Rating: Summary: NOT EVEN IN THE SAME LEAGUE WITH CHRIST CLONE Review: Allow me to be blunt. LEFT BEHIND is not even in the same league with the books of THE CHRIST CLONE TRILOGY! The LEFT BEHIND series jabbers on endlessly about paper-thin characters (I know that's over used, but rarely has it been more appropriate) and barely deals with the events of prophecy. The Antichrist in these books is so unconvincing it's pathetic. The entire story of Desecration is built around the antichrist doing things he simply would not and will not do.
Rating: Summary: Starting to get old! Review: This series captured my interest early, but has gotten too drawn out and long-winded. The characters are still fascinating; the plot is good; but it has begun to take forever to get to a peak in the plot. More concise and fewer books would be a welcome change to this series.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Scriptural Accuracy!!! Review: As a Christian who has studied end time prophecy for about sixteen years, I am IMPRESSED with the authors' knowledge of Biblical prophecy. The pages of Revelation come alive in this book, making believers most thankful that we will not be on planet earth to witness the Great Tribulation as described in DESECRATION. The characters continue to hold my interest as this saga unfolds. Can't wait for the next installment! I don't expect unbelievers to fully appreciate this book. The full impact and value of this work can only be understood by those who know that this is fact-based fiction. I FULLY appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: I'm Glad I Didn't Pay List Price! Review: I've read all of the previous books in this series and eagerly await each new installment. But, the last several books have become boring, predictable, slow moving, and devoid of any real suspense. This one is the worst. You could easily skip it and save yourself some money! When you've finished you don't have any more insight into the characters than before you started. It seems as if Jenkins and LaHaye are just marking time until the end.
Rating: Summary: A Real Page Turner Review: I started reading the Left Behind books without knowing much about them but thought they would be interesting. I am so very glad I took the chance. Every one has been a wonderful, hard to put down, book. The latest book, #9, was difficult to wait for but well worth it. Again I found the book hard to put down and I spent more time than I should have reading. Now I am anxiously waiting for the next one. People have different tastes in books but I would recommend you at least try the first one.
Rating: Summary: First of all... Review: In order to understand why I gave this series such a low rating I think I should note the perspective from which I approached it. I've studied many of the world's religions and have read quite extensively many alternative interpretations of the Christian Bible and the book of Revalations. I was not reading it from a strictly Christian perspective. A friend of mine who owns the series suggested I read them and loaned them to me.I thought that the entire series was predictable and that there wasn't a depth to any of the characters. I just couldn't make myself care about what would happen to them. I think also that if you are marketing a series that you claim follows exactly the main holy book of ANY religion then you can't take liberties with it. Some of the things that have happened in this series are a direct contradiction to the book of Revalations in the Bible. One example I can think of is the character who has both marks. I also found the technical skill with which this book was written to be laughable. I found so many typographical and grammar errors it wasn't even funny. Apparently Mr. Lahaye and Mr. Jenkins don't have a spell check on their word processing program or an editor. I would have failed my college lit class if I had turned in a work in this condition. This was a fast paced series though. If you are a fan of this genre it definitely is worth your time to peruse. However I would recommend borrowing these books from your local library or a friend first before forking over your cash. I would also recommend reading Stephen King's "The Stand" if you like appocalyptic stories.
Rating: Summary: Improvement Review: OK, I just finished reading Desecration. As usual, I was going to wait for the paperback, but then I said "Why not". It seems they're reading the reviews here. There was less emphasis on the pre-saved testimony of the characters (for an expalanation read my previous review, listed in the first book's listing). They've created a little more room for development, although I do not know whether or not they will use that room. I will point out, though, that the characters have developed from book one to book whatever, but they develop slowly, in regard to whatever situation. This is the second of the books which I was able to read in one sitting, if that's saying something. At least there is more that can go on now. For plot reasons, now they merely need to cover more than a couple of days per book again, then the plot could really move quickly.
Rating: Summary: Let me do you a favor-- Review: RUN, don't walk from this site. Take your money and buy a REAL novel with REAL substance and story and CHARACTERS. Anything but THE DESECRATION. If you must read an End Times novel, pick up a copy of Glen Kleier's THE LAST DAY--it is easily the best out there, it is profound and it will captivate you. If you're looking for something more spiritual, may I suggest the NEW TESTAMENT. Read ANYTHING but this excruciatingly horrible drek!
Rating: Summary: No offense intended, but....... Review: I do not have access to PC all of the time and have been waiting to write this. The first books were wonderful and I waited anxiously for the next ones. Man, they need to finish this up!!! I am not a writer but I could finish these up as well as they are doing. There are a lot of "empty pages" as far as content to be read. NO PLOT!!! NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!! ...
Rating: Summary: Worth the Wait Review: When I found out that I would have to wait so long for the next installment of this edge of your seat inspirational thriller I was sure that this meant I would lose interest. How wrong I was. Desecration reaches out and pulls you back into the raging waters of the river that is the ongoing ups and downs of characters who give your heartstrings more than just a little twist. This book was Worth the Wait.
