Rating: Summary: Did the diet for 2 weeks Review: I followed the diet for 2 weeks and didn't lose any weight. I must be doing something wrong. Perhaps I slipped with a little sugar and/or carbs. Never went into ketosis. I do miss fruit and carbs. I also bought most of the supplements (not all, too expensive, but I found some contradictions with the dosages in different chapters of the book. However, with all the success stories I've heard I'm going to try again and be very strict. On the positive side, I did notice a decrease in appetite. Wish me luck.
Rating: Summary: The book and diet are excellent for me. Review: I have been on the diet for approximately 8 months. I dropped my weight from 262 to 225 and two sizes in my waist line. It is a diet that satifies my hunger and I don't eat between meals. However, I have one problem, my body does not readily break down the protein. As a result, I have had the gout a couple of times. Although I am 59 years old, I am very active. I work, go to New Mexico State University where I am working on my second degree, and I workout for at least an hour and half four to five days a week. Rating: Summary: There are some areas that need more precise information. Review: I have used this book in the past to loose weight and was successful. In fact, my friend Mary was successful too. But I became diabetic and the diabetic nutritionist told me to eat a different diet , one with carbohydrates. Of course, I gained my weight back. Now when I try to use this diet, my sugar drops too low (in the 80's) and my vision blurs. I may not be hungry but have to eat something with carbohydrates to bring my sugar up so my vision clears. My vision will also blur if my sugar goes to only 133-35 or so. Because of my diabetes which I control with my diet, I do eat very few carbohydrates as I feel so much better. I just can't loose the weight anymore and I'm at my top. I need to loose about 50 lbs. Can anybody help me? Is Dr. Atkins out there?
Rating: Summary: The book reads like a infomercial, but the diet is great! Review: My husband and I started this diet about 10 days ago. I couldn't keep it up. I don't like meat that much. My husband is still on it and has lost 9lbs. He feels great, and is taking vitamins. I worry about the cholesterol! He doesn't have alot to lose only about 20 more lbs. This was a great way to start. I was VERY SKEPTICAL!! I read these reviews before we started the diet. He still has alot of energy and is doing great!!
Rating: Summary: I'm on day 4... Review: Well, I read it, I'm doing it, but I'm hungry (no extra fatigue or headaches though) and I ate a half of a bagel I wanted bread so bad! I miss fruit...I haven't gained, but after day 3 I still haven't hit ketosis...after today's bread, I think I'm back to square one...any suggestions? (I only have 10 pounds to lose so I don't expect dramatic results, but something should happen soon!
Rating: Summary: Be careful - this is not for everyone Review: I wanted to lose about 20 lbs and tried this diet last summer. The truths are: 1) Yes, if you follow it exactly, there's no hunger. 2) Weight loss happens quickly. HOWEVER, the initial loss is mostly water and it's easy to get dehydrated. The downsides to this diet (and for me they were all reasons not to do it) are: I felt awful! I had NO energy at all, I couldn't even work out. I was constipated all the time. The diet gives you very bad breath, too! I got really sick of eating high-fat, greasy food all the time. There's way too much meat, cheese and butter in this diet for my tastes. As soon as I ate some carbs again I felt 100% better. I suspect this diet will work for the very overweight and those with a carbohydrate intolerance. For people looking to lose 20 lbs or less, don't do this diet.

Review: My doctor strongly recommended that read this book and start the diet, so I found it, read it, and began my Atkins Diet dieting experience on 03/06/98. By 04/06/98, I had lost 15 pounds -- without feeling hungry at any time other than the couple of times I was so busy that I actually forgot to eat! The receipes and menu suggestions in Dr. Atkins' book taste great! I am having such good success with the diet that I have been recommending the book to everyone I know who is overweight, whether they have 5 or 50 pounds to lose. I have more energy than I had before I began the diet and started losing weight, and I have taken up exercising regularly. While beginning to lose weight has of course not cured my arthritis, my load-bearing joints are feeling better.
Rating: Summary: Best diet I've ever been on! Review: I am a 15 year old girl who has been on the diet for 2 months. I have tried several diets, including the low-fat, high-carb diet all the doctors advocate. That has worked for me in the past, but as a teen, I crave immediate results, which I didn't get from that diet. On the Atkins plan, however, I have lost 25 pounds and have reached my target weight of 110 pounds. My friends saw how fast I lost weight and some of them are on it, and they all love it. I would defenitely recommend this to anybody!
