Rating: Summary: Excellent Best Diet Ever ! Review: This book saved my life. It's the best thing ever. I have tried even the phen phen diet and only lost 10pds in 3 months and put more weight on. I also lost engery. With Dr. Atkins diet you have much more engery. This diet helps you maintain a balance of good food. So there for you are never hungry, and lose weight eating. I have lost weight while I was sitting in front of the computer; on the internet chatting with friends. I have bought the book for family and friends to have. I have passed this diet on. Rating: Summary: This book is for those who want to lose more than 20 lbs. Review: Two friends are on this diet and have exclaimed how much weight they've lost in such a short period of time. This book seems to have inspired them the way no other diet book or exercise could have. But I have to seriously question any diet that encourages cheese/meats/butter as the sole part of the diet, all while constantly popping supplements so its dieters don't pass out from fatigue in the middle of the day. They've suggested that I go on the diet but not only don't I have what it takes to quit carbs cold turkey, and I question how good a diet it is for those who have a family history of heart/liver disease or other hereditary health problems (b/c even though you're supposed to get physician approval before starting a diet, we young people hardly ever do). Besides, I'm not so overweight (hell, we all could be more toned) that putting myself through a diet like this is the healthy alternative to better eating habits and regular exercise. I'm leaving that to aerobic/anaerobic workouts and (most importantly) eating for fuel rather than as a way to pass the time. This book seems to inspire those to take control of what they eat, but I don't see a better alternative in consigning someone to a lifetime of taking a couple dozen pills a day along with a high protein/fat diet. I'd rather be fat than on dialysis.
Rating: Summary: Hello, wake up folks! Homo Sapience is not carnivorous! Review: I tried this Atkin's diet for 3 days and couldn't continue any longer because food choice was tightly limited and sick. Eating protein food as main subject instead of food rich in carbohydrates is so untasty and unwelcome, my stomach was getting upset. I lost appetite because there was no pleasure in eating. Before I started this diet, I always liked eating protein and fat rich food, but that was with a combination of some sort of carbohydrate food. I think I lost few pounds of water and body weight not because of this high protein diet, but due to eating less portion of food and no snacking. Without carbohydrate, it was very difficult to overeat and nothing tasty to eat as snacks. How can anyone overeat if one has to eat steak, eggs, fish and other protein food without bread or potato, you lose interest in eating. Food just don't look interesting without other important nutritions. If you are asian like me, don't even try this. You will starve to death. Also this method is very unhealthy not to mention the ketosis. You also will have constipation due to lack of fiber. Human body has not yet adapted to meat diet. Homo Sapience is omnivorous and has never been luxurious enough to overeat. As the quality and quantity of food have dramatically increased in modern society, we start breaking the natural way of eating and become FAT. And some educated individuals make fortune advocating meats for those people. This is the bottom line. As long as you eat more than you use, no matter what or how you eat, you will gain weight. That's a part of Newton's Law and it's still universal law. If you try to break all those natural and universal laws, you will become unlAWFUL.
Rating: Summary: I'm amazed, I'm not even hungry! Review: Although I'm just in the induction diet phase(the first 14 days), I can't believe how much I'm able to eat! The good news is the hunger pain is gone and that allows me to think CLEARLY about my next meal/snack, instead of grabbing the first thing I can get my hands on. Also, the sweet cravings are gone. I watched my children eat a candy bar, I could smell the chocolate and didn't take a bite. I had no desire for it. One of the boys didn't finish his and it stayed next to me for over an hour until I just threw it away. Before, I would've eaten it in the first 15 seconds without another thought. Something else I've noticed is that I feel more alert, I'm definitely thinking more clearly. Things aren't foggy and I don't feel I'm dragging like I usually do. Best of all, it's an easy diet to follow. Please email me with any "hints" or things that have helped you through the diet. I'd love to know more on how to be successful at this!

Rating: Summary: Halleluiah!! It really Works Review: Well Toay is Sept 29, 1998 and I have been on the diet 8 days. I have lost 6 lbs and I am not sure how many inches but I can really tell it in my clothes. I feel better. The only downfall I have is I have had a terible headache. I am not hungry and believe me I was a big eater. I didnt snack much I just ate large quanity's of food. Never thought I could giver up french fries or stuffed baked potatoes or those wonderful rolls but I have done it. I have my mind made up I am tired of being fat this time I am going to stick to it. I am in Ketosis and have been sice the 3rd day. Makes you feel great when it turns purple. I weighed 242 and I am 32 years old and 5'5. I have a lot to lose but with the Good Lord's help and Dr. Atkins book I know I can do it. May I suggest dont just read it once read it over and over also read the reviews they are uplifting when you see so many people who have had success. Rating: Summary: I LOST 25 LBS IN 2 1/2 MONTHS! Review: While I was excited about the lb. loss, even more significant was the inch loss- six inches from my waist in 2 1/2 months! During that same period, I had a 100 point drop on my cholesterol level from a very high 360. This was the only program that worked for me. The protein program works. Try it, you'll be glad you did!
Rating: Summary: I'm starting this because my Dad looks awesome! Review: I saw my Dad, who lives in NY, 3000 miles from me, at Christmas 1997. He was FAT! I worried for weeks afterwards about his health. Well, I just saw him again for the first time since Christmas and WOW...he looks wonderful. Seeing him happy and healthy again is all I need to get me started, as well. I need to lose 50 plus. Wish me luck!
Rating: Summary: REAL FAT LOSS, NOT JUST WEIGHT LOSS! Review: About two years ago I bought Dr Atkins book and decided to try the protein way again. I remembered how GREAT I FELT back in my powerlifting days. I started to lose FAT immediately. My waist became trimmer, clothes were feeling looser. My energy had increased! Muscle Tone had improved even though I wasn't going to the gym. I noticed a improvement, a substantial improvement in my hair, nails and skin. My skin started to radiate with a youthful, healthy glow. And I FELT FANTASTIC! Dr Atkins is not for everyone. It's only for those who want results! And it's only for those who are willing to separate themselves from the masses that buy in to convential wisdom on carbs and the balanced diet. By the way, I lost 30 lbs and 4 waistline inches in my first month! More importantly is that I kept, actually increased muscle while I lost fat! Typically, people lose water and muscle and very little fat. I am sold not just on Dr Atkins, but on the power of the protein diet. It really works! And it can happen for you as well. Give it a try. Rating: Summary: Still going but slowly Review: First two week weight lose was 9 pds but now it is 4 and a half weeks and the lose is 15 pds. I have stuck with the induction diet with only occassion salad because I really stopped losing when I had carbs even the ones in a salad and veggies. I also had to cut out cheese and I went to low fat protein. I use multi vits, calcium, and chromium. Blood pressure lowered enough to stop the meds. In retrospect, I lost 15 pds in three months on the phen/phen diet medication so this lose is okay and a lot less dangerous.
