Rating: Summary: Wshew, good read ! Review: I like everyone else read this book in almost one sitting. I found it to be a very faced paced book, with very little repetitiveness. I think for those people who may not have a good take on the Book of Revelation, these books may be just what the Dr. ordered to get them to start reading the bible. I really enjoyed Desecration, although I thought it a little gruesome, but hey, I guess thats what its all about ! There's a saying going around today in the christian world, " I read the back of the book, we win ". And boy am I glad we do.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Reading Review: I've read all 9 of the Left Behind books, and I'd rate this as one of the better ones in the series. It follows the same formulas as the preceding books as far as length, etc. There is action in this book from the first page to the last, and surprises as well. Put simply, if you've liked the other books, you will want to read this one. Very good book.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: Once again, the authors of this book have given us thought provoking fiction. Not only do I find the ideas and concepts powerfully protrayed, but it is easy reading. The narative flows at a break neck speed that catches and holds the readers attention. As a result of the times that we live, this book allows for much self-reflection. Good job.
Rating: Summary: A page turner!! Review: Just like everyone else, I have been waiting anxiously to get this book, and I finished it within about three days. The plot is just masterful, and as soon as you get into one melee, you want to see how it finishes out before you quit reading. There are tons of characters, though, so you have to keep a perspective of who's who, because they all have a pretty major role in the book. This is a great book, just like all the others in the series, and you DEFINITELY won't be disappointed!!!
Rating: Summary: This series is unrealistic and stereotyped. Review: The Left Behind series in general, and this book in particular takes place in the post-apocalyptic world after numerous natural and man-made disasters have occured. And yet the characters on both sides of the drama routinely fly around the world, drive vehicles, use the internet and other media, and do numerous other technically oriented activities that would probably not be available or functioning if the events which trashed the world were as bad as they were described. In an earlier book, after an earthquake, pages and pages of description of devestation were given, and then only a few pages later, Rayford Steele and other were flying from Chicago to Europe as if nothing happened. Also, in this book, when Chloe goes out of the hide-out building, the issue is expressed that she could be tracked by GC satelites with heat sensors, and yet many times previously the Trib Force flew helicopters and drove vehicles out in the same area. Wouldn't these show up too? It's inconsistancies like that and the authors' annoying fascination with techno-speak (endless explanations of cell-phones, computers, etc) that has doomed this series to mediocrity. This series has become increasingly illogical and extremely drawn-out. The people in a world which had suffered the events described simply would not be able to do what these people do. I won't comment on the theology since I am not qualified, but as literature, these books fail on many levels.
Rating: Summary: Can't stop reading it! Review: Desecration is an excellent addition to the Left Behind Series. I have read all of the books to date and find myself in constant anticipation of the next release. Desecration picks up the torch and features Chaim leading the "remnant" out of Israel. One thing that sticks out about this series is that the writers are not afraid to kill main characters. It shocks the reader into realizing how violent and truly desperate things will be in this time period. I've recommended these books to everyone I can and will definitely read all of the books yet to come out in this series.
Rating: Summary: A DEFINITE MUST-READ FOR EVERYONE! Review: I had been eagerly awaiting this book for months and it did not disappoint. "The Mark" had left me breathlessly in suspense. I was dying to find out more about Chang's unfortunate situation. It had taken me less than two weeks to read books 1-8 several months ago so I had been really on the edge of my seat for this one. I began reading "Desecration" at 12 noon last Tuesday and finished reading it at 3pm. I can't wait for the next installment. Mr. LaHaye and Mr. Jenkins have done a wonderful job with this series. It has made me really think about the way I had been living my life. I have now totally committed my life to Christ and I urge all those who haven't to do so. You will not be sorry. The Rapture can come at any time and the books have done a great job of showing that. But back to the subject of the book. All of the characters are so real-I feel like I know Rayford, Buck, Chloe, and Tsion myself. There was plenty of action and some parts had me near tears like with Hattie and Mr. Miklos (not to give anything away) and especially David. I have to admire Chloe's determination and stubbornness even though I was worried she would get herself killed. At times I did feel that the book was longwinded and I wished there would have been more action. The book was very good though. I hope everyone out there reads and enjoys it as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: Whew! I am exhausted after finishing #9! Can't wait for 10! Review: A remarkable and gripping page-turner! Usually in series books, by the ninth one, there is a rote pattern and a sense of "I've already read this one." NOT with "Desecration!" It does not cover a large period of time, but the time it does cover is packed with action, faith, miracles, and suspense! I always have to "re-enter the real world" when I complete one of these books. The works are so timely that I have to remind myself what is real news and what is the fictional news! The gospel given to the whole world at once? Couldn't imagine it until Billy Graham did just that a few weeks ago. Genuine evil in this world? I can only assume that those who scoffed at that have since rethought their positions. These fictional characters: Rayford, Chloe, Buck, Chaim, etc, remind us that in our real lives, God can take someone and use him or her greatly. Wait until you see what happens with Hattie!!!!! Once again, there are narrow escapes, intricate computer wizardry, grief at the loss of loved ones, men and women being raised up by God for incredible service - all mixed in with the authors' interpretation of how Christ will return for his own. The race against time is front and center in this volume more so than any of the others. I found myself getting caught up in the urgency felt by the Trib Force to reach as many people as possible with the Gospel before time truly does come to an end. Would that we all might find ourselves burdened with this same urgency in our own lives. Now - we have to wait until SUMMER 2002 for the next one!!!
Rating: Summary: Action Packed Novel - Truth behind the words Review: True to the style of Jerry Jenkins and Tim LeHaye, the book not only carried an atmosphere of action, suspense and drama, but also of a need to share the truth of what will happen to us in the future. This is a must read for anyone, seeking to understand Human Nature, God, and how to share faith with others in times of crises. Great book. I read it almost straight through.
Rating: Summary: Tremendous! Review: This is the most captivating religious-related work I have read since the magnificent "Glorious Failure" by Ben Jonjak. Desecration uses a encyclopedic knowledge of Christian Doctrine to construct a compelling and hair-raising prophecy of things to come. It is fantastic, and the application of these new and challening ideas to our own troubled times is piercingly apt. I only have strong recommendations for this work.
