Summary: More awful stuff
Review: This series is like a horrible accident. You don't want to watch but you have to. The books keep getting worse and worse with little to no character development. The book is often offensive as it would seem that only white people will have the keys to the kingdom. Chloe's "little band of believers" in Chicago are so stereotypical that it is painful. Also notice that all the other blacks in the novel die(one I suspect was killed off to show what happens when you lust after a white woman). Other reviewers have already detailed how completely implausible the plot is. The book is also very poorly written. If you haven't started reading this series, don't. If you are caught up in it, stop.

Summary: Dragging....
Review: I'm a huge fan of this series. I read the first 8 books in record time and could hardly wait for this one. This turned out to be a huge disappointment. This entire 'book' could have been done in one chapter. End this....please!!

Summary: Good Book
Review: I love the LB series and maybe this is not the greatest of all
it is stil really good book. Im not a book critic, in fact Im just
14 years, old but I really enjoyed this book and it was worth my time but there is one problem it is to short. They cover to little in one book. The only disappointment was how the trib force got off to easy in some dangerous situations. But overall I think you will enjoy it.

Summary: Is it over YET?
Review: What started off as a promising series has turned into a ploy by the writers and publisher to make more money for themselves by dragging the story out. The writing has gotten very thin. I can't believe the reading level could be more than 8th grade. I can't even remember what grabbed my attention to these books. The story line now is so unrealistic I can't stand to read another one, which is too bad because I think there could be a message in the story - but it was lost long about the 4th book. This book takes place at the 3 1/2 year mark - but it seems like the last 3 or 4 have done the same. It is moving very s - l - o - w - l - y. At the rate they are going, it's going to take another 10 or so books to complete the tribulation.

Summary: Yes, margins are wide, print is large, but, the MESSAGE!!!
Review: LaHayhe and Jenkins have done a mighty work in getting millions of us thinking about where we will spend eternity. I am a practicing Christian and that may account for why I see the series as one of efective ministry. The authors have taken Biblical events, especially of the end times, and "fleshed them out" in fictional mode. That technique has made this portion of the Bible more relevant, more available for consideration than many sermons. As to this specific novel, DECADENCE, I would not put it down! I realize when I buy the books that there will be many months wait in-between. However, the authors told us several books back...that there would be 12 books and they would be spread through 2003. Incidentally, LEFT BEHIND (#1)remains my favorite novel of all time. This idea of fictionalizing portions of the Bible in order to reach masses with the message of the Word is, in my opinion, divinely inspired!! (To date I have purchased 75+ copies of #1 as gifts.) I am a avid fan... wide margins, large print, cliffhangers, and all! YOU GO, LeHAYE & JENKINS!!!

Summary: Can't wait for more
Review: The book left me breathless. I always feel so much more in touch with God after these books, and re-read the older books in conjunction with my Bible while I wait for the next book. Excellent.

Summary: First one I've read...
Review: From the reviews of the rest of the series, it seems that about 90% are either spot on for the series or dead set against it (which is all well and good, except for those who wrote and hadn't read the particular volume).

I'm an agnostic (think it's as stupid to say there is God as well as to say there isn't one as I've seen no real evidence one way or the other). I don't care for religion but have no problems with faith (you should be able to figure out the difference).

With all that here's what I think of Desecration:

1) It's better written than I thought it was going to be. This is not to say it is a great work of literature (it isn't), but it's not 4th grade level. There were 6 or 7 utter laugh out loud groaners (unintentional) that shouldn't have been in any book, but that's fewer than I expected

2) It's smug. Of course it is...you shouldn't even have to ask what I mean considering the source (Lahaye).

3) It's simplistic in it's outlook.

4) It's anti-Jewish (utterly no question about this...Carpathia's rant at the end of the book should never have been written although it souded like it was very heartfelt).

5) It seemed to me to be too easy on everyone involved. If the apocalypse should come in somewhat of the form that the authors would have you belive, you can rest assured that there won't be 1 billion people with access to the internet, planes won't be flying hither and yon, ect. Others reviewers have pointed this out and I would agree with them 100%.

All in all...a fast read (I'm interested to see how much of the text can be fit on a page in a Large Print edition) that doesn't tax the mind too much other than it's occasional offensiveness.

Summary: Great read
Review: Really enjoyed book nine of this series.
I liked all the fast paced action. The book is hard to set down.

Summary: Desecration - Huge Fan becomes Disappointed
Review: Number 9 - "Desecration" was disappointing. I am a huge Left Behind fan and preordered this book back in July. I devour the books in about a day, but I was very disappointed in this book. Simply, this book lacked substance and I think the authors are trying to stretch the series too thin. In a nutshell, the front cover and the back cover say it all.

I will give the next book a try and hopefully it will refuel my interest - if not, I am done.

Summary: The Best Book in the series so far!
Review: This book takes you farther then you ever possibly could go. It's so amazing the action and excitement of the book, but also trying to teach the word of God. I started reading this book series a year ago, and it got me so interested in religion and the bible. This book, and the series are truely great. I don't want to say anything to spoil the book. I just can't wait for the next one!
