Rating: Summary: Losing Steam Review: I have to agree with the people who have said this series is just getting dragged on. I keep coming back expecting more than I'm ever getting, and stick with it just to see how the authors will dramatize the Apocalypse. The one thing that has moved into the forefront is that the plot has massively overshadowed any further character development. Why the authors would choose to continue to introduce new characters when they don't service the ones they already have is beyond me. Consequently I feel very little connection to any of these people, so when one of them tragically dies I feel nothing. But apparently neither do any of the other characters since they barely address it or deal with it. I've also reached the point where my suspension of disbelief has been stretched to the limit. The amount of technical wizardry that goes on in a descimated society is astounding as well as so many people that just happen to know how to pilot a plane?! It's just a disappointment that such a great idea couldn't be weightier and not feel so sophmoric and basic in their execution.
Rating: Summary: A Good Series Making A Great Comeback. Review: I just finished reading 'Desecration' last night. I am once again excited by this amazing series! While the last few books in this series have gotten shorter (in pages) and felt like they were a bit drawn-out, 'Desecration' once again brings us back to the die-hard style of witting that we say in the first two or three books. This book (#9) is a fast-moving book that keeps you glued to every page. With the passing away of a few more members of the "Trib Force" things are really getting down to the wire... the next book should prove to be either a very emotional book or a extremely joyful book that makes one feel a glorious feeling inside, when they say "I won't be left behind!"
Rating: Summary: Desecration Review: I agree with several other reviewers...boring!!I started the Left Behind series late and read the 1st 4 books in a week. They were interesting; I cared about the characters. Now it seems as if the author is burdened and JUST wants to finish the series. The writing is elementary. This 390 page book is actually about 200 pages if the print were smaller and the typeset filled the page!! I agree with another reviewer who said get the book from the library or borrow it. Don't waste your money. Does the author truely want to help believers?? Write a decent book!!
Rating: Summary: Just the Beginning of The End for the Antichrist Review: This book, along with all of the Left Behind books, held my attention until the very last page. I couldn't put it down. I finished reading this book in 4 days. It has everything for a good book; action, adventure, soul-searching, heart-wrenching. I can't wait until next year when the new book comes out.
Rating: Summary: They stopped in the middle of the first act Review: I enjoyed the book. I have read all of them. I do think the authors need to write a complete novel. By using wide margins and 1-1/2 spacing between lines a 400 page novel becomes a rather small paperback. We look forward to this story and then at the very end the authors leave us hanging with unfinished ends all over the place. I have decided not to buy anymore. I will wait until they come to the library and after they have written several more I will read 2 at a time to get a more complete story. I feel like we are reading a weekly comic strip but there is 6 months between segments.
Rating: Summary: Tired,... Review: This 9th book in the series continues the saga of the Tibulation Force's battle against the GC and satan himself. The same problems from the earlier books are magnified here. Lahaye and Jenkins are terrible about describing locations, given only to the sketchiest descriptions of Chicago, New Babylon, Israel, and Greece. One wonders if they ever went to these places or even viewed pictures. The feeling of viewing a incomplete canvas pervades the book. The gyrations they go through to fit the plot with the Bible is comedic at times. Satan, although a fallen angel and a supernatural being comes across as a stupid, bumbling fool who can barely tie his shoelaces. Even though he must know what the bible predicts, he continues to act as if he hasn't a clue. The master of evil is turned into a bumbling moron in the book. Its not very credible. The disasters the earth has suffered in this series continue to amaze. The earth has been hit by two asteroids, had 1/3 the water poisioned, and had flaming hail dumped on it. Any of these by themselves would have ended life as we know it. But these catasrophes barely dent the characters in the book, only slowing them down for a few moments. Despite the shortcomings, the authors have managed to craft an interesting tale that can hold your interest as long as you don't think too hard. This is one of those books that you are better off waiting for the paperback or the combined series thats bound to come out later.
Rating: Summary: Interesting read, but... Review: I think I have to agree with most of the people that are reading this series: TOO MUCH TIME IN-BETWEEN BOOKS!!! It seems that the series is starting to slow down, a number of days take place in Book 9, while in eariler books time seemed to speed along. Maybe it is the authors' finally getting their rythm. Otherwise, it is a great series. The characters are not one dimemtional, they have depth and feelings. I look forward to the next book and the graphinc novel later this year.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: This book is a lot better than the two before it. It's very exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat. In this book you find out how evil and disgusting (and also utterly stupid) Satan really is. Although I don't think desecration was a good name for it. Although the desecration takes up a good part of the book it seems to me that it centers more on the Jews escaping to Petra than Carpathia desecrating the temple. They should've stayed with Operation Eagle. I know you'll wonder since there are only 3 books left (not counting the prequel and the novela about the last judgment) how are they going to finish it all in 3 books? If you purchase a little booklet timeline you'll quickly find out how the books fit into Revelation prophesy. I'd recomend all of them although #7 is slow moving.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced Review: This particular book in the Left Behind series is constantly moving. I personally didn't find any "slow" moments, and I actually could have used some. It was a little more of a choppy read than most of the other books because of the pace. The ending is the usual cliff-hanger style found in the other books in the series, but I find myself more interested in the Greece mission storyline intermission than in the last event where the author left off. But in general, it's a good book, and as is par for the course, I'm ready for #10.
Rating: Summary: Frustrated by the short period covered and left hanging. Review: Please bear with me while I explain why I give this book such a low rating. I have read the entire series including this book. Don't get me wrong, the books are a quick and enjoyable read. I started the series in the summer of 2001 when there were only 8 books. I finished all 8 in about 6 weeks. But I am frustrated that at this point there may be 15 books to complete the series if they cover the small amount of time this one does. Also, without describing the ending of this book, it leaves you hanging in the middle of an episode. I am hooked and ready for the next book, but it will not be out until next year. My recommendation is to NOT purchase this book now. Wait until the entire series is completed and then buy which books you have not read all at once. That way you will have the entire story and can read it until completion and not be frustrated.
