Rating: Summary: Solid Robert's Style and Story Review: Having read and enjoyed Robert's stories since the early 80s, I am always excited when another offering from this (thankfully) prolific writer hits the shelves! Sliding into the worlds and lives that Roberts creates is a great mini vacation from reality and I especially enjoy her penchance for Celtic, magical and mythical themes, as in this new triology. Roberts loves the "what if?" and as one of the heros (or heros to be)asks: What would life be like, if we KNEW magic was alive and true and that the old stories were based on something real? The question is not new and has been asked in grander literary style, but it is always fun and Roberts lets us share that fun. There won't be any great surprises for longtime fans, the heros/heroines of the next two books are clear, as are the basic man/woman conflicts that will play out. We've met versions of her single mom, grounded realist, eccentic writer, scion of a family empire, journalist and book lover before, but so what? We liked them then and they are no less engaging now. Personally, I also enjoy Robert's stories, like this one, in which her characters realize that their lives to date aren't working and then set about to create a better life that does work. I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.
Rating: Summary: Roberts shines with this winning paranormal tale! Review: I went through the phase of a being devout Nora Roberts fan. Frankly, no one can touch her with the number of books in such a short period. She has a good feel for romance, has a super understanding of men as they are, not as we might like them to be, appreciates them, adores them, and yet gives us strong females to match them. No matter how good she is, she writes too fast these days, so some books just seem like retreads, same book over and over, different setting different names. That is not bad. You go in knowing what to expect from Nora. But being fresh is not an adjective you would use to describe her works the last ten years. There have been exceptions. Her J.D. Robb books are amazing and I will not miss one of those. And her Donovan Legacy was very good. Still, I had just about stopped buying her regularly. An author of the Celta series of paranormals praised the Key series. An avid friend of mine loved them, so I HAD to try them. I am truly spellbound by Key of Light, and look forward to the second and third in the series.Key of Light is an interesting premise. Three young women, with seemingly nothing in common other than their age and the fact they have been fired or are about to be fired, have been summoned to Warrior's Peak, a brooding Gothic mansion on the hill. There, they meet Pitte and Rowenna, and Pitte spins a tale for them about a god, existing before the time of the Elves and Faeries, who falls in love with a mortal. They marry and she bears him three daughters. But other gods were angry he had taken a mortal to wife and plots evil deeds, and kidnaps the three beautiful princesses, keeping them locked in a half-world. The god tried everything he could to rescue his daughters, but could not, he could only decree that once every hundred years three women were born in to the mortal world with the souls of his daughters. If these moral women are able to solve the riddle and find three keys, they can unlock the spelling holding the princesses. Malory Price, Zoe McCourt, Dana Steele hear this faerytale with much doubt, especially as it becomes apparent Pitte believe they are the reborn souls of the princesses. However, he offers them a challenge. For $25,000 each they search for the keys. If they succeed, they get a million dollars each. If they fail, they lose one year of their lives. Three women in need of money, whether they believe or not, it's a chance they cannot pass up. They are given guides to help in the search, Flynn, and his friends ¯ Brad and Jordan, who are also connected to the mystery and the ultimate solution. Book 1 is Malory and Flynn's book. It Roberts at her best and I cannot wait to read the next two. As to the reviewers gripping about Pitte's name. I suggest you try reading some ancient Celtic lore...
Rating: Summary: Language Review: Why does Nora Roberts have to use God's name in vain SOOOOOOOOOO much? Why can't she just curse without bringing God into it?
Rating: Summary: Another Wonderful Winner! Review: I have read EVERY book Nora Roberts has ever written and wait anxiously for each new one to "hit the stands". I was at the store the first day this book came out and read it cover to cover that very day. I truly enjoyed it from start to finish. The ending was of course evident, since this is a trilogy, but it doesn't detract from the story at all. Malory has a life plan, which starts to change drastically when she calls her boss's new wife a bimbo and spills a latte on her suit. Fortunately the $25,000 she gets for trying to find the key will hold her over for a while since she inevitably loses her job. As Malory sticks to her commitment to find her key she experiences more changes in her life in the way of Dana's brother Flynn. Is someone playing with her mind or is how she feels about him real. Although she hardly knows Zoe and Dana, she feels connected to them. Their methods for finding clues may be obscure, but then how much detail do we really need to make the story fun. The farther into the puzzle of finding her key, the more Malory sees how things could be. She makes some very hard choices, but nothing about the way Robert's writes the story can be called ordinary or predictable. The future pairing of Brad and Zoe and Jordan and Dana is fun to anticipate. The sparks are already flying. We know that Zoe and Dana will get their turns at finding a key and the prelude in this first book about what lies ahead for them makes you want November to be here today. Since the story line is set, and the preliminaries out of the way, the next two can only get better. Better than a great book, that's something!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down! Review: I loved this book I read it a few months ago and just started reading the second book today and I'm almost done! I find this series to be wonderful. The only downside to this series would be that it's somewhat hard to get into at first. Give it time though, and you'll be glad you did!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: Key of Light is a beautiful story of three friends bound in a quest for a key. The characters are rich and lovable. This is one of Nora Roberts' best books ever! I absolutely loved it from start to finish, and can't wait to read the next two books in the trilogy. I have long been a Nora fan, and this book is one of the best examples why. A must read!!!
Rating: Summary: Not a bad way to spend an evening, Review: but I'm not sure I liked it enough to read the rest of the trilogy.
Rating: Summary: A good start to the trilogy Review: The book was rather slow to start, but it finally clicked and moved well. Part of that stems from having to set the stage for the trilogy and introduce all the characters.
Mallory and Flynn are my least favorite leads in this series, but they're okay. Mallory was a little too perfect. She and Flynn are definitely a case of opposites attract, and I found it almost hard to buy that two such different people would be so attracted for the long term.
As for the "key" portion of the story, this was extremely well done in this book, with all the pieces nearly flawlessly seamed. Some things were a little obvious, but not so much as to be a problem. The guys were a hoot; they were very realistically presented. And they were such...guys. Much of the humor lay there. I, for one, liked the interplay between the women, too.
Rating: Summary: Key of Light is the key to your imagination!! Review: If ever a story captured the art of Celtic myths without damaging it's own story line, this would be it. Once again Ms. Roberts captured the Celtic history perfectly. When 3 demigoddesses are captured only 3 keys can release them. And a god cannot release them, no no that would be too easy...so here come these 3 down on their luck, out on love women to save the day. And it's awsome how the painting unlock the secret and how the bad guy is devistatingly handsome...perfect. The big sloppy dog and 3 best friends to counteract the girls is without doubt my favorite part. This story makes the gods seems touchable and almost human, though still noble like and far better than we could ever hope to be. I loved this book, now if I only had the other 2.

Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Three women whose souls are locked, waiting for release. Three women who can find the keys, if only they have the courage to search.
The first, Mallory, a woman with an artist's eye, but not an artist's talent. She's built a life working with art. She has a month to find the first key. But first she must find herself and her true potential. And maybe along the way...love?
A great start to another fantastic Nora Robert's trilogy!
