Rating: Summary: YUCK! Review: I skimmed through the book once, to get the details, then carefully re-read it to try to gain a better level of understanding. The only reason I understood as much as I did is because I had read another book on a similar diet that went into much more detail. However, I very much disagree with the diet. I can say that, because I tried it and got violently ill (nausea, acid reflux, vomiting). I think that a balanced approach will, despite what Dr. Atkins says, gradually bring your body back into balance without making you sick. I think this is a dangerous diet because it's too limiting in what you eat. And Dr. Atkins' writing style leaves much to be desired.
Rating: Summary: Ignore the establishment - Follow this book!!! Review: I have lost 35 lbs in 3 months on this diet and NEVER FELT BETTER! Don't listen to the losers who didn't follow it CORRECTLY and couldn't do it. IT IS EASY! Never be hungry, and lose weight! I eat cheeseburgers, steaks, omeletes, sausage & bacon, chicken wings, and more! The Cookbook has some good recipes as well.The absolutely ONLY downside to this diet is it's kind of expensive. Think about it: You are buying lots of meat and vitamins, which ain't cheap. But if you are like me and struggled most of your life trying to lose weight - then the price is worth many times what I am paying at the grocery store!
Rating: Summary: I WISH I'D FOUND THIS BOOK YEARS AGO! Review: After trying multiple different diet's and reading countless different diet books, this diet has been a godsend. I've lost 52 pounds and my sister-in-law has lost 45 pounds in just a little over 2 months on the diet. It's easy to follow and you don't feel like your sacrificing. Just goes to show that some people just need a different diet to follow.
Rating: Summary: Finally, I Can Eat Real Food Review: Wow! I enjoyed this book because it confirms what I have always suspected. We need to eat "real" food...like meats, cheeses, eggs, etc... I have never had a serious weight problem, but in the past year, ever since I have been eating high-carb, low-fat, I've gained 13 pounds!!! Go figure! I've been on the diet for 11 days and have lost 3 pounds eating all the foods that my body naturally craves. I only have a few more to lose, but I plan to continue this way of eating to maintain my weight and my health. I'm planning to get some bloodwork done in the near future...I'll be curious to see houw that comes out!!!
Rating: Summary: The only diet with lasting results Review: I have tried many diets, with and without the aid of professionals, including nutritional counselors, diet clubs, 12-step support groups, and "fat farms" and have spent thousands of dollars, only to lose weight (very painfully)and regain all the lost weight plus more. The Atkins diet is allowing me to lose weight, feel energetic, and is giving me a new feeling of confidence and self esteem. I felt tired, weak, nauseous, and headachey the first three days of the diet because my body was adjusting to the radical changes it was experiencing. Something miraculous happend on the 4th and 5th days. All those symptoms disappeared and I have felt energetic, clear-headed and ALIVE ever since, for the first time in years. To the unbelievers, alarmists, and skeptics, I say "Go back to your carbs and enjoy them. Continue to be hungry and on the diet yo-yo. If you every get tired of that, try the Atkins diet for the full 14 days. That will convince you more tha! n anything I can say." I am 60 years old and getting ready to retire. I feel like 35 again!
Rating: Summary: I am a believer! Review: After being overweight for 20+ of my 42 years, I have tried all kinds of diets, including Phen-Fen and low fat diets. Yes, I lost weight on most of them, but felt deprived and hungry. Dr. Atkins' diet has been easy, I lost 20 lbs in one month. I am not even tempted by sweets or breads anymore. I haven't felt so energized in the last 20 years. I am sleeping like a teenager, a solid 8+ hours a night, which is amazing considering I had sleep apnea before starting the diet. My blood pressure is down and I feel great. I strongly recommend this book, follow the diet, it works.

I have started to exercise hoping it will promote faster results. What a wonderful diet. I have tried them all including Redux. This is the best. Good Luck to anyone trying it. Rating: Summary: Good book! Is there a site to go along with it for q&a's? Review: I am a 32 year old female that has tried all sorts of diets - obviously with no long term success. I read and went on Dr. Adkin's diet about 2 weeks ago and have lost 8 pounds and feel great! My only question/concern is that for the past 6 days I haven't lost anymore weight. I use the Lipolysis Testing Strips and they ARE turning purple - guess it's not a ketosis problem. For any of you out there that have been on this diet and perhaps have experienced this, would you please e-mail me with your comments? Also, is anyone aware of a web site that has questions & answers regarding the Dr. Adkin's diet? I've read a lot of interesting things just from these reviews. Rating: Summary: A must read for fellow dieters! Review: Finally someone comes out with some REAL advice. I had been struggling with my weight for years. I've never been "fat", just heavier than I should be. However, the less I ate, the heavier I got! I heard about this diet from 2 different friends who said they and their friends were "Dropping the weight like crazy!" So...I bought the book. I wanted it to move alot faster, as I was anxious to get to the actual "Diet". But, now I know why he seems to go on and on at times. I have been on the diet a week and a day and have REALLY lost 11 pounds! My husband shook his head at first, now I TURN his head again! The ketosis sticks help alot. You can stay on track, even on those days when you stayed the same. You can see that you are still burning fat. I could never figure out why the canned shake diet never worked for me. Now I look at the can, it's loaded with Carbohydrates!Thank you Dr. Atkins from the bottom of my heart! For all you skeptics out t! here, read the book!
