commited to keeping my weight off to prove that Not Everything in Texas is Bigger!! Thanks again Dr. Atkins!
Rating: Summary: Amen Florida! Review: I couldn't have said it better. Most people seem to think you continue to live on bacon and eggs. Not the case. As you progress, add the vegetables and fruits. A piece of toast with creme cheese. Just watch your carb intake and add some variety. The whole purpose of the induction is to get the metabolism to working. I'm in my third month and eat two servings of fruits, and 3 of vegetables along with plenty of meat and cheese. I'm still loosing weight. Not as fast, but still 1 or two pounds a week. If I'd ate this way before the induction, none of this would be burned for fuel, simply stored as fat. Some people need to read the book again. (if they ever read it in the first place.)
