I lost a pound a day on this diet...great, eh? I also got violently ill and have possibly damaged my gall bladder (which was perfectly A-OK before trying this diet) for life. It only took a week for this to happen. The book went in the trash...and that was too good for it. Dr. Atkins, you are quite the millionaire, and I am the poorer for it. Dumb me. Amazon...give us the option for NO stars!
Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK IN FULL BEFORE YOU BEGIN Review: I read this book in full before starting the diet. There is so much you need to know before you jump into a diet like this. YOU NEED VITAMIN SUPPLIMENTS TO STAY HEALTHY. This diet helps you find out what type you are then encourages you to first consult a physician to keep track of your blood sugars. It's what you don't know that can hurt you on this diet. I enjoyed this book. I found out a lot about myself and what causes me to gain weight and makes it hard to take off. This diet works. Read the entire book so you want fall short of your goal.

Rating: Summary: twice lucky Review: Dr Atkins New Diet Revelution caught my eye because I had triedjust about every diet imaginable. I figured one last try couldn'thurt. I found the book to be very helpful in my understanding the fatburning process. I found the carb counter in the back as well as the recipe section especially helpful, as so many things I didnt think were packed with carbs actually were. The recipe section had some good ideas for meals. I did find a few recipes in need of cooking time adjustments, no big deal to me though. The way this diet worked promptedme to also purchase Dr Atkins New Diet Book whick has some great recipes. This diet worked for me last year when I lost 40 pounds in 6 months and it is working for me again, as I just recently had a baby and am in the process of losing the "baby fat". My husband was very skepticle in the beginning and in fact, did not do the diet with me last time. But after seeing the results and reading the book himself, he is now making this life change with me. Thanks Dr Atkins for keeping this book alive.
Rating: Summary: It works! It works! Review: I read the entire book before I began the diet. I was so very skeptical because I have spent my life denying myself food. I am only 5' tall and every pound I gain is like 10 to someone else. I am in my first month and have already lost 5lbs. It used to take me four months to loose a few pounds.Dr. Atkins (bless him) explains (maybe a little too technical) how it works. He tells you what you can and cannot eat so there is no misunderstanding. Follow it to the letter and you too can loose. The first diet that I can live with and still feel satisfied as well as energetic and happy. And best of all DO I LOOK GOOOOOOOD!
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: I started this diet on Monday January 24th and today is Friday January 28th. I was about 35 pounds overweight when I started and now: I have already lost 15 pounds! That is 15 pounds in only 5 days! Is this normal? The diet has been fairly easy and getting into Ketosis was a breeze. By Tuesday morning, my strip was as dark as it could be! Rating: Summary: IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS Review: I wanted to lose 45 pounds and I decided to try Atkins diet,it did not work well for me at all. By the end of the first day I had a killer headache that would not even go away with prescription Motrin,I was very weak and I had a greasy taste in my mouth the entire day by the second day I was so sick I had to leave work I still had the greasy taste in my mouth and I felt so nauseated. My friend has been doing this diet for a little over a month and she loves it I guess it just is not right for everyone. Last year in April I went on a low fat diet and took a water aerobics class and within 3 weeks I dropped 26 pounds and I felt wonderful I will stick with the old fashion way of doing things eating balanced meals and exercising.
Rating: Summary: Buy this book and it will change your life! It did for me. Review: the diet is great, but the book is too wordy. I have only been on it a week and already losing weight! I must warn you though, the first few days you may go through withdrawls from the extremely low sugar/carbs intake; cold sweats, chills, body aches, weakness, faint, etc, but don't let that stop you. On day 3 (once I entered ketosis), I felt so much better before I even started the diet (more energized, alert, no hunger cravings, and I feel even a sense of uphoria). If you want to make a drastic change to your mind and body, I recommend this book - BUT this diet is NOT for everyone. This diet is to be used as a life-long commitment, to ensure your weight does not come back.
Rating: Summary: Unhealthy and a poor read Review: First of all, I tried this diet after I heard all the hype, and not only did it not work, but it made me really sick. I've talked to several nutritionists since then who all agreed the diet is extremely unhealthy. Also the book is all fluff. It is a very simple plan that could be througly described in 2 pages max. If you really want to try this diet out, please don't waste your money on the book that just goes on forever and ever, just go to his web site or skim the book in a book store.
Rating: Summary: Never thought it would work, SURPRISE! Review: 3 weeks and 21 pounds of weight loss later, I am a believer. I never thought this diet would work for me. I had tried every diet known to man, Jenny Craig, low-fat, Weight Watchers. None of them seemed to work because I would save all my points or food choices for high carbohydrate foods. Never on any of these diets did anyone explain to me the significance of carbohydrates and their connection to insulin production. Besides the remarkable weight loss, lack of hunger and energy level, I have changed my eating habits. In the past, I did not eat much meat. Meat was bad and fatty, according to former weight-loss coaches. I really stacked my diet with carbo-rich foods. Now, I have come to appreciate meats that I had never tried before and are loving them. If you are having any doubts about going on this diet, DON'T! The first two weeks are an adjustment, but they go by so quickly, you don't even miss the carbohydrates. I found it to be important to follow Dr. Atkins' advice to the letter. It made the first few weeks easier. Do this diet and you'll begin to see why low carbohydrate dieting will be the solution to obesity in this millenium.
